The lad that shot the accountant will be cursing the McCanns for bringing in the extra viewers tonight.

How many nights did they leave the kids out of sight/sound so they could dine out?

It was a few nights in a row?

It was 6 nights, and Madeleine had already woken up crying and the babysitting service at the resort had offered to look after her for 10 (euros?) a night but the McCanns refused.... this was despite the fact that the babysitting staff also worked at the Kids' Club which all three children attended during the day.

I think Madeleine was drugged - she had a severe reaction and died.  They had to remove the body because the post-morten would show the drugs and they knew they would effectively lose their lives - career and children gone. Abduction was supposed to be the answer.

I can't get my head around people accusing the parents.

Leaving their children alone in an apartment - Guilty.

Accidentally killing one of them and hiding the body - Innocent.

Absolutely no doubt about that.

people don't trust the parents as they have not done everything to help the investigation

why will Kate not answer questions? why would they not go back to help the investigation? why will she not stand up in court to testify?

surely you'd be more than willing to do all these things if it could in any possible way help find out what happened your daughter

maybe the y refused the crech service because the others int he tapas gang persuaded them there was no need for the crech...just check up now and then.

although this has to be questioned.
if they didnt check the night before was it a coincidence that the other couple checked the same night and if they did check every night why didnt the mccanns check the night before?

the other couple may have coppied the mccanns feeling guilty but i do find it odd.

can anyone confirm the movements of this other couple?.
were there others in the tapas bar....guessing there must have been.

depends how soon the police started to think it was them?

maybe they were scratching their heads over it like we are and are thinking somethings dont add up.

The McCanns went jogging every day after Madeleine’s disappearance, even making careful notes of their times, then displaying all this information on Dr Gerry McCann’s daily blog. He even arranged tennis matches and played tennis,  while hundreds of others were physically searching the area around Praia da Luz in the days following Madeleine’s ‘disappearance’. The McCanns later admitted publicly that they spent no time at all physically searching for their lost daughter.

but we're scratching our heads as detached observers, they were the parents of a supposedly abducted child - would you not be frantic, distraught, hysterical... not phoning lawyers, playing tennis and popping off to see the Pope?

they did so many strange things immediately after the dissaperance its not all right.

Jogging the day after? tennis games within a few days, special lawyers almost immediately.

Didnt local police say the where being obstructive and not very helpful too?

Add to this they wont do lie detector tests.

All is all  very strange indeed.

Andusing the find madeline funds to pay of their mortgage, fly all over the world, hmmmmm ok.

Agreed. My gut feeling was always that the parents had nothing to do with it but i'm not so sure now. So many unanswered questions and strange goings on that part of me now thinks they must know something.
To be honest though i doubt we'll ever know the truth or that she'll ever be found.

The parents have been criticised and vilified for leaving the children alone on that awful day.

(And, God alone knows what mental anguish and torture they must have been through since then).

But, putting that aside for one moment, there is something very "extra-ordinary" about

their whole attitude. Are they really so detached from the opinions of so-called "ordinary"

people that they do not realise that behaving in a certain (shall I say more human?) way at the time might have helped

their "standing" - particularly back here in Britain. I honestly believe, and hope, that they had nothing to do with their

little girl's disappearance but they seem to have done nothing to endear themselves to the general public at all.

It's all very well to say things like -We deal with our grief in our own way. In private, or by carrying on with tennis

lessons, jogging etc- and it is true that everyone deals with trauma/heartache differently. But these people have often

come across (publicly) as cold and indifferent. The whole media circus, Maddie funds, books, etc have distorted things out

of all proportion and I don't believe there will ever be a satisfactory outcome to this tragic case. But (in my "ordinary

person" opinion) the McCanns seem doomed to be remembered not as those "poor parents who lost their little girl" but as

something totally opposite.

The McCanns deserve all the criticism they get.

Anyone with half a brain cell knows investigations like this where quick results are needed will use statistics to start off.

In a massive % of these types of cases, the parents play some part in the childs death. Now no one is claiming they committed the crime, but if the McCanns believe there was anything unusual about them being investigated during the early stages of the investigation, then they are even more stupid than they look.

I totally agree, they came across rather unfortunately, plus they seemed to want to keep thinking they'd done nothing wrong.

I believe they made a terrible mistake by leaving the kids alone but that doesn't mean they deserve what happened.
Thing is, they may even be unlikable characters but that, again doesn't make them monsters.

I watched a clip on Youtube of 2007 Panarama, Kate was saying how they checked on the kids in turns, 'it wasn't late' and 'the system worked'.
Well, the system clearly didn't work, but maybe admitting to that fact seemed to awful to comprehend.

Yeahyeahwhatever - I've just taken over an hour to read the article you posted earlier.
http://www.cwporter.com/mccann.htm

Must admit that my whole attitude towards the McCanns has changed after reading it. The inconsistencies are unbelieveable. There are question marks over virtually every aspect of their account and their subsequent behaviour is inconsistent with genuinely distressed parents.

I would suggest that anyone who is truly interested in the truth should take the time to read the article which contains stuff which is not common knowledge. I must admit that I had not intended to read the whole thing but I was so flabbergasted by what I was reading I felt compelled to finish it. The author has gone to great lengths hopefully with good intentions.
