Foinavon...I dare ye to have a go at drawing FELICIA CRANBERRY...Excited
Laters Vel, there is a showing of Bo Geesty on film 4 this afternoon which is a must see. ![]() I don't have the computerised thingumybob to alter photos so will have to make do with pen and paper ![]() Aubrey Beardsley would have loved the background watsit behind Mz Cranberry's ear. Although he might have preferred black ink. |
|
By:
I didn't use a computer - I used me trusty felt pens...drawing is 20cm by 20cm...
![]() Did it while listening to the boring Man Utd game. Part of the reasons why it's so different is that I found it hard to judge the thickness of the black lines. |
|
By:
Have just submitted a new miss Cranberry to the BF panel of art critics.
You have a very good likeness then. Cool hand Luke ![]() |

Have taped CRANBERRY to my painting of Galileo and Kinane...the real difference is that Zorro's original is spontaneous.

MD - When A PLACE TO CALL HOME first appeared on bbc2, about 2 or 3 years ago, it became a word of mouth hit amongst female viewers, and the AUSSIE import dvds were selling for £50 for one series, on ebay, at that time.
If the bbc had put it against DOWNTON ABBEY on a Sunday night, it would have been a huge hit...real arrogance of the bbc not to give credit to a non-bbc foreign import. |
|
By:
BBC - don't show USA comedy - Frasier, Cheers etc. (ch4 does)
they showed Seinfeld at one in the morning on BBC2 for a few months then dropped it. Did the same with the wire? ![]() |
|
By:
Thanks, Vel. If I'm ever in need of anything else to watch, I will check it out
![]() I'm just catching up with last night's The Halcyon. It's not brilliant but I'm sticking with it ![]() The Halcyon should have been shown on a Sunday, it is typical Sunday evening viewing. |

Foinavon - got 2 really nice books at the chemists yesterday for 50p each - they have a charity trolly. Got CRICKET'S GREAT ENTERTAINERS BY HENRY BLOFELD...some good photos in it...I don't like or watch cricket but cricket books tend to be much better than any other kind of sports books, except maybe boxing books. Have read the chapter on Imran Khan...WG Grace and KS Ranjitsinhji photo from 1908...rain stopped play...

|
By:
Well, you have two cricket books more than me. In fact, I don't have any books on sport. Are there any photos worth turning into paintings?
Did you know that former England wicket-keeper Jack Russell is a professional artist? He has done some paintings of cricket matches in progress but I'm not keen on them, too much green. I've loved watching cricket ever since my dad used to take me to Trent Bridge as a schoolboy. That's a long time ago. If you know something about the game, Test cricket has the best in-play betting markets on here in my opinion as they haven't been destroyed by bots.(Yet). |
|
By:
Yes, and I remember catching some test matches in the 80s where the cameras would zoom out to show an artist painting the match...I used to exhibit boxing paintings with The Wingfield Sporting Gallery (now defunct) back in the 80s, and there were a lot of boating scenes, like Henley regatta etc...and ladies at Royal Ascot, etc.
|
|
By:
I'll list the photos...ALFRED MYNN...GILBERT JESSOP...CHARLES FRY...VICTOR TRUMPER...JACK HOBBS...WARWICK ARMSTRONG...DON BRADMAN...DENIS COMPTON...LEARIE CONSTANTINE...GARY SOBERS...KEITH MILLER...I CAN ACTUALLY MAKE OUT ONE OF CHEDDARY JEFF'S ANCESTORS INTERFERING WITH COLIN MILBURN'S STROKE.......THEN IT MOVES TO COLOUR PHOTOS...
|
|
By:
Boxing is an excellent medium for painting, I would agree and I bet yours were in demand. Did you paint them from photographs? It would be hard to capture the action from real life.
