Smell the Coffee !!! Are you starting to yet? Perhaps you should back the horse next time it runs. Now do you appreciate how serious this may become? Look at that school in SE London, look at the spread there person-person. USA reporting 1/10 need hospital care, now do you see how serious it's even starting to get there and yet we are 2/3 weeks behind? How much proof do you need to make you sit up and take notice. I don't want you to say sorry to me for the way you have spoken to me BUT I do hope you are still on betfair come Christmas because you could well be eating humble pie you and the other twerps on here that laughed it off. |

Would you care to strike a wager on that basis? |

On Saturday I was almost in tears, desperate for the return of pig flu to these shores and to the front pages.
|
|
By:
250,000-300,000 killed by flu every year,Never gets a mention.

I blame Princess Di for that Canny.

cath, there's a guy I know, now I'm not saying it's perfect but it's worth giving it a try. His name is Tony, he has a propensity for telling millions of people they're about to die, but otherwise he's a darling. I could set you up, no money involved.
|
|
By:
don't get that alun.
|
|
By:
Horrible to think that so far it seems to be hitting the youngsters :-(
Mexico say hardly any cases in the over 50's...pattern there with regards to Spanish Flu |
|
By:
other than that millions of people aren't dying. For me, and well, mankind, that was the real bad about the influenza pandemic of 1918 :-)
|

Have to laugh at the the panic created by outbreaks like swine flu.
If it were all true then we'd all already have died of either Salmanella from eggs in the 80's or BSE from beef in the 90's. |

Dolphin School in Battersea SE London also closes.

Dolphin School in Battersea SE London also closes. Why are you shocked with a school closing? Any reason for even more time off. This scaremongering is out of control now. |
|
By:
It's reality. It's just the start of a long nasty road we are going to go down.
|
|
By:
Nice extended bank holiday for schools.
'cough cough - MISSSSS !!! Johnnys got swine flu Miss !' |
|

"Dolphin School shut down' !
Has it hit Dolphins now as well ? |
|
By:
So Cath are you sat worrying every winter when thousands are dying from normal flu?
|
|
By:
How many have died today?
|
|
By:
Wether people die or not this is a nasty sitautio,n one that could get even worse come the 2nd and maybe 3rd phase. Forget normal flu, this has the potential to grow out of control and be more deadly.
Read Spanish Flu 1918 |
|
By:
Nope. 30 million dead within the first few months in 1918, you really are the last person panicking about this now.
|
|
By:
although the 3rd phase DOES sound enticing!

Sparkmaster........
The deadly second wave What's notable about the 1918 pandemic was that the second wave was much deadlier than the first. During the first wave, which began in early March, the epidemic resembled typical flu epidemics. Those at the most risk were the sick and elderly, and younger, healthier people recovered easily. But in August, when the second wave began in France, the virus had mutated to a much more deadly form in the trenches of the first World War.[36] This was because, in civilian life, evolutionary pressures favor a mild strain. Those who get really sick stay home, but those with a mild strain continue with their lives, go to work and go shopping, affording the mild strain many more opportunities to spread. But in the trenches of the Great War, the evolutionary pressures were reversed. Soldiers with a mild strain weren't so sick that they needed to leave. Only those who were severely ill were sent sent back, on crowded trains, to crowded field hospitals, which afforded the deadlier virus the most opportunities to spread. So the second wave began in France and quickly spread around the world a second time.[37] It was the same flu, in that those who recovered from first-wave infections were immune, but it was far more deadly, and the most vulnerable people were those who resembled the soldiers in the trenches |

My daughter has had a narrow escape. I would have sent her to Alleyn's if I could have afforded the fees.

Me say sorry for the way I've spoken to you?
Yeah, right. Start reading this thread from the start, that's all you have to do. I know it may take a while, but you can do it in a quite time at: [on a] mission control. There will be plenty of quite time too. You panicked, you were wrong. The press and media have virtually deserted the non-story, and the WHO, have reduced their warning to 'Be vigilant'. More people have suffered from paper cuts than from your dreaded illness. Hardly anyone of the 6 billion people in the world, MANY of whom might have been in contact with this incredibly contagious virus, has been infected. You've been wrong. Wrong wrong wrongety wrong. And you will NEVER admit it. As I predicted You were suckered in by journalists who've moved on, and by a media with other, newer stories. You've been worrying about nothing. Like I said you were And, just to be on the safe side you want to wait til Christmas in the hope you're right. nutter. |

Leave her alone. She suffers from whine flu.Virulently contagious on chit-chat I believe.

Evening MissP, my brother went to Alleynes, a very good school. Bit worrying this is happening so close to the family home though.

You panicked, you were wrong. The press and media have virtually deserted the non-story, and the WHO, have reduced their warning to 'Be vigilant'. Wrong..after the two school cases today and more due this week they are looking at upgrading to level 6. |

Evening Slippy. :)
Don't worry, I have it on good authority that Swine Flu is a lot less painful than Double Maths. |
|
By:
Double maths I could handle, double chemistry was my Waterloo. The teacher hated me, he was an ex R.A.F. officer who despised me because I never shaved and was generally a bit unruly because the feeling was mutual. Hope all is well in S.W.2 with you. I think you are just about out of the danger zone where you are thankfully but too close to home for my Mum for comfort.

my sore throat has a developed into a mild fever with occasional sneezes :(

|
By:
lol what's level 6?
'Continued nobody dying, with a long term forecast of not much to worry about?' Given that you started on level 17, they've still some way to catch up. |
|
By:
people have died though

Studyform has been shown up again :^0

Yes Tony, they did, some time ago, and then it fizzled out. Imagine the staggering cost of sealing borders and how many more lives that would have cost and the human suffering it would have caused. Thankfully, very few people were that daft.

I feel a bit weird at the moment.
