Flash Gordon (1936) Shown in the 50s but repeated a few times since. The 1936 Princess Aura was scrumptious.

United!
United! was a British television series which was produced by the BBC between 1965 and 1967, and was broadcast twice-weekly on BBC1. The series followed the fortunes of a fictional second division football team, Brentwich United. The football scenes were filmed on the grounds of Stoke City with Jimmy Hill acting as a technical advisor, and the efforts to achieve authenticity saw the show being criticised by the then management of Wolverhampton Wanderers, who complained that the series was based on their team. As was common television practice of the time, the series' videotapes were wiped for reuse. As a result, none of its 147 episodes are believed to have survived |

Remember taping episodes of The Time Tunnel in the early 90's but not sure its been shown in recent years.

Triangle (WIKI ... generally remembered as "some of the most mockable British television ever produced). NAP
(closely followed by El Dorado WIKI ... was used by critics of the television licence to argue that the corporation was feathering the nest of former employees - no change there then) next question, please? |

The Fugitive TV series in the 60s was brilliant, and stands up well today.
Would go down a storm if repeated. |

Going back to the OP mentioning Armchair Thriller, I remember this clip frightening the crap out of me when I was a kid!

Tom & Jerry.
When I was a kid, never ever thought it was violent. Never ever thought seeing a scared women's legs, with Nora Batty type stockings, was anything at all to do with racism. Bloody political correctness. |

The fall and rise of Reginald Perrin (the proper one not the mediocre remake with Martin Clunes) is well overdue being reshown.
|
|
By:
Whodunnit? They showed a murder and the panel had to solve the crime. Jon Pertwee was the presenter. Patrick Mower was very good at it iirc (although in this more cynical age we'd wonder if he'd not been tipped off beforehand).

So long as they only repeat the first two magnificent series ......the third one was terrible.

Jim'll Fix It
... I can't think of any justifiable reason that these three aren't still on tv. Not sure why Jim'll Fix It was ever on tv. Forget the sex stuff -- he was a bloody awful broadcaster who could barely string a sentence together. |

YT has a few play for todays? I think about six? Uncle Vanya with Hopkins was there? they have the story of - Breaking the Code: Biography of Alan Turing (Derek Jacobi, BBC, 1996) this is a lot better than the cartoon performance by benedict the over rated? |
|
By:
yeah have watched a few of the playhouse /play for todays on yt a few years back , loved the gritty down to earth plays ,also watched grown ups.......... funny !

Armchair Thriller used to scare the sh1t outta me. The opening credits and that theme tune would give me nightmares
![]() the old Flash Gordon chapters is a great shout. They used to be on over Christmas. my list of shows to be brought back include Rocket Man (black n white superhero serial, bit like iron man, but with very basic gadgets - just a backpack with a rocket engine )The Invisible Man Gemini Man Petrocelli Charlies Angels (Kate Jackson )Loads of great cartoons as well, my faves include Hong Kong Phooey Captain Caveman Wacky Races |

Agree about Hill Street Blues, dambuster. But of course it was the actors and personalities that made it and that cannot be replicated if they made a new series, but the old series would be great. Although I suppose it is out on dvd now?
Mick Belker, Phil Esterhaus, Andy Sipowicz etc etc all brilliant in their own way. I don't think you could get a show like that today because the actors were really men, unlike today's fairy puffs. It did not matter that they were not good looking, they oozed sex appeal. |

Love to see Big Deal as well
