Good afternoon fkqmz. Was wondering when you would show up again. Not quite as long as waiting for JC though.

1350 BC (approx) God inflicted the following plagues upon Egypt to persuade the then Pharaoh to release the ill-treated Israelites from slavery.
Water into blood Frogs Lice Wild animals, possibly flies Diseased livestock Boils Thunderstorm of hail and fire ( Locusts Darkness Death of firstborn However in the last 100 years we have had... 6 million Jews killed by the Nazis, millions starving in Africa and the Catholic Church sexually abusing their young flock. HAVE WE HAD ANY form of divine intervention??? Nope, Nada..... Not even a tap dance. |

The reason the Israelites went to Egypt in the first place was for refuge against a famine. Eventually they became enslaved and wanted to leave. The pharoah refused permission so God sent the first plague. After each plague we are told that God hardened the pharoah's heart which brought about another plague. Bit sadistic of God wasn't it?
When the Israelites eventually left, pharoah sent his army after them and God had the army drowned in the Red sea. God could have avoided the whole sorry episode had he just relieved the famine in the first place and as he is "all knowing" would have known what was about to happen. Doesn't sound all that compassionate does it? |
|
By:
the funny thing about it all is that it is impossible to prove that God exists but equally it is impossible to prove he does not exist.
until man finds out the workings of the universe that keep it operating like clock wor****il someone comes back from the dead and tells us about god, until judgement day,or until god presents himself to the world,or until science admits that the beginning of time was a miracle or accident we will never know. 1.01 s are turned over every day of the week, are they accidents or miracles,or are the both. |
|
By:
he he,i was posting the words clock-work,with the next word until, and I got stared for the last letter in clockwork and the first 3 letters in until, now that's a miracle.

![]() The laws of physics just mean that matter and energy interact in a predictable way. Miracles by definition mean that the laws of physics are suspended for a moment in time. This doesn't happen as far as we know, if it did everything would fall apart. |

but they know nothing about ante matter or ante dark energy, all they have is einsteins E=MC2.and now they say the maths don't work on it,something to do with quantum theory and the photon being in two places at the same time.
its back to the drawing board for science,if they can not combine the quantum theory with Alberts theory. |
|
By:
Brassneck, we know an awful lot about antimatter, it is produced naturally during radioactive decay and where high energy collisions between particles occur.Scientists routinely make antiparticles under laboratory conditions. We have a lot more knowledge about matter and energy than Einstein's equation.
|
|
By:
then tell me where the anti matter is in the universe.the anti matter is the dark matter that they know is there but they can not see it,they can not find it,they don't even know where to look for it.
|
|
By:
Antimatter isn't dark matter. I don't profess to know everything about the universe and neither does anyone who is being honest. I knew enough physics to get a degree about 50 years ago and I know things have moved on since then. I also know enough not to make wild statements about the cosmos when I have limited knowledge.
|
|
By:
Anyway Foinavon there is no point me and you bantering about something the scientists invented and can not explain themselves.
but I do respect your views, and I can see you are interested in the workings of the universe. my own view is that the universe is shaped like a doughnut with a big super massive black hole in the middle of it and our days are numbered.i say we have a few years left before the SMBH Swallows us all up,so I am hoping god arrives before this and beats the SMBH in a photo finish. ![]() |

I admire your curiosity and good humour brassneck. Live long and prosper.

anti matter is the reverse of the matter in the universe,Alberts e=mc2 says a lot about it.the m stands for the matter of the universe and it is the equation of everything.Albert talks a lot about anti matter in this.(in fact they only discovered he was correct about his theory on anti matter late in life)
for 30 years his theory on anti matter was in a drawer collecting dust) |
|
By:
No matter (no pun intended) what the scientists say it proves nothing one way or another.
TMM their is no evidence of a god except for what we call mother Nature. |
|

