A strange one that has me flummoxed..

Plod reckons they have no proof of her being harmed?
If the Latvian builder abducted her - how, with his bike? If he had a car in wait, plod haven't released any details of it.
4 days before they contacted Latvia about him.
Cameras supposedly alll over the area but plod only have a couple of glimpses of her.
Why hasn't the canal been dragged? This would fit in with plod saying they have no proof of her being harmed.
Is there any chance she ran off with this bloke? Did she run off with someone else? Once again plod saying nowt.
They haven't once said they fear for her safety, which is standard for a suspected abduction.
Family involvement? Other suspects have been interviewed.

Weird.

CCDA all over this one

Very strange Journos in Lativa saying "search goes on for whatshisname" in same breath as saying no european arrest warrant for him. Crazy

An arrest warrant? On what charge? At the moment this is a missing person inquiry. The same seems to apply to him, as well.

Never knew this bit
Scotland Yard also denied reports that the link between the missing 14-year-old and the main suspect was only made when a journalist saw “missing” posters for him. The posters had been put up by Mr Zalkaln's girlfriend on the same stretch of canal in southwest London where Alice went missing.

Aye Elise, but if they thought the worst had happend, surely they would have dragged it.

They realease details of a knife they've found and yet still insist they have no proof she's come to harm. That particular wording is what has me puzzled.

they are clearly linked, the question is did they run away together or has there been a murder

she could of course have murdered him, not likely but it's an option

Zalklans was last seen on 3 September, and reported missing on 5 September, Alice went missing on 28 August. Could be just a coincidence?

Plod have already opened 2 reviews of their own investigation, so odds on a massive fook up somewhere

So he didn't actually do one sharpish. He was out and about for 6 days after Alice last seen.

seems so, guess he didnt show any signs of doing one either, otherwise the gf wouldnt be worried enough to pt up posters. We dont know alot, his gf and work I guess would be interviewed to see what he did in the day Alice went missing and subsequent days.

Could be scapegoat, police love them

Zalklans not connected.  Police know who is responsible for her disappearance but trying to scapegoat Zalkans because perp is a valuable informer is my theory, sarge.

Saw the parents being interviewed earlier, they were hardly in bits, very calm.

No obvious body language giveaways though, normally when someone is nervous, they are touching their hair or neck when asked awkward questions.

The investigation team has followed at least 729 lines of inquiry, spoken to 1,067 people and taken more than 1,000 calls but there have been no confirmed sightings of Alice.

In 3 and half hours nobody saw a young girl walking in that style in that area. She must have stopped somewhere, walking at that pace she would have covered over 12 miles.

Place must be deserted.

How could you not notice her if you were there?

I must admit that I don't quite see how 'looking at the floor' should be taken as a sign of guilt. Where else should he look when his wife is addressing the camera?

Don't think they're involved in any way, but they do seem a tad unnatural, both of them. "The scale which people have been taking part, supporting, sending us messages is totally unprecedented and it makes a massive difference to us…" 'Totally unprecedented?'He’s not talking like someone who’s daughter might have had something terrible happen to her at the hands of a nutter, but like his house has been flooded for the eighth time and is a bit down about it. I suspect they know more than they are allowed to say, or are just a bit weird.

Strange behaviour from the father g2d. Smiled when asked what might have happened to Alice and going on about the ribbons.
He didn't come across as a worried parent. I doubt I could control my emotions in those circumstances but he was in total control throughout.
By:

the police have probably stressed that there is "no evidence that she has come to any harm", so I suspect the parents are holding on to hope. Hence the repeated "come home, we need you home". Although I would be in bits i suspect.
