Cheers guys.

Twizzles poor dog Laugh

7 weeks done now on 5/2 days with only water on the 2 days, 100 Kilos now. Started 113Kilo so that is 13 Kilos lost in total. 1 Kilo this week.

Was expecting bad result this week as I was in a hotel all week with all meals paid for etc by work but still going in the right direction so happy with that. 95 Kilos the target as I'm fairly well built but going to carry on with the fasting whatever happens. Mrs coxn 1st  week  also dropped 1 kilo.

Keep at it lads.

Day 87 and another 3lb loss bringing my weight down to 14 stone 13lb which is really pleasing as I think I've mentioned before I can't remember being under 15 stone.

I wont go into too much detail obviously but has anyone else suffered with constipation since starting the fasting.Mines not been too bad but was pretty nasty Saturday and I haven't been since.I'm currently taking something to help get things going again but if no better after the weekend it's a trip to the doctors.
The main change to my diet has been rice which I've stopped eating to see if things improve but apart from that it's been loads of fresh veg and fruit so it seems a bit strange.

I'm meeting with family this weekend who haven't seen me for a while so looking forward to their reaction upon seeing me. I've also decided to use it as a turning point in what I'm doing. I've been thinking about the fasting and although I'm 100% happy with it and what I'm achieving I think it's been a pretty strict regime as I've been going without food for roughly 36 hours three times a week.

I'm only going to make slight changes as I'm determined to see this weight loss through ( and I'm making this up as I go along ) so I'm leaving Sunday alone and doing the 36 hour fast but on Tuesdays and Thursdays I'm going to start having a breakfast which will bring those days down to 24 hour fasts.I reckon it comes to about 700 calories as it's far from the healthiest food being 2 slices of toastie bread with butter but I really enjoy it and life isn't about total sacrifice all the time.

To try and mitigate the effects of the extra food I'll be walking on those days as even a 40 min brisk walk should knock a couple of hundred calories off.

A very well done to everyone having a go and succeeding in their weight loss so far. It's great to read others experiences. Good Luck.

It is the 8th of November today so that means I have been following this way of eating for three months.  The most dramatic  weight loss was in the first 6 weeks when it fell off me.  Since then things have slowed slightly as you might expect, but still going in the right direction.  Today I weigh 12 stone 7lbs.  Down from 13st 9lb.  Mrs topnag has been doing better than me as she has been limiting herself to one alcoholic drink a day on the non-fast days and is now down to 8st 13lbs from 10st dead.  She has now reached what she regards as an optimum weight and plans to use the diet as a way of remaining around this weight for the future.

Today is a fast day and as usual it has been a case of waking up and thinking "Oh good".  I would like to lose another 7 pounds but am in no great rush to do so.  I am approaching this as a way of eating for life.  It is the general health benefits outlined in the Horizon programme that really interest me.  I am regarding the weight loss as a sort of visual signpost that I am doing the right thing. And what better signpost than having lost 5 inches from around my waist and punching a new hole into my belt.

Well done to the newcomers who are having such dramatic starts.  If you missed the original programme the whole thing is available on Youtube.  That was a surprise to me as I thought that Youtube was limited to 10 minute clips only.  It seems that twizzle will be organising the Christmas love-in this year.

Another fascinating read topnag and many thanks for keeping us all updated  on your progress..without doubt its posts such as bigmos and yourself that keep the chit chat 5/2 club inspired and thriving. As previously stated, yours and mrs topnags experiences are a mirror image of my own and the wife's( virtually the same weight loss in the same time scale).Looks as if i have bottomed out at around 12stone which is fine  and as long as i don't start "putting on" i am more than happy with my weight and lifestyle now.All round my house on Christmas day for a plain omelette and a glass of adams ale Happy

True with the water Capt_F, I go through loads of Sparkling water with twist of Lime. There is twist of Lemon/ Peach etc and is worth a look, change from standard water.

Tesco + Sainsbury both do 4 large bottles for I think £1.50, can't argue with that.

Ok..confession time.I am ASHAMED to report i went on the mother of all binges on Thurday evening. Here is an honest account of what i "put away" from 6.0pm- 2 am (up to 6 o clock i was fine)Started off with a magnum ice cream which led to cheese and crackers spread with kerrygold butter, about 4 i think, a slice of bread and jam with more butter, another magnum, two packets of  cheese and onion, bowl of co co pops, about 10 biscuits ( malted milk) finished it all off with a chocolate milk shake.

Woke up friday morning with guts ache( hardly surprising)..decided i needed punishing and went on an extra days fast yesterday..just weighed myself (i hadn't dare do it friday morning)and to my relief still just below the 12 stone mark.I hopefully will never do that crazy eating thing again ( its how i used to carry on in the bad old days)but its just a reminder of how one can easily relapse and proof that none of us are infallible from a total meltdown.

Twizzle, why are you beating yourself up about a bad day?  It doesn't matter what you eat on any particular day, even if it's as a whole  catalogue of junk like that.  What matters is that you do 600 cals max on any two days from seven.  Today so far I have had a cereal breakfast, a curry for lunch and four pints this afternoon with my mates.  Tonight we are having stuffed squid tubes with rice for dinner and the top is off a decent bottle of cabernet sauvignon to go with it. Cheese and biscuits to follow I hope. Down another pound this week.

It really doesn't matter what you consume on any particular day.  Just do the two days per week and think long term.  Forgive yourself.  Start again tomorrow.  Don't make a task out of this.

Well done Captain.  16lb down in two months is a good and sustainable loss.

Stuffed squid tube recipe.  This is a Greek recipe.

