There is no correct answer, but imo no. He has written some classics but will they stand the test of time? how long is the test of time ?

Bernie Taupin
Lennon McCartney (counting this as one)

Let me give one small example Mikael

Willie Nelsons, You were always on my mind...this one song is greater that anything written by the Beatles in their entire career. And there are incredibly hundreds of American songsas good as, or maybe almost as good.
It is a kind of miracle how many beautuful songs US artists have written.

There is something deeper, more honest and true about the American songwriter. There are many very talented Britisg artists, some even great...but they seem to be playing a game and lack that truth.

I tend to agree that most of the pop/rock/folk/country/soul/rhythm and blues songwriters were American or Canadian ( Cohen,Young Mitchell )
The GB ones are surely Lennon/Macartney,Ray Davies and Richard Thompson.
