I have to say - I agree with positively4thsteet. I hope I get the gig - I need the money.

Vela - I believe that there are only 2 types of people.
People that make things happen + People that let things happen. Which type are you? |
By:
The thing is - Orioles is like a grumpy Ronaldinho - he's just not prepared to put in a good shift or make a fool of himself anymore.
By:
I don't think any of Vels arguments have cut any mustard with anyone. Maybe he should interpret his bible more.
By:
That's a good thing to say, Snooch - very wise, IMO.
Watchman Nee (the Chinese Christian) wrote a few pamphlets and books about this subject. I'm not going to answer the question directly...I mean, was Andy Ritchie of Morton a good player? What I will say is this : passivity is very, very dangerous - especially passivity of mind. |
By:
I'm not convinced yet. But he has a good knowledge and command of English, yet hasn't resorted to being patronising, well not too patronising, so he's alright in my book.
As far as I am concerned jesus quite simply did not feed 5000 people from some bread and fish. But there you go. |
By:
So you want to believe but the lack of evidence leads you not to believe. Sit on the fence until 5 mins before you die, sure you'll go to heaven as much as any devotee like Vel.
Smart thinking. |
By:
Yes - there you go. That sums it up nicely, IMO. It's very encouraging to receive these good reviews. Am I wrong to think I could maybe hit the Edinburgh Festival next year...?

" Sit on the fence until 5 mins before you die, sure you'll go to heaven as much as any devotee like Vel. "
Can't disagree with any of this. But why waste a whole 5 minutes? Can't you do it like a sniper bid on eBay...wait until the last 12 seconds? You'll be VERY clever if you know how much time you've actually got... |

were they really people called Paul, John, Luke, etc 2000 yrs ago ? The names are too modern + English
By:
Those sound like Greek names...don't know if they are, though...the name John possibly derives from Yochanan and Mary is a Greek version of Miriam (Hebrew).
"Jesus" is a Greek version of Joshua or Yeshua, I think... |
By:
Is the bible then the word of god or the word of man?
By:
David Icke has seen god, should I listen to him?
By:
Vela - How can John possibly be derived from Yochananela.
Now that is definately a case of making things happen ratherr than letting things happen. |
By:
david icke talks more sense.
By:
Icke - NO...failed footballer. You might as well listen to David Frost or Wayne Biggins.
Word of God? Yes sir, I would say so. But I'm just a simple Scotsman from the land of heather and whisky. What would I know, sir? I ask you. It's not as if I manage Man. Utd. or trained this year's Derby winner. |
By:
Man U?
Make that Everton! |
By:
Yochanan just turned into Yochananela. How did that happen when i copied + pasted.
Vale - Did you make that happen? |
By:
The bible is the word of god written by man? David Icke speaks to god but you ridicule him over a 2000 year old man?
By:
JOHN - (name) - "English form of Iohannes, the Latin form of the Greek name Ιωαννης (Ioannes), itself derived from the Hebrew name יוֹחָנָן (Yochanan) meaning "YAHWEH is gracious". This name owes its popularity to two New Testament characters...
This name was initially more common among Eastern Christians in the Byzantine Empire, but it flourished in Western Europe after the First Crusade. In England it became extremely popular: during the later Middle Ages it was given to approximately a fifth of all English boys." SNOOCH - got this from behindthename website. |

This is a top thread.
Surely if you kind of believe in treating people fairly and just doing good things and being genuinely sorry when you do things wrong then that should be good enough to avoid hell. I went to church every week till i was 16yo, Just thought the bible was a nonsense tbh. There must be better ways of trying to make good upstanding citizens than forcing silly stories down their throat. |
By:
Vela - how many miles are you from Porkheid? I am about 28
By:
Ovalman - I'd trust the Jesus Christ of the Gospels any day of the week.
I wouldn't trust David Icke with the change in my pocket...or Marx or Freud or Jung or Mao for that matter...I wouldn't trust them with the snotty hanky in ma jaiket doon stairs... |
By:
About 8, Snooch - less "as the crow flies."
By:
I kinda think of things this way ..
Supposing you that don't believe in Heaven + Hell and the Afterlife are right ...WE both die ..You + I and go into blackness , into nothing ness per your viewpoint.. Now lets suppose I am right ...Then you have one HELLuva eternity ahead of you !! :0 :0 |
By:
So who goes to hell Pos?
Why swot for all your life when you can redeem at the last minute and get forgiveness. Does the pope sit at the top table when he dies or is everyone equal? Seems a bit unfair to me. |
By:
just do good stuff and you don't have to worry about hell.
By:
But the bible was written by people from 2,000 years ago whom you have NO information of only their writings. David Icke is a far sounder bet than that.
By:
The Pope won't be heading for Heaven oval ..
not unless he renounces all the things he is standing for ...imo ...+ The Bibles .. |
By:
+ in The Bibles opinion ^^ that is

Why would you want to avoid a non-existent hell? This is the heart of the Gospel, actually. The idea is that no-one actually deserves salvation - it's a free gift from God - you can't earn it. If you believe in the sacrifice of Jesus (God himself) then God judges you as if you are Jesus. Good deeds count for nothing in God's economy - "All your good deeds are like filthy rags," etc. |
By:
If you believe in the sacrifice of Jesus (God himself) then God judges you as if you are Jesus.
Now i am confused. Thought Jesus was the Son of God ? |
By:
People get to know god through the bible yet the bible was written by man. Man has sin yet god entrusts his word to be remembered by flawed men.
I keep strengthening my case. |
By:
Ye though I walk thru the Valley of Death ...I am not afraid ..
Because I'm the meanest Son of a ***** in the Valley !!.. ;-) |

By:
Mary gave birth as a virgin, how can we believe that?
Me thinks it was a cover up as she had been playing away from Joseph |
By:
Son of God AND God.
The Bible says God is PLURAl, yet only ONE...The Father, Son and Holy Spirit - "And these three are One..." See Andrei Rublev's famous painting... http://www.abcgallery.com/I/icons/rublev1.html |
By:
So a painting can clear things up? Mans interpretation again.
By:
Well, if that's what you think, you're perfectly entitled to think that, SNOOCH...it's your choice...and God upholds your free will...