Ingredients:   This recipe serves four.  One large 200gram squid tube per person.  One teaspoon of salt.  4 tablespoons of olive oil.  One onion, chopped.  One clove of garlic, chopped.  40gram basmati rice.  One tablespoon of seedless raisins.  One tablespoon of toasted pine kernels.  A little chopped parsley.  One can of chopped tomatoes.  25 gram of sundried tomatoes chopped.  A quarter bottle of white wine.  Salt and pepper.  Crusty bread to serve.

Defrost the squid tubes (if frozen) and rinse clean and then rub inside and out with salt then set aside while you prepare the stuffing.  Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and add the onion and garlic.  Cook for 4-5 minutes until slightly browned.  Add the squid and fry for 2-3 minutes.  Add the rice, raisins, pine kernels, and parsley and seasoning.  Remove from the heat.  Allow the rice  mixture to cool slightly and then spoon it into the squid tubes (about three-quarters full) to allow the rice to expand.  Secure each stuffed squid tube with a cocktail stick.

Heat the rest of the oil in a frying pan and then fry the stuffed squid in it for a couple of minutes on each side until browned.  Add the tomatoes, the sundried tomatoes, the wine and the seasoning.  Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180C (350F or gas 4) for 45 minutes.  Serve with the crusty bread.  A bottle of Retsina gives the full Greek experience.

Happy dieting!

Well done Capt going really well. twizzle as topnag has mentioned don't beat yourself up over it. Were human it happens. You're not on your own either as I had a bad day myself Saturday with far too much beer followed by chips, crisps and ice cream.Yes I was really fed up when I got up today but I actually feel really good again now as I've accepted to brush myself down and get on with what I'm doing. If I end up with no weight loss on Thursday it'll be business as usual and hopefully on track for the following week.
You've achieved what many others constantly fail at.Business as usual please.Wink

Can i second the captains best wishes stevie...stick at it and it WILL work.As you have already read i ate myself into oblivion last week yet with a bit of self restraint on my two fasting days i'm back to my lowest weight since i started the 5/2.I certainly don't advocate what i did but just goes to show by digging in and showing a bit of fortitude you can quite easily get yourself back on track.Mrs twizzle lost another lb last week and is now 10st 3lb from a starting weight of 11st 7lb..she looks so much better and i think we might start another babyTongue OutBlush

Hi everyone. Thought it only fair to mention my going off the rails carried through on Monday as well and it's not rocket science to see it's the pub which is my problem.I did fast Sunday and Tuesday with just breakfast as I'd already posted I would. Thinking I may have to stop drinking for a while until I get on track. Thursday's weigh in will be interesting. Good luck with the baby making twizzle if you decide to and good luck as well steve.
It's great to read the honest posts it's helpng me with my wobble. GL everyone.

Day 94.

Well after my melt down on Friday,Saturday and Monday I resigned myself to a bitter disappointment on the scales and was really surprised to see I stayed the same.No loss for the first time since starting this but more importantly no gain either.Looking for a positive I suppose it's shown me that I shouldn't have too much problem with introducing the two breakfasts to get Tuesdays and Thursdays from 36 hour fasts to 24 hour ones.

I feel I'm back on track and have cancelled going to the pub on Friday to kick start myself into the next phase of weight loss.If I'm honest I doubt this will be the last time I have a wobble so the secret to success will be making sure it doesn't happen very often.

Good Luck to everyone on this.

No weight loss again so stuck on 14 stone 13 lb.I'm actually pretty cool with that but would love to get back to losing sooner rather than later.I only did the pub once last week but have relaxed slightly on the amount I'm eating although still no processed food. With a bit of tweaking to what I'm eating and getting more active I hope I can report a weight loss next week.

I have just had a week's holiday. Nine days counting the two weekends.  I have spent most of that time in pubs and restaurants it seems.  That was not the plan.  The plan was to meet up with some people that we only see occasionally to catch up.  The weather has been so awful that walking or any other outdoor pursuits were out of the question so the only alternative seemed to be the pub or a restaurant.  Not that I am complaining, but the week ended up being a case of eating and drinking punctuated by long periods of sitting down doing nothing at all.

I intended to keep to the two fast days and sort of managed it.  Last Monday was a 600 calorie day.  Thursday started well and I stuck to the food target but on Thursday evening we went out to the pub just to be sociable and I ended up absolutely sozzled on four pints of beer on top of a fairly empty stomach.  This morning I weighed myself at 12 stone 10lbs which is up 4 lbs from where I was last week.  Annoyingly Mrs topnag is exactly the same as before and is being rather smug about it.

I think I may have had a foretaste of what the Christmas period is likely to bring.  Tomorrow is a Monday and a fast day and I am looking forward to it.  It will be interesting to see how long it takes to get the weight back down to my pre-holiday point.

Another succinct and very enjoyable  read topnag and may i point out the excellent grammar and punctuation in yours and bigmos posts. Are you both teachers by any chance?.Anyhow, personally..i have been a bad bad bad bad boy again this week, been eating and drinking in a very piggish manner on non fasting days( mrs twizz has been shopping at m&s which is fatal for meCry).I haven't weighed myself since last weds morn (11.11) but i will be absolutely astonished if, like you topnag, i haven't shoved on at least 4lb come judgement day on wednesday. If , by chance, i weigh in below 12 stone then this method of eating will simply be classified by myself as proof conclusive that you CAN eat what you like on non fasting days and still retain your previous weeks losses.

Starting weight 15st 9lbs

Week 1 14st 12lbs

Week 2 14st 11 lbs

Just had a holiday in Thailand for 2 weeks. Managed to get a fast day in before I left and another since my return. During the holiday I didn't do any fast days but I only had two lunches and ate reasonably healthily. Also got to the hotel gym for 9 days of the 14, drank every night though but only 3 heavy sessions.

Week 5 14st 9lbs very happy with losing 2lbs considering the holiday and have now lost a stone.
