Day 172 and no weight loss this week. Funny how it works as I never did the pub on Monday and also had to have a total clear out for the hospital Tuesday but to no avail. Starting to doubt it will come off fast enough for those 34 in jeans in 6 weeks but I will get there.
Keep the faith everyone. Good Luck. |

Weekly Update
Starting weight - January 7th – 14st 12lb Initial (6 days) - January 12th - 14st 6lb Week 1 (On the day) January 16th – 14st 6lb Week 2 (Average for preceding 7 days, 17th-23rd) January 23rd – 14st 6.0lb (Max: 14st 7lb - Min: 14st 4lb) Week 3 (Average for preceding 7 days, 24th-30th) January 30th - 14st 4.5lb (Max: 14st 6lb - Min: 14st 2lb) Pretty happy as I am now into 3 weeks of normal living schedule - out a couple of nights a week etc. Visiting my home village/parents house some weekends which is lots of food and lots of drink! I was actually 14st 2lb this morning, an all-time low. I was 14st 6lbs nearly 14st 7lb on Sunday night when I came home, but I seemed to regain my initial gains quite quickly as this week has gone on. Fasting is certainly becoming easier, and like many I quite enjoy it I am exercising more which may account from some of the loss outside of the fasting approach. Gym twice a week and some walks The most significant thing for me is the very noticeable decrease in my appetite. I find that I just want to eat less portions, not trying to, just want to, as it makes me feel better. Increased water intake too, may be also helping As I said before, I just want a sustainable (no big hardship) way of losing weight, so not after huge gains. If I lost 3-4 lbs a month I would be happy. Its this time next year that the true success/failure will become apparent. Good luck to all. |

Starting weight 15st 9lbs
Week 1 14st 12lbs Week 2 14st 11 lbs Week 5 14st 9lbs Week 6 14st 5lbs Week 7 14st 3lbs Week 8 14st 2lbs Week 9 14st 2lbs Week 10 14st 5lbs Week 11 14st 2lbs Week 12 13st 12lbs Week 13 13st 13lbs Week 14 13st 13lbs No change Happy enough. Did the fast days with little problem. In the early days I would completely fast but now I get close to 600 calories. Not too concerned with this as I'm quite happy with my weight, just don't want to let it slip and pile the pounds back on. |

Well done Wallflower and the man.I'm pretty much where you are at the moment the man in that although I would like to lose more putting it back on is more of a concern. Weigh day tomorrow for me.

Hope it reads well bigmo, looking at your post of the 24th where you said its "funny how it works" - that's what I notice as well - I'm seeing an overall downward trend (which seems to be the norm for the early stages) but my attempts at predicting on a daily/weekly basis have been way off the mark - not as good, never as bad!!
However because of daily fluctuations I weigh everyday and go on the average of the preceding 7 days, so I see a more gradual progression, even if up 1lb one morning, my 7-day average could be down from preceding week, so no big deal. But I haven't seen a logical pattern, and have now stopped looking, it seems to be a lot more complex thing than pure "mathematics". Keep going - it's reading yours contributions and the others on here for a couple of months last year that got me interested - and I've really pleased so far, quite invigorating on a number of levels. So, genuine big thank you. |

dont always believe the scales.
they tell about a quarter of the story also measure other things and you can usually tell how you are progressing with your clothes. weight can fluctuate quite wildly particularly with fasting. |
|
By:
Agree d13phe, I use the scales as an indicator (though definitely a major one) - but I find for me that one of my old belts which I use frequently doesn't tell many lies
- there are some fluctuations on that I can tell you .I have a new belt in which I am looking forward to (well hoping anyway) having to put a new hole into some day soon. Hard to explain but sometimes you just instinctively know you are progressing (or otherwise) despite what the scales say. All that other stuff BMI etc etc is a bit beyond me at the moment - enough on my plate (pun intended, sorry ) |

Was on a session yesterday and paid the price with a 1lb weight gain this week.I'm going to try and motivate myself for an extra push for my holidays as I would still like to get into those 34 jeans.
Well done everyone. |

As a latecomer to this thread and being too busy to trawl through it, am I right in thinking that you can still have food on a "fasting" day as long as it is only a tiny proportion of your normal intake?

Hi guys great thread keep it up.
What i want to know is if any of you ever change the fasting days to suit your lifestyle? Say you usually do Monday and Thursday but have a big session planned on Thursday . Can you just switch to a Friday fast and do any of you do this kind of thing? |
|
By:
i switch regularly
any 2 from 7 for me |
|
By:
Not too bad bigmo, 1lb. Look at the bright side at least we seem to have found a method that works and so far is sustainable. I suspect I'll have periods during the year where I make little progress or go back due to lifestyle or ill-discpline etc. I think I'll then have couple of weeks periods of good effort - in fact may be beneficial - loosen-up the body again?!
Only started myself Hushwing, so only done Monday and Thursday - but will be changing around events and lifestyle like Capt_F, 2 from any 7 for me as well |

