Ayers your very critical of the portuguese police. As I said a few pages back they acted very similar to how the British police would act in such circumstances. There was no evidence of an abduction that was seen by the police or the McCanns that there was a break in or an abduction. What evidence are you saying the police were traipsing all over?

Personally i would never put myself in a position where i was the only person with a child who was not my own. I think most men would feel the same way. But these men in the tapas group were going into the childrens bedroom by themselves on a regular basis.

MC The Judge (Maria Emília de Melo e Castro) RP: Ricardo Paiva (Portuguese Police Inspector) MC – What are the revelations of the book? RP asks the Judge to explain... MC interrupts and repeats – What is new in this book? RP Compared to the investigation, nothing. The Judge seizes the book, on her desk, and waves it in the direction of the screen. MC – Doesn't the cover say it has unique revelations? TVI's lawyer says "no". The Judge asks him to kindly not comment. RP answers that there is nothing new in the book. MC – Shall I have to conclude then that what's on the cover is misleading publicity? RP mumbles. MC – Is there or is there not? RP mumbles. MC insists again and again RP mumbles. MC – Then there are no revelations! There is a few seconds silence, like a relief after a tension. http://miscarriageofjustice.co/index.php?topic=2585.0 Doesnt look like the court case is going well for the mccanns |

it seems from earlier posts on this thread, that the adults in the tapas group were in turn giving the kids a bath. wonder if this lot were a kind of sect

lots of unsettling stuff the more you read...
the "Gaspar" statement is quite chilling!!. |

ffs we know knowing, its worse than an joke
it should be said that these are portraits of the same man, one is of the man 6 years ago that was then aged with a software program, the other is a portrait that was done based on the accounts given by several people. This is very problematic. The creation of identikit pictures is a complex process, imagine if someone would ask you, Andreia, to give an account of the facial features of someone that you saw just for a few seconds, that would be already difficult, and even more so if a picture is created based on 5 or 6 witnesses accounts, where the reliability of those accounts is close to nil. So, what we have here is the face of a man, and a description given by several people, and this is where I believe a huge mistake is being made since the e-fit could be matched to almost all the men in the world, between the ages of 20 to 40. Portugese again, nailing it. When uk told nothing http://miscarriageofjustice.co/index.php?topic=2708.0 |

If you were abducting a child like this - would you go on foot and carry her out over your shoulder through the streets for all to see
no but if you wanted someone to think it was an abduction you would. |

Any concrete proof yet? any body? any witnesses that saw them bury a body? any motive to hide an accidental death? que?
the defence lawyer says he made a conclusion to what is already evident in the criminal investigations that have been made public Book title: The Truth of the Lie Copies sold 125,000 Profit: Over a million Off the back of a Dead child - apparently. The mccanns want publicity from the case - nevermind damages for making unproven conclusions that have derailed the search and blackened their name. |
By:
that have derailed the search and blackened their name.
is this the search that they didn't really seem to be bothered with in the days just after the disappearance...)by common consent the most important time in an "abduction" ...preferring to converse with the uk press...legal minds.....etc...and when they had finished with that little detour what did they do.....had a bit of a jog and a jolly old game of tennis !!!!!!!! |

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-24597250
interesting take on this story from the bbc , hope for Ben Needham's parents . There is not a shred of evidence this is an abducted child the term "alledged " is used in the charge . The DNA test would have revealed what the ethinicity of that child was and they could narrow it down ,but its just story to leave us hanging imo . the family are disputing the claim they abducted the child .blond haired 4yo girl ...what was the odds of that ? I find it amazing the timing of this WHY NOT HIGHLIGHT ALL THE MISSING CHILDREN WHO HAVE NEVER BEEN RECOVERED IN MAINLAND EUROPE ? HOW MANY CHILDREN HAVE WENT MISSING UNDER 4 AND NOT BEEN RECOVERED IN THE LAST 4 YEARS ? they are trying to plant the seed ,gypsy child abduction and trafficking gangs. ![]() |
By:
so many people are at a point of no return over this case.
My guess is we will never know the truth about what really happened to the poor little girl unless someone decides to come clean and tell the truth... sadly this sorry tale revolves in the main around the fiction with many of the facts being overlooked. ![]() |

