What puts me off the death and cover up theory is the way that from the very beginning the McCanns have refused to accept any responsibility for leaving Maddie alone and sought at every turn to blame someone else for their misfortune and evade any charges of neglect. Their single-mindedness in this has been remarkable - right from when they lawyered up within hours their chief concern has been to save their own skins. Had they genuinely been covering up a death I think the issue of neglect would have been of minor concern to them.

This has continued steadily for the last 6 years. One of the most notable examples being when they, the arch-manipulators of the media, were, for some reason, allowed to gatecrash Leveson and portray themselves as victims of the press.

Not saying it is but it could easily be only one of them knew about the death and cover up which could easily explain the way they have reacted if that was the case.

Surely trying to cover their asses for 'simple neglect' and

'neglect resulting in death',

would come result in pretty

much the same behaviour, surely?

just came across this now, the little girl wasn't registered for 3 months after she was born, and celebrated her birthday at a different day, this is assumed coz of doubts og Gerry being the father, but dna tests of hair found in the apt proves hes the dad,   Confused

Today is four years since Madeleine McCann disappeared from a tourist resort where she was on holidays with her parents and friends in Praia da Luz, Lagos, Algarve. The judicial process continues archived without the mystery being solved, between the thesis of kidnapping, homicide and accidental death - and the police still does not have an answer by the McCann couple: Why was the English girl only registered three months after being born and why did they celebrated her birthday in a different date.

Maddie disappeared from the bedroom where she slept with her twin siblings, Sean and Amelie, on the night of 3 May 2007. The date of birth in her passport - the only identity document given by the family to the Judiciary Police - is May 12, 2003 and that is the day when the parents celebrate the birthday of their missing daughter. However, in accordance to a document of the Leicestershire police - area of residence of the McCann family in England - which was given to the PJ 15 days after her disappearance, Madeleine McCann was born on March 12, 2003 and was registered by her parents on June, 5 of that same year.

Given the difference of three months between the birth and the registration, the same report alerted to the possibility of the girl having another father. But DNA tests would confirm Gerry's paternity. Maddie's sample, the one used for the tests performed in an English laboratory, was a hair taken from her room in Leicestershire, assumed to being hers since it was proven that it didn't belong to her younger siblings.

The parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, never explained the differences in the birthday dates and the anniversary, and why they took three months to register the girl. Sources close to the investigation assured to CM that there were never answers to those questions.

The investigators ended up assuming that the delay in the registration was possibly related with formalities related to the artificial insemination.

Details

'Madeleine' book
It will be launched in Portugal, on the 23rd, the book 'Madeleine' written by the mother. The profits will go to the parents' fund.

Speech profile
The speech profile of Madeleine done at the time admitted the possibility of a learning disability. The mother denied.

in Correio da Manhã, 3 May 2011, paper edition - online in Portuguese here

Update: For reference, bellow is the alleged Madeleine McCann birth certificate which states that Madeleine was born on the 12 May 2003, in the Royal Infirmary of Leicestershire & registered on June 5 of that year. Note that the article above does not make mention of a birth certificate but of a Leicestershire Police report/document. (click on the image to read)

"I would be 60-80% sure that it was Gerard [sic] McCann that I met that night carrying a child."

How many times have you posted that yet no link to the actual quote in the whole thread?

Am I correct in saying that the Irish family didn't come forward until well into the investigation. How on earth can someone say they are 60-80% sure of something that is a brief memory at most. If this quote is true, then I would ask what was so unusual about the man carrying the child that it formed a permanent memory so that said memory could be recalled up more than a month later? I mean how many people did the family see that - how did this one stick out?

I actually can't believe so many are accusing the McCann's and it's so bad I've been drawn into the argument myself. I blame the sensationalism in the tabloids for a lot of this innuendo and speculation. Really nothing more than a conspiracy theory this. Someone broke into the apartment, took the child and that was it. Don't know why people can't accept this more than obvious explanation.

planned abduction must be a million to one shot
last night scotland yard give us efits, burglers, charity collectors, numerous men hanging about etc,
the tapas 9 at dinner were up and down,he there and everywhere for 90 mins and this was for the 5th night running but even after the alleged abduction the only sighting of anything odd from the tapas 9 was the tanner sighting
By:

The McCanns can't be all that happy at present. Jane Tanner's swarthy abductor, for years the cornerstone of their abduction theory, has been dismissed - to be replaced by a sighting of a man with a child identified as being Gerry McCann with 60-80% certainty.

Expect global sightings of little blonde girls to hit the red-tops in the next couple of weeks to swing momentum in the preferred direction.

Okay, well if some people accept that, fair enough. I can't.

1. What exactly is that piece and where did it come from? How do I know it's legit.

2. How on earth could he link an image in his brain from 3 months ago to one of a man getting off a plane. Classic case of a memory getting altered over time I would think.

3. If this is what the man believes, why aren't police investigating this.

Text: Reported that he passed a male carrying a child in Praia da Luz the night Maddie went missing. Went and made a statement to Portugal police in Portimao on 26th of May and returned to the U.K. Is saying that after seeing McCANNS on the news on 9th of September when they returned to the U.K. He has not slept and is worried sick. He states he was watching the 10 pm news on BBC and saw the McCANNS getting off the plane and coming down the steps. He states it was like watching an action replay of the night he saw the male carrying the child back in Portugal. He states the way Gerry was carrying his twin triggered something in his head. It was exactly the same way and look of the other male seen the night Maddy went missing. He also watched ITV news and SKY news and inferred it looked like the same person both times carrying the children. Is asking a member of the OP Task Force to ring him back. He was with a group of 9 family and friends the night he saw the male in Portugal. He sounded quite shaken and worried whilst speaking to me.

what about the 6 year old e=fits the Met have put out?
By:

To be honest, the e-fits being so different tell it's own story about their accuracy. By the way where did the e-fits come from? Was it the Irish family?
By:
brendanuk1
When: 15 Oct 13 22:16
thats obviously different as watching crimewatch 6 years later on bbc is completely kettle of fish to seeing something on bbc 3 moths after the event after already giving the same description of the man to the police 3 days after.

I'm sure that the police will be doing their best in attempting to solve this difficult case. I am also sure that they WILL have carried out checks on all of the supposedly obvious leads/sightings/statements.

Three weeks after the event (when Mr Smith gave his first statement) he would know exactly what Mr McCann looked like (unless he was a cave dweller).  Seems a bit odd that he only made the connection months later.  40-60% ?  I'd sell at 40

It wasn't investigated by the British police because, for whatever reason, they took the tapas crews word that Gerry was in the tapas bar at that time, the Portuguese police thought otherwise. The staff on duty and other customers didn't confirm this, that he was in the bar, in their statements stating they weren't sure when he was in the bar but I suppose the strength in numbers of the friends swayed things.
Who knows where this latest enquiry is heading perhaps the spotlight may yet fall on the McCanns again but, in Britain at least, the media aim to support them not ask any awkward questions that they may not be able to answer.

In the reconstruction WHY did they show Madeline asking Kate about being left alone the previous night? All this does is make the parents actions that night look worse.

Does anyone elst think the e-fits could be Gerry?
Had there been or has their since been any attempted abductions of children in the area?
Why not take 1 of the babies?

Somebody in that group knows more than they are saying.

I hope that I am wrong and that Madeline is alive and well with a loving family.
