"As for the MOAB, i still can't figure out what the purpose of it was. It definitely wasn't to kill the IS guys or destroy their tunnels. It can't be to scare NK or someone else because the US having to rely on dropping a bomb to scare off someone else is in itself a sign of weakness. US shouldn't have to do that. They are miles ahead in military and no one needs convincing or reminding about that".

Good point, I suppose one could read many things into it, I'm not convinced that the USA don't  like waving their big stick.

If Trump somehow manages to co-operate with China and get rid of the despots In N Korea, thus improving the lot of the long-suffering people. Then, I will take my hat off to him. I have my doubts though, as to whether he can achieve this. Or, indeed, if that is what his intention is, anyway.

That's what i'm hoping for, Des. I will say this again. Do not take a blind bit of notice of the bluster that comes out of any 'warring' parties. We will be the last to know what they agreed on months earlier, just after the press..

What do ye reckon, Boxy - war or bluster?

The preamble, is stronger than the long drawn out one before the Iraq invasion, Is that just the style of the new POTUS, or serious intention. I really don't have a scooby, second guessing The USA latest intentions is very difficult. Obviously hope it's not war, but regime change from within, but who the hell is brave enough for that.

We will certainly be the last to know, and the decisions have most likely been already made, as you said above.

He or she has already been picked. Let's not forget that China blocked some coal ships from entering their waters the other week just after their leader had been to visit Sir Donald. Whatever happens is with China's blessing imho.

North Korea has had nuclear weapons for over 20 years so it's not as if they've just arrived. Years ago no one went near NK precisely because they didn't want to take on China as well. But now they do?

The South Koreans seem to be really quiet in this episode for a country that is about to be hit with nuclear bombs. And yes the north koreans have had nuclear weapons for some time now. The Iran-Paksitan-North Korea connection if you dig deep. They'll probably only get in as much trouble as Iran and Pakistan do. Don't think the americans will go for an all out conflict. Their nuclear weapons will save them at the end me thinks. If not, then South Korea should at the very least look for a new capital city.

All seems very suspicious to me. Syria, Afghanistan and now N Korea all in a short space of time. Just at the time the Whitehouse had some serious questions to answer back home.

The removal of Park Geun-hye, has upset the apple cart This from the NYT, 'Park Geun-hye, the nation’s first female president and the daughter of the Cold War military dictator Park Chung-hee, had been an icon of the conservative establishment that joined Washington in pressing for a hard line against North Korea’s nuclear provocations.

Now, her downfall is expected to shift South Korean politics to the opposition, whose leaders want more engagement with North Korea and are wary of a major confrontation in the region. They say they will re-examine the country’s joint strategy on North Korea with the United States and defuse tensions with China.

Is this one of the reasons the USA appears to have the 'hurry up' approach

If ye dig even deeper you will find that the yanks are still utterly píssed off with Pakistan for allowing John the Baptist to live under their noses for years.

And of course the yanks truly love the Khomeini clan..

That's exactly what's been bugging me, namely South's lack of reaction to unprovoked american aggression. I know the americans guarantee their security but that is not a good enough excuse for them to come charging, putting South Korea at the risk of nuclear war. I know the risk already exists. But Kim's rants are different and have existed for a long time. He hasn't gone any crazier to justify the buildup.

As for the americans being p1ssed at Pakistan, that is all they can be. Pakistan plays the games for its own existence in the region. And were it not for their own nuclear weapons, and the double game in Afghanistan, they'd probably be another Iraq. One thing the present times have shown us, if you've got nuclear weapons, no one touches you. A good deterrant against super power bullying which is why the americans preach nuclear proliferation to everyone. North Korea should get away with it as well imo. Lets see

The only reason Pakistan can protect the world's most wanted man and still show the world the middle finger - Nuclear Weapons. North Korea figured that out long ago just like Pakistan and Kim can afford to show his fat middle finger as well.