Good morning everyone, just had a quick look at the thread and am going to give it a go, have i got the gist of it correct, two days a week eat around 500cals the rest rest of the week eat normal with moderate exercise. Anyone that can give me any tips do's and dont's would be much appreciated.
|
|
By:
After reading the first half dozen pages of this thread i'm really motivated to give this a go, just one question what do people have in there tea and coffee, the sweetner's problem might be a sticking point as most people commented they are really bad for you, well done everyone keep it up.
|
|
By:
Just give up sugar. In two weeks time you will hate it with sugar.
|
|
By:
couldnt weigh in as scales out of order in boots
however got some new clothes this week gone from a tight 38 waist to a comfy 34 since sept feeling good at mo walking everyday |
|
By:
Well done Captain! - still interesting to hear as I am similar - tight 38, with ambitions for a "comfy 34". Going well for me too.
Houseofpain - welcome aboard - I "joined" on Jan 7th, some on here predicted it was the best thing I'd do this year. So far, it looks like they are right. Everybody's different and need to work out what works for them as long as they keep to or below the 600 cals on fast days (500 cals for females). -- I'd try Jack Hacksaw's advice - give up sugar in tea for a couple of weeks, its very hard to go back!! -- I have some milk in tea -- Based on advice here, I used myfitnesspal to record what I eat - more for educational purposes - its helped greatly -- Exercise, even just walking is a great benefit also -- The first fast days are tough, but after a few weeks is so easy....you actually kind of look forward to it - it's like taking a rest! Great mentally too, you feel much more in control -- Appetite has lessened greatly for me Best of luck if you decide to go ahead..... ![]() |

Well ate practically nothing first day today, small tin of tuna a banana couple bottles of water and two coffees. Last meal was 6.00pm last night is it best to wait until tomorrow before a meal, thx for all the advice..
|
|
By:
I don't think so, houseofpain........I think once 24 hrs have elapsed then the "fast" is complete, you can eat as you wish.
I do a little more......may eat up to 10pm -12 am.....then fast for the complete day (i.e. 600 cals) and tend to go to bed early and get-up early, so about 30 hrs, but includes two "sleeps". Don't think there is any additional benefit in what I do - just suits me. I know from reading this thread, and other sources many people go from 6pm - 6pm. Well done, I know it may be hard to believe but it does get easier quicker than you think. |

Weekly Update
Starting weight - January 7th – 14st 12lb Initial (6 days) - January 12th - 14st 6lb Week 1 (On the day) January 16th – 14st 6lb Week 2 (Average for preceding 7 days, 17th-23rd) January 23rd – 14st 6.0lb (Max: 14st 7lb - Min: 14st 4lb) Week 3 (Average for preceding 7 days, 24th-30th) January 30th - 14st 4.5lb (Max: 14st 6lb - Min: 14st 2lb) Week 4 (Average for preceding 7 days, 31st-6th) February 6th - 13st 13.4lb (Max: 14st 2lb - Min 13st 12lb) Obviously pleased to be below the 14st "barrier", and the general progress. However I was expecting good returns this week as I wasn't out at all - one drink (massive Bacardi and Coke ) at home all week, two fast days and lots of walking - wasn't disappointed, 5lb loss! Out tonight, and looks likely to have plenty of eating and drinking this Friday and Saturday. So if I can do that, and come back about the same next week or even a 1lb loss I'll be happy enough.Moved to the second last hole -up(at times) on my old belt ......eyeing that old extra one that I put in about 8 years, but that could take a month or so - no rush. Still maintain D-DAY is 7th January 2014!Finding the fast days quite easy. Good luck all. |

Starting weight 15st 9lbs
Week 1 14st 12lbs Week 2 14st 11 lbs Week 5 14st 9lbs Week 6 14st 5lbs Week 7 14st 3lbs Week 8 14st 2lbs Week 9 14st 2lbs Week 10 14st 5lbs Week 11 14st 2lbs Week 12 13st 12lbs Week 13 13st 13lbs Week 14 13st 13lbs Week 15 13st 10lbs lost 3lbs Can't really understand the loss as compared to last week I did very little different. Two fast days, fairly big Saturday night out, plenty of training and a couple of walks. Keeping up the fast days but not too bothered if I lose any more, might hit the gym to get a bit more toned but don't want to get too light for playing rugby. |

Quick summary how my first week went, cant stick to any diet ever but this was so easy. Just did the fast with zero exercise first week to see how it went but stuck to the guidelines, fasted 24 hours monday and thursday, had 5 pints and bottle of wine friday with my usual curry.
Day 1: 208.8lbs Day 7: 205.6lbs So it obviously works which has given me more motivation, so will be an hours swim on tuesday this week on top of week one, thx for all the info on this thread gl all. |

Watched that superam - very interesting indeed......found it entertaining too.
I've high cholesterol so maybe I was happy to hear all this, however I had researched quite a bit and knew there was quite a bit of "baloney" around it as well. More good news as far as I'm concerned ![]() |
