your brain will do anything you command it to do,so just tell it a few times to make sure and take you to heaven in your final hour.
that should sort it out for you.So you will be there weather there is a heaven or not,and you can also choose what it will be  like with your imagination.just like telling your brain that you are on a beach with a beautiful girl.
you close your eyes and imagine.Cool

if I tell my brain to spell correctly,it will tell me to get up off my backside, and go and learn how to spell.
it will always give you an answer, but I am sure it would help me if I really wanted to spell correctly, but my brain knows me well and is happier to let me fumble along with my miss spelt vocabulary.

you are in alinement with the universe if the conscious and the subconscious are in harmony.
This is an excellent time to tell yourself where you are in life and where you would like to be.with both your minds working together, you will get a perfect answer.
Now is the time to check your available to bet balance and regardless of what it might be tell your brain (both minds)you wish to increase it to 50 grand.(the answers on
how to do will flow into your conscious)
Trust me.badjoe,in 20 minutes you will know how to get to your 50 grand goal, the answers will arrive if you think about it.

My personal take on the whole God thing is that he/she is not some bearded man in the sky or whatever but in everything and outside of everything. If everything was fine and rosy all the time, you wouldn't appreciate being happy. A lot of evil is created by humans and not God. However, I also think that some people are born bad (I don't know why this would be the case but I don't know all the secrets to the universe)

The trouble with Atheism for me is that it seems to solve the head problem you have but it doesn't solve the emotional problem. To just tell me the reason were here is just 'Because' or just one big massive coincidence isn't good enough for me. Although I don't believe in religion, causes too many problems for me and seems to divide people rather than unite.

I've also had some things happen to me which can't be explained. I've done some research into it and it seems I've had some sort of spiritual awakening. A realization if you like.

Of course if your an Atheist, it's all just total bs and I'm mentally ill. Grin

Id personally like to know of those who do believe if they have ever had chemically induced synthetic euphoria from a range of drugs.
If they have then Id like them to explain how, whatever it was that signaled some kind of presence of god within compared with the euphoria that can be easily explained as a direct result of drug effects on the brain.
Id hazard a guess that chemical drugs produced a much stronger sensation as their 'natural one' was simply less of the similar chemical release within their brains stimulated via 'natural' agents.
(for eg. dopamine in small parts are released when you view a photo of your family)

Interesting stuff - lots of wiggling and insults by those who believe in god ... lots of psychobabble also

but as I asked in the OP, where's the evidence?  You know, the real evidence.

I'm still waiting.

You lot talk about evidence as if it's the only thing that matters.

For example, a horse race. You can look at all the form you want but it doesn't necessarily mean you'll pick the winner.

I'm afraid that, for me, I need evidence to believe in something like god.

Just been told there's a god and people saying it louder and louder doesn't persuade me.

And your horse racing analogy is nothing to do with it ... but if you believe in god the I suppose your analogy makes sense to you - but not to me, it doesn't.

Come on, where's the (any) evidence?

no one  has ever seen a ghost
no one has ever seen a UFO
no one has ever witnessed anything supernatural
no one has ever seen a miracle
no one can bend spoons with their mind
no one has had a prayer answered.

Some things have to be believed to be seen

arrr yes the old 'leap of faith' con trick

this can be explained by making something appear greater than the sum of its parts.
If you try really really hard then the value you put in is amplified by the fact you expect to see a result, even farts on the wind become whispers from god

mememe,

I too need evidence. I didn't just go one day, 'I want to believe in God just for the sake of it.' I slowly came to this conclusion after a few events that have happened to me which have stood out from the normal day to day. I agree with you though on the religion, no one else can help you find God. You have to find it out yourself.

lfc1971,

For me, there are too many sightings/accounts for them all to be bs.

Sorry, but you're back to front.

I contend there is no god, and ask for evidence, that's all.

Just because we have a universe etc doesn't prove to me there is a god.

Anything that isnt part of the normal day is seen by humans to be impossible.
But the truth is things can happen within normality that arnt everyday experiences.
Things that arnt impossible just highly improbable.
Physics explains these events as certainties, even though they might have a probability of say 10,000,000,0000..../1

Im afraid the atheist has done much more in the providing of rational thought toward the explanation of events than some random creationist belief system ever has.
I wouldnt mind but religion has changed its mind so often as one by one each assumption is proven to be wrong.

The scientist doesnt threaten anyone just tries to use evidence based thought
The creationist instead threatens all who dont buy into their belief, without providing any evidence to back it up.

the response i expected mem. the religions say the creator is god...so you are saying that nothing created us....im not happy with your response can you please explain to me how we came into existence? everything surely has a beginning? prove to me there is no creator...its only fair....you want religious people...even if they are a bit bonkers....to prove god exists...but you cant prove he doesnt...that doesnt seem fair mate

I see what you saying it's just all odds.

The trouble with the God thing is, to me you can't properly explain it. It's trying to describe the undescribable.

If you want to find God, search for Him from your heart.  Simples.

Most people find God in their head, because in their minds is where he exists. God is the collective consciousness of the section of humanity which "believes".

IMO

Richard Dawkins did a really good job of explaining how things could well have come into existence, and sums up evolution beautifully so anyone can grasp how it all might have happened.
And non of his work points to god

thats the thing...our species is not intelligent enough to prove or disprove  his existence. lets call him the creator not god...think that confuses people. i cant think of anything that comes from nothing. eartquakes and other natural disasters we can pinpoint where and how they formed. all we have is the big bang theory...quite clearly both questions - proving and disproving a creator - is unfair to bioth sides. nobody can answer it so lets all just enjoy the 100 odd years we get on this planet and hopefully we find the answers after we die
