Lets be fair
The more has won four times at cheltenham which is as many as santini \ champ won added together She has let us down once at Cheltenham, on ground she didnt like, and the jockey came out afterwards and said he thought they would come back to him but it never happened. She had plenty left after the race apparently.The lads in the syndicate have had plenty out of her and they are adamant about the Wednesday ! |

That suggests that the jockey made a conscious decision to have her where she was which couldn't be further from the truth because she could not go a yard quicker for the majority of the race and lost ground at practically every fence....perhaps it was the ground and she certainly deserves a second chance, but as it was she couldn't go the pace, nothing misjudged about it. |

The jockey stated publically " Aidan Coleman was of a similar view regarding the ground for Put The Kettle On.
The rider said: “They just had too much speed for her. “Usually on that ground they don’t come back and I finished with loads of mare. I wasn’t tired at the line, but in that ground they’ve gone quick and they just don’t stop. I was waiting for a collapse in the pace, but on good ground it’s not going to happen. “She hit the line strong and there’s a lot of positives – it was just too dry for her I think.” |

You stated that the jockey said, and the jockey came out afterwards and said he thought they would come back to him but it never happened because you then report, which I think is more accurate and is clearly at odds to the first claim because it clearly suggests that the jockey actually thought that they would not come back: “Usually on that ground they don’t come back and I finished with loads of mare. I'm not questioning Coleman, he knew the score all along, I was just suggesting that you may have tried to soften the edges a bit when reporting aspects of the race by half suggesting that the jockey was implying he could have done something different which he categorically was not doing. He misjudged noting, he was hoping for a pace collapse but as he states he wasn't thinking it was going to happen and he could do nothing about it one way or another. The bottom line was that the horse could not go a yard quicker and nothing could be done about it and on that ground she was exposed. |

Colenan did nothing wrong and he knew precisely the state of the ground, he hoped they'd come back but thought they wouldn't so he made no misjudgment as what he thought happened did happen .
What he probably was surprised at is the degree of just how badly outpaced the mare was, regardless of the ground, after all, this is her track and she wasn't even facing what will turn out to be the main players in the race. |

Yeah, thanks, I'll keep it in mind, back to what we were discussing before,you've been caught out really attempting to put up an excuse for the defeat other than what the actual race told us.
You tried to imply that a misjudgement from the jockey may have contributed to the defeat, this was an attempt to soften the blow of the defeat, which was a heavy one, but you're a fan of the horse so I understand your reasons. Coleman had it right, he knew they weren't coming back as stated above, he made no misjudgment whatsover as you claim, he got it spot on. |

All those punters have now done all their money at Sandown and Cheltenham. I’d jock up Mr David Maxwell next time. |

We're arguing over semantics, to a point, but only to a point. You haven't made a misjudgment if there is nothing else you could have done to change things. "Hoping" instead of "waiting" would be a more accurate description of what he was doing as he goes on to admit that it isn't going to happen. But by using the word waiting it gives someone the chance to spin it by suggesting that if he was waiting, he then, by definition had a choice to "not wait", which he did not have the option of, because she was flat out, which of course the jockey was fully aware of. |

Champion Chase heroine Put The Kettle On is not certain to attempt a follow-up in the two-mile highlight next March with trainer Henry de Bromhead eyeing a step up in trip. Having stayed on into a never-threatening third on her recent return in the Shloer Chase, beaten ten and a half lengths by Nube Negra, the tenacious mare is being aimed at the Grade 3 John & Chich Fowler Memorial Mares Chase over 2m5f at Fairyhouse on January 1. De Bromhead said: "She stayed on well at Cheltenham and I thought it was a similar run to last year [when she won the Shloer Chase]. It was just that the ground was a lot softer in 2020 and that gave her a chance to come back at them. "She seems good since. Having discussed it with everyone, I'd say we'll step her up in trip and try her in the mares' chase at Fairyhouse on New Year's Day." He added: "We'll see how it all unfolds but it's not certain [that she'll try to defend her Champion Chase crown]. She'll probably have a few entries. Obviously there's the Mares' Chase and the Ryanair Chase. "I'd say she'll be entered for all of those and we'll see nearer the time. She seems like a different lady in the spring as well and we'll look at what the ground is then too." |

obviously not . He never said she was flat out , did he ? If the horse was flat out which he never even said ? ......how come she "hit the line strong" ? The horse couldn't go on that ground . He was expecting it softer. It wasnt . Henry had to get a run into her , she was in a field three weeks ago. The syndicate wants rain mid-march. |

If anyone knows claisse you will know he was a media man. The stick is put in certain points which can be regulated within about twenty metres by the BHA (allegedly). The trees on the far side can get them better going readings when its soft to heavy. They tend to come closer to the drains on the inside if they want soft in the description. There was ice on the cross country a few years back and claisse made it "good to soft"
You have got small fields over there because of the ground. Check out the previous meeting let alone this one. The incumbent groundsmen know the score and it down to the bha. Claisse knew the place needed digging up and relaying because of the "new" drains and the reverse cambers but the bha are highly aware of the needs of the english flagship and what it means to the industry. |

Shishkin has been ruled out of next week’s Betfair Tingle Creek by trainer Nicky Henderson.
The unbeaten chaser was due to make his seasonal reappearance in the Sandown Grade One, but Henderson does not feel he is quite yet at concert pitch. As a result he will now head for the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton over Christmas instead. “I’ve just spoken to (owner) Joe Donnelly and we’ve sadly and reluctantly decided that Shishkin is not going to run in the Tingle Creek,” said Henderson. “There’s nothing wrong with him, but I just haven’t got there. He worked this morning and he just isn’t sparky at the moment. I think I just got behind the ball a little bit. “We did his wind in the autumn which wasn’t a problem, but it just put us behind the ball and Nico (de Boinville, jockey) and I both feel he’s not quite on his A game. “It really is a thin line. We’ve scoped him and everything and there’s nothing wrong, but you can’t afford to go into this (at) anything bar 100 per cent.” Henderson told PA: “Joe is a fantastic man and he said to do whatever is best for the horse and that is definitely what we’re doing. “Sadly he won’t be there and this race is sorted of ill-fated for us at the moment. “We’ll go to Kempton now, I imagine. He looks magnificent, he’s just missing maybe five per cent that you need to have and can’t go without. “We all know that the best thing for this horse is to give him a chance, so sadly he won’t be there but he’ll be around for Christmas.” |

De Bromhead has declared himself pleased with the reappearance run of Put The Kettle On in the Shloer Chase, with the quick ground not to his star mare's liking
"She's a lady you don't like to tell to do too much but she'll click into mode again and we look forward to another big year from her. "We are happy with the run the other day. You always want to win but there was two very good horses ahead and the ground slowed them down last year." |

odds range from 10s - 33s. Place prize money's a lot more than the Mares race Place money or it was last year. Don't know who the last Champion was to not defend the crown,barring injury. |

Pen, I’m not sure many Champion Chase entries have a prep over 2miles 5 furlongs over Xmas either. Unless it’s a “Native River” bog on the day she is rerouting to the Ryanair or more likely Mares Chase. She would be a massive player in that race if she proves she stays the extra 1/2 mile. Run in the race you are 3/1 favourite not 25/1 outsider surely ??

Having posted last years winner up months before I feel obliged to say that Put the Kettle on is stonking value at 10\1 on here or with multiple outlets. She wont be 10\1 on the day you can lay her off before the day and get yourself a freebet. Its a disrespectful price based upon the entry of Shiskin into the race. When do we lay her off for the free bet ?? |
