these crimewatch e-fits are coming from the smiths right?
|
|
By:
Steamship:WHY did they show Madeline asking Kate about being left alone the previous night?
Because it is well documented evidence, and, for once, it was a reconstruction/documentary not controlled by the McCanns. |
|
By:
E-fits were produced in 2008 by private detectives according to wikipedia.

most people WANT to believe the McCanns - most of us have got kids and we can only imagine the nightmare of finding your kid missing
however, when I read about their refusal to cooperate with the police in the early stages, and the inconsistencies of their version of events, their behaviour before/during and after etc etc - I feel uneasy. |
|
By:
no entirely clear to me that these e-fits originated from The Smiths. Someone else..not sure?
|
|
By:
I got impression (not sure where) that they came from smiths. There were 9 of them walking down the street and i think that is why there are 2 different efits from different members of smiths seeing him at slightly different times & positions
could be wrong though. It definetly hasnt been expalin well where this came from and when. I mean 5 years old ![]() |

the program last night was sensationalism at its best. nothing will come of it.

Tragic case all round, sad also that so many other missing persons cases in this country dont get a 1/100th of the media attention.

Why not take 1 of the babies? Because the kidnapper prefers a more mature 3 year old for his sexual gratification. Sorry but thats just a stupid question. Nobody knows why she was abducted and by whom but you would have to presume if the she was abducted theres a good chance it was by someone intent on abusing her. Asking why not take one of the babies is like asking why was the Playstation taken from HMV instead of the Xbox. |
|
By:
Shrewd Dude if I had a load of Playstation games then I would nick a Playstation rather than an Xbox.
You are also presuming that she was taken for or by a paedophile rather than someone wanting a child to bring up as their own. |
|
By:
That's the point. What do you expect in answer to your question without knowing who the abducter was or why? They may have chosen her over the babies because they would prefer to fiddle with her, because they wanted a girl and she was more easily indentified as one in bed, because she was cuter, because she looked the most docile, because she was awake and would remember or because she was the one seen and surveyed in the days before.

they left the patio door unlocked to make checking easier......
and the mets investigations see this as believable or not very strange?? |

Portugal Newswatch
Reflections on current affairs in Portugal by journalist and author Len Port. McCanns’ €1 million libel action The unanswered question of what happened to Madeleine is at the root of the McCanns vs Amaral libel hearing now underway in Lisbon. With the hearing in recess for a few days, it is perhaps a good moment to reflect dispassionately on just how polarised public opinion is over the mystery of Madeleine’s disappearance more than six years ago. The question is not for the libel hearing to consider, of course, but this legal action once again highlights the fact that public opinion is broadly split into two camps. The McCanns have always insisted their daughter was abducted. During the original investigation, the lead detective Gonçalo Amaral became convinced she died in the holiday apartment, that her body was secretly disposed of, and that the McCanns lied about it. In the absence of proof beyond all reasonable doubt, both theories remain just that – theories. Broadly speaking, the mainstream media in the UK seem to have accepted abduction and are sympathetic to the McCanns. Internet forums dedicated to the subject are generally of the opposite view and are awash with criticisms of the McCanns. Defamation laws restrain the mainstream media. Not so the Internet. Central to the present libel action is the book The Truth of the Lie in which Amaral sets out his considered conclusions. The McCanns argue that not only does the book defame them personally, but by influencing public opinion it has also hindered efforts to find Madeleine. What is being contested is not only Amaral’s views, but his right to express them publicly. It is a freedom of expression issue. It was inevitable that the libel case would further rally supporters on either side. Many strongly believe the McCanns have been shamefully treated. Many others equally strongly believe Amaral has similarly suffered. “That man has caused so much upset and anger because of how he has treated my beautiful Madeleine and the search to find her,” Kate McCann has written. “I’ve been left with no chances, no way of paying my debts and liens on my property. I’ve had to move away from my family in order to protect them.” Amaral told a reporter who interviewed him about the pending libel action. The courts have been ponderous. The controversial book published in July 2008, and a video of the same title made from a documentary shown on Portuguese TV, were both banned by a civil court in Lisbon in September 2009. The ban was confirmed in January 2010. A higher court overturned the ban in October of 2010 and this was upheld in March 2011. The current civil case against Amaral, his publishers and the video makers had been much delayed. It was last postponed in January this year to give both parties time to reach an extrajudicial agreement. This did not happen. The case finally went ahead on Thursday and Friday with the McCanns demanding more than €1 million in damages. The main testimony so far has been that of a psychologist specialising in dealing with children who have suffered trauma. He told the hearing that Madeleine’s twin siblings could be in danger of developing mental problems if they were to discover the claims made in Amaral’s book. The seven-day hearing is being strung out over several weeks. It is scheduled to conclude on the 5th of November. The strength of public opinion is such that many have already made up their minds, but the court could go either way. Mrs McCann told reporters on arrival in Lisbon: “I’m here to stop the damage that has been caused and is still being caused, both directly and indirectly, to the search for our daughter.” The book has been out for five years. It is said to have sold 200,000 copies, been translated into nine languages and its contents are available on the Internet. Meanwhile, more than six years after she disappeared, there is still no hint of a definative answer to the question, what happened to Madeleine? |

The case finally went ahead on Thursday and Friday
Aand UK public opinion influenced on the following Monday. Wether you believe the McCanns or not the tming of this crimewatch programme is due to the court case, not any "new evidence" That must be clear to everyone, no ![]() |

