Seven bottles of decent red wine for £23.62!

I have never seen wine so cheap as lately with all the supermarkets falling over themselves to go lower and lower.

Currently Tesco has a 25% discount if you buy 6 bottles or more, but the real killer is that some of their best value wines are also reduced even before the discount.

I like Wolf Blass yellow label cabernet sauvignon which in the past I have bought for £10 but is now on offer at Tesco for £6.50 LESS 25% discount!

Again I like Casillero del Diablo cabernet sauvignon which has been retailing for £8 but is now £5.50 LESS 25% DISCOUNT.

The seven botttles I bought today are another real bargain.  'Wotwine' values the wine at £6.00 but Tesco sells it for £4.50 LESS 25% discount. For just over £3.00 a bottle it is a bargain.  The wine is Tesco Vineyards Malbec.  Don't buy the other 'Vineyards' wine as I have tried some and they are not very good.

I know Tesco have been guilty of false 'reductions' of poor wine by selling it overpriced at say £10 and then reducing it to £5 but the above wines are not in that category.  The Diablo red wine was said by the daily mail to be the best value cabernet sauvignon in the world!  I usually read the daily telegraph I might add.

Tesco often do the 25% promotion but normally do not have the reductions on decent wine as well.

I usually like marks and spencer wine but they are a lot dearer, but they have 25% discount promotions as well but they are careful not to reduce them at the same time Sad

Ooops, forgot to say that the promotion ends this Sunday.  The reductions on the individual wines last a bit longer, but look on the reduction ticket for when it ends.

I knew someone would have a go about cheap wine, but I never thought it would be you, terry Happy

Unhappily I cannot afford £22 a bottle as I drink a bottle  a day at the moment.  Mind you my drinking varies.  Sometimes none, sometimes half a bottle.

I used to love white wine, especially sparkling, but switched to red to cut down!

Crikey, £22 a bottle is good? I won't look at anything over £7.

terry - you need to get down here to Sussex to buy our Sparkling on site at mate's rates or equiv.  Nyetimber is lovely but compared to an equiv. Champagne, £22 is about the right price.

Unfortunately, trilby, I think the 25% reduction does not apply to wines less than £4.00 a bottle.  The malbec I mentioned would be less that the £3.50 south african you mention.  Have you tasted this one?

To be honest I could probably afford to buy dearer wine, but I worry that if I found something that I loved then I would drink a lot more.  Not good Sad

I often think about living in spain in the winter terry, do they sell a variety of wine or is it mostly spanish as I am not a lover of spanish red wine.  Though some cava is decent at a cheap price, but I might go back to four bottles a day which I used to do years and years agoSad

I have often thought that it would not be much dearer to live in spain if you take the cheap wine and fruit, veg etc into account.

Same here, terry, I thought crags might be okay after all, then he went and spoiled it Sad

I say every year I am going to america, especially las vegas, but I never do.  I suppose I am a homebody.  Give me a book, a bottle of wine and a poker game and I am happy at home.