The trial in Portugal might be as close as we get.
Amaral is saying his book is based solely on Portugese police investigation and where that is unfinished, he added the the most probable conclusion. McCanns are saying its all lies he made up. |
By:
Breadnbutter. Hmmm. So, are you suggesting that the Greek authorities return the girl to the Romas and 're-find' her at a time that is less amazing to you?
Who is/are the 'they' who are planting seeds? I believe the report DID say that DNA testing indicated a likelihood of certain areas for the child's origin. |
By:
The McCanns are NOT saying it is ALL lies. Amaral is peddling his book as TRUTH. He could have called it "What I think happened" but he didn't. He called it "The Truth of the Lie" (or similar) which is noxthing more than sensationalism!
The contents of this work of fiction have, indeed, hindered the search for the child, whilst making a nice little nest-egg for him. The book also indicates that it contains 'new revelations' when, in fact, it does not. I would suggest that Amaral has overstepped the mark in an attempt to discredit the McCanns in any way he could. The Portuguese court will decide. |
By:
his book does contain some new stuff such as his claim that a member of the Tapas 9 identified an ex-pat Brit as the man she saw carrying a child away from the apartment
By:
well ok, If McCanns are saying Amarals probable conclusion based on the investigation is incorrect. All he has to prove is that what he added to the report is a reasonable conclusion to make given the evidence.
His publishers cant call it "A rehash of Portugese shelving report written to make a bit of money". Is he wrong to focus the book on the percentage chance that Madeleine died that night, whilst UK media concentrate on the percentage chance she was abducted? As you say court will decide, which is why i think its odd it gets no coverage. UK libel/super injunction are a joke in UK if we cannot discuss the clear possibility that Madeleine died that night in the apartment without being sued. |
By:
The thing is Brendan, he doesn't frame his argument in the terms of what possibly happened. Instead he claims he is certain of what did happen...for me that destroys his credibility immediately and he deserves to be taken to the cleaners.
By:
His lawyers argue its the "most probable" & "all facts lead to" the conclusions drawn, using Amarals reasonable opinion. I dont know enough about law to know wether you can do this in a book in portugal, it seems you cant in uk without being sued or gagged.
I havent read the book, I saw the documentary and I thought it was as biased towards "died in apartment theory" as the uk media has been to the "abduction theory". For me there is no difference as the viewer will know that there is no 100% fact that either happened |
By:
is the libel trial on now? I haven't seen any report in the news.
By:
yes it's been on for a while - you won't hear about it though unless the McCanns win
By:
Verdict 1mill euros libel ,5th nov
By:
I think this has been a pivotal problem from the start. The parents wanted an investigation into the disappearance of the kid, whereas Amaral was determined to prove that the parents killed her and disposed of her body.
Bearing that in mind, surely you can see WHY they wouldn't respond to some of his questions. He was blind to any other possibility and would simply have cherry-picked any answers that suited his needs as evidence. These views are only an uneducated opinion. I have no idea whatsoever what actually happened. |

By:
I agree with you AyersRock that there is a feeling of anger so strong here regarding the neglect of these poor children that people are just hoping they are guilty.
By:
I think there is more "anger" at the fact that they have never admitted any neglect. In fact, they have done everything in their (and others) power to deflect away from that very subject.
Which of course leads to suspicion.. |
By:
I don't wish to defend them but in their own eyes they don't feel they neglected the kids.
By:
by the look of her she looks as if she knows she did something wrong,he looks like he doesnt have a care in the world
By:
Agree their attempts to avoid neglect charges have hindered the investigation. They will not entertain any other explanation other than an abductor entering the apartment simply because this is the story that most lets them off the hook.
By:
Disagree Ayers. I dont think anybody wanted to believe that the parents were capable of 'being involved' in the possible death of their child.
But there is no evidence of an abduction - only plenty of question marks against the McCanns. |