HAS he left his wife and family for their protection? Or has he been kicked out because he's a nasty little chappie? Can you believe what he says?
The McCanns' claim that he has affected the investigation is undoubtedly true. Perhaps he failed to keep an open mind regarding what happened. There is no denying that, despite all of his assertions, the case remains unsolved. He might have been right in his assumptions...but he spent a lot of time and effort and didn't seem to gather enough evidence for a prosecution. I would guess that he feels quite bitter about that. His one moment to shine...and he was beaten by two amateurs! They certainly managed to come up with a good plan on what is supposed to be 'the spur of the moment'! My personal opinion is that he was wrong. This would also account for why the case is still ongoing. Thy sure are putting a lot of effort into keeping this case alive when two guilty people would, more likely, be relieved to let it fade away. |

INTERESTING ARTICLE:
Was It Gerry McCann? World woke today still reeling from 'Redwood's Revelation' Was it Gerry McCann who the Irish witness Martin Smith saw carrying a child of McCanns description, carrying a child of Madeleine's? Irish Witness Martin Smith believes so! The Portuguese Police never at any time believed the sighting by Jane Tanner the holiday companion of the McCanns. The Smith sighting they viewed quite differently. The Portuguese investigation was shelved in 2008. The McCann private detectives though for the past SIX YEARS have ignored the Smith sighting preferring to go with that of their companion Jane Tanner, despite the Portuguese insisting it was not credible McCanns would not have it any other way - the Smith sighting, where the man carrying the child was described by the witness as being Gerry McCann - was dismissed by them for quite obvious reasons. As Andy Redwood made his revelations - McCann is now once again under scrutiny! Was it him or one of his tapas companions, two of them who look very similar to McCann? It now begs the question - Was the child seen by the Smith family, not only by Martin Smith - Madeleine? Was she alive at this time or had she had an accident earlier in the evening and this was someone taking her away from the apartment? Andy Redwood by highlighting this sighting by the Smiths, which the Portuguese Police did before him, back six years ago...has allowed the net to be cast wide...but perhaps it doesn't require to stretch that far? McCann looked uncomfortable, to put it mildly on Crimewatch...and some may say understandably so now that they know he, McCann is who Mr Smith believes he saw carrying the child! It brings into question too the £hundreds of thousand of monies donated to their Fund which they McCanns say they paid to private detectives. Why was so many £hundreds of thousands of the money donated by the public squandered in this way - mis-directed? Supporters of the McCanns who robustly refused to believe that the Tanner sighting was false - accusing Dr Goncalo Amaral in particular of being a keystone cop for suggesting that Tanner sighting was not credible, must today be wondering if they have been taken for a ride - and a costly one at that -by the McCanns. It was the McCanns who produced - Madeleine Was Here and in this documentary plugged the Tanner sighting! The Portuguese Police played no part in this! And Kate McCann sold millions of copies of her book 'Madeleine' based on their story, which has now been proved to be false! Ironically, Kate McCann is suing the retired detective Dr Goncalo Amaral - for publishing the findings of the police investigation in his book Maddie a Verdade da Mentira wherein he states that the Tanner sighting was not credible. Seems Dr Goncalo Amaral, the Portuguese Police got it right! Kate McCann now needs to answer some tough questions as it is her book 'Madeleine' which now requires to come under close scrutiny! The public in general must now be wondering what exactly has been going on in this case - so many have made huge profits from Madeleine's disappearance. Her parents, their Fund, the many teams of lawyers in their employ and of course Clarence Mitchell! (Clarence of course will have had a hand in this latest nonsense) It is clear to all now that the McCann private detectives, the professional, Dave Edgar in particular, through IGNORING what the Portuguese Police said six years ago - Tanner sighting just not credible - and insisting on going with the McCanns and their companions version of events, hindered their own investigation, and perhaps have prevented the discovery of Madeleine, what happened to her and her whereabouts. It rather begs the question - Why would no one listen to what the Portuguese Police had already established, yet they are prepared to listen to the Metropolitan Police? Dave Edgar today, and the McCanns also must now ask themselves why did they leave such a big stone unturned? The Portuguese Police know why, and I am guessing the world now does too! Was Madeleine carried by her father? By one of the other members of his group? Was Madeleine alive at the time of this sighting by Martin Smith and his family? Has Redwood opened a can of worms that Gerry McCann would rather have been kept the lid tightly and firmly closed? Something which he, his wife, Clarence Mitchell, and Dave Edgar had managed quite successfully to do - until now! So many more questions now requiring answers and the public will ask - there is no doubt about that! The wider world too will now be asking 'WAS IT McCANN? Perhaps one of the blonde haired German guys being sought as witnesses will say in answer - JA! We could forgive the Portuguese Police if they were today having a 'WE TOLD YOU SO' moment! And rightly too. They told us 'so' six years ago! |

If they were of a lower social class then social services would have stepped in soon after after the disappearence of Maddie and the Tapas 9 would have been known as the `negligent 9`

I don't think they are expecting a name, address and telephone number, but cross-referencing that report with others might well lead to solving the case. Then again, it may not, but it is folly to pooh pooh calls like that because there was probably a lot more detail to that call than you are aware of.

I don't see why that couldn't be a possibility. |

police response
police said that the tip-off, coming two years after the alleged sighting, would be of little use to police. so a 6 year e-fit? |

another question.
did the mcanns see any of these people loitering about or see any charity collectors knock at their door? when did this come to light in the investigation? |

when Kirsty asked, when is it most difficult, they said family getogethers
for me it would be everyday |

Crimewatch is obviously very sucessful when featuring local crimes but it's a mystery why a large amount of time and money was spent on a 6 year old case in a foreign country.
Other than the McCanns' continual successful manipulation of the media. |