But for me the big question is when was the first second of TIME created.some say it was when God clicked his fingers, others say time started the same time as the first second of the big bang.but I ask myself what about the seconds before these occurances..
|
|
By:
And if you ask a scientist this question ,when was the first second of time created"he will tell you that there is no such thing as time.time does not exist.
![]() ![]() |
|
By:
You can't have a beginning because wherever you point the finger the next question will be what happened before that.
We will never be able to understand what surrounds our world. How vast is it? No answer to that. |
|
By:
but I still wonder.
![]() |
|
By:
The unfortunate answer is we haven't the capacity to understand the beginning as by definition there can't be a beginning.
|
|
By:
so something started from nothing OR something was always there.
![]() |
|
By:
nothing comes from nothing
|
|
By:
that means something was always there(if dontwin2easy is correct when he says"nothing comes from nothing")
so all we have to do is think of something always was and always will be. ![]() |
|
By:
hell i don't know, im just quoting that bloke from stratford
|
|
By:
Whatever but it doesn't prove there is a god.
|
|
By:
I think we are getting down to an answer for the opening poster.
we have it down to one thing. ITS SOMETHING THAT WAS ALWAYS THERE.IT CREATED THE UNIVERSE.IT STILL CONTROLS THE UNIVERSE AND IT HAS TO BE AN INTELLIGENT FORCE. Sounds like its a god. he he I can see it now in the headlines in all newspapers. BETFAIR FORUMITES PROVE THERE IS A GOD. ![]() |

Hallelujah praise be to the lord.

It's the mentality that's wrong.
Just because an explanation is inconclusive it doesn't mean proof of God. Why can't ppl accept that existence isn't some romantic concept made for your whim. Every single time through out history the pious jumped to conclusions, realised they were wrong and shuffled their papers a bit then made exactly the same mistake again. The constellation of planets, earthquakes, the denouncing of anything new as work of the devil....etc etc. It's like pavlov's dog ffs. |
|
By:
I know there is a distinction between a creator and religion, but there is a significant overlap due to the vast majority who believe in a creator being religious.
But 'a creator' could end up just as likely ton be a set of circumstances as it is some higher entity. A question I'd like to as of those that believe in heaven etc is; which version of you do you believe will exist there? I hear it time and again that people want to believe they will see loved ones again. Well if that included elderly relatives then what form will they be in, an old version just for you? Does that mean if you die old you remain old forever or do you get the luxury of existing at your peak, and if so you'll no doubt never recognise your own grand parents. I'd predict the answer people will come up with will be some ethereal codswallop like 'you will be all things always' |
|
By:
yep. and there wont be that many to enter heaven. so if you have a family of 5 or 6...surely a few of them wont make it so how will those that do be happy?
also never understood why some of these rotten disgusting insects and other things(a few forumites) were created. i know that they are necessary for certain things but if you were a god that wouldn't matter would it. lots of questions that cant be answered. i hope the reincarnation theory is incorrect. imagine coming back as prey and being fully concious. worst nightmare |

checkout mecca crane thread

|
By:
Some took offence at my pun on the Mecca crane thread. Perhaps it was in bad taste but I see the irony in following a make believe character, especially in a hate filled religion such as Islam.
Why would an all seeing compassionate god destroy his house of worship and kill his flock? RIP those poor people but this sums up the whole religion farce that this thread is about. |
|
By:
I glossed over most of this thread but seen fkqmz reply to my quote.
I can hardly believe what I done last week but you believe the word of people who wrote down their accounts 40 years after they happened? History is a great subject but something that has to be put in perspective. It's usually written by the victors an has to be taken in context. The bible was written by many people, often from stories that were word of mouth or many years after the events. They were changed and rewritten many times. I've said before, if there is a higher being then he has no bearing on my life or anyone elses. Why not remove the need for one? |

why would a god say

It was a poet, Edgar Allen Poe, and not a scientist who first realised that the universe was expanding and how old it must be.
