Really, really, enjoyed all of those.
But if Ch5 can't even say on teletext what their televised coverage will be, on the same night, what chance has anyone else got ? |

AITL....sadly, nobody seems willing to lay me a price about it.....I have tried, believe me.
The way round it is to start with 500 and back him with it in his next fight regardless of the price then just reinvest the running total again and again every time he fights...a 15-20 fight acca if you like. He will not be beat from now until he becomes world champion in around 3 or 4 years in my opinion and 500 will grow to a much larger sum. It's what I'm doing. Remember the name everyone............KEVIN MITCHELL. |

I'll do a bit of delving over the weekend.
Failing that it's down to your plan. |

Another lift, for anyone else's favourites.

Just to say, I gave boxing a mention on the 'Other Sports' forum, regarding best sport/sportsmen.

So have I Tommy.

And your 'rant' also expresses my views too, AITL.

Kq, heard on Radio 5 yesterday, that there were photographs in a newspaper on Sunday of Naseem Hammed . He has put a pile of weight on. The sports commentator said, he was obviously in no fit state to be contending for another fight in the near future.

Hello TT and everyone. The other night , out of sheer boredom i played some of my old videos and came across a programme that BBC2 showed about this time last year.It was 1 episode of 6 i think ,and was about the corruption in boxing. It concerned Madison Square Garden and the corrupt gangster Frank Karbo.Great clips of Ray Robinson fighting in Europe ,fighting Lamotta ,interviews with Lamotta about throwing his fight [unconvincingly] against Tommy Fox,then onto Liston, and showing Ali in his prime.Absolutely fascinating prog but i missed the 1st 5mins so i don't know the title of the series.Does anyone recall this magnificent series and its title?

Sabre, I haven't seen the programme to which you refer, but do remember that Ch4 or 5 did start a 'greatest fights' show, about 18 months or so, ago - where Reg Gutteridge and I think it was Harry Carpenter (may be wrong about the latter), were sitting in a theatre and reminiscing about old fights, and showing them also.
I think they showed about 3 programmes, and then they just stopped them altogether, for no given reason. They keep messing about with boxing progammes all the time - as we know only too well. The ones I saw, were very good. |
|
By:
It was Reg and Harry, but I can't remember the name of the programme.
|

Going briefly back to Hamed, i watched his fight with Kevin Kelly at MSG a few days ago and it made me feel quite nostagic towards him. Love him or loathe him, it was never dull, and in that fight he was as brave as they come, getting off the canvas to flatten the hometown fighter and deflate the partizan crowd.

Found it now lads. It was called "The Fight" 6 episodes about the boxing game from J L Sullivan up to Tyson first broadcast Nov .2004.Can't find any links but watch out if its ever repeated cuz its a gem.

By:
Sabre, it was bound to be BBC so it's probably on video in Woolworths.

Excellent. |

Really enjoyed watching those again.
Why do they have to show terrific sport at such foolish times? |
