Akmal Shaikh was caught carrying 9lb of heroin into China from Tajikistan. He says he was tricked into carrying it by two men who promised to make him a pop star. (He's in his fifties.) Shoot him, I say.

They execute plenty and this bloke was caught drug smuggling 2 years ago, amazed he's still alive. Hopefully we'll start killing drug dealers soon too
By:
so should the guy over here have been executed for killing his wife cos of a sleep disorder?
i take it you're furiously protesting that he wasn't even jailed how's the campaign going bud? |
By:
Why was that bloke a drug smuggler? I thought he was found innocent.
I only want guilty people hung you see |
By:
oh right i didn't realise every court made the correct verdict
apologies how naive of me to think there are sometimes miscarriages of justice especially in china which is famed for its impeccable human rights record and rightly lauded the world over |
By:
why did the bloke with a sleeping disorder kill his wife?
tad extreme don't ya think? |
By:
Are you saying he's innocent or that he shouldn't be hung?
By:
innocent of what?
By:
Drug smuggling
By:
i'm not aware of anyone disputing that he smuggled drugs
so not quite sure how you expect a random bloke on the internet to come forward with new evidence to the contrary the same as i'm not aware of the guy killing his wife disputing it? |
By:
If you have a deterant/punishment policy then a few innocents will unfortunatly slip through system
The theory is that if it deters drug dealers (or whomever it is aimed at) then it a price to pay for the greater good. Medical conditions being used to excuse actions is opening many loopholes that are being expoited by defence lawyers. Its a tough one to get the balance right. I the case you mentioned, i'm confident the right verdict was reached but......there will always be doubt and those that get off due to good defence lawyers and loopholes. Although not an expert on Chinese law, loopholes like these dont exist |

Hopefully we'll start killing drug dealers soon too canaryboy 27 Dec 11:02 so should the guy over here have been executed for killing his wife cos of a sleep disorder? You seem confused over two issues, originally you ask if China woud execute a drug smuggling Brit, then contort it to a bloke who killed his wife in his sleep. I dont know much about that case. In the case of the mule, nobody is disputing he did it, it just seems you are anti capital punishment. Good for you, the Chinese wont lose much sleep |
By:
wasn't aware being a bit mad was a loophole
oh well let the mad people get punished even more then eh? isn't this what the nazis were in favour of? |
By:
the loophole is when non-mad people use it to get off
By:
yes the question and the case were 2 separate issues
and can be linked to the guy who killed his wife, as both appear to have had an illness |
By:
so should people not be assessed as to whether they're a bit mad?
i believe the chinese have done no such thing in this case |
