Nonsense?
He’s not mixing prep hurdles and Chases according to Irish’s contact. He having a prep Hurdle and then Gold Cup. If he wins a prep Hurdle (let’s say early Feb) and wins easily he’s still at least 12lbs wrong at least with the principles. You will also have the winners of this seasons Betfair Chase, King George, Hennessy, Cotswold, Denman who could be rated higher than him. I don’t think many people will make him a single figure betting proposition if that was the case with no chase run in 12 months. He’s not a returning Gold Cup winner who has been there and done it and just needs to get to the race fresh. This is a second season chaser who is favourite for the Gold Cup needs to improve a stone (which he can) and needs to have a correct preparation. That’s my thoughts anyway. |

I agree with Irish that he's beat decent Irish horses
Yes Quevega.....decent horses. But Irish said.....great horses, and they aint. I hope he is having more than one hurdle race before the Gold Cup!!! Like the odd decent chase or two. |
By:
He will be running in chases over the winter with possibly a hurdle race in between. You are right none of them novices are great until proven
|
By:
i am a huge fan of percy but do concede his price for the gold cup is to short thats not to say he wont win the race.
|
By:
I'm the same Foxy tbh the price is a disgrace.
|
By:
i thought the horse he beat in the sun alliance monalee at around 14s for the ryanair was much more worth taking an anti post chance on quevega.

PP is a Cheltenham Festival staple, and will only drift from 6/1 if he has a stinker or two this season, while others progress upwards.
Even if that happened pre-xmas, if the bookies get a sniff of him showing a return to form in. AJan/Feb prep race he will be back down at 6/1 or lower, given the jockeys ability, and the trainers ability to prepare one to win a big pot/punt. |
By:
One thing about Presenting Percy, this idea that he absolutely needs good ground is a load of nonsense. Seems to be based purely on the fact he improved to win the Pertemps, a race he was laid out for all year. He has an excellent record on heavy, and his 3 worst performances have all been on good ground.
|
By:
If you do a horse in the rsa and it pi55es in and before the jockey gets back to the winners enclosure he watches the replay on the big screen, says jees ten lengths , good job it werent good we would have won a furlong..... Think you can forgive him for any misjudgement in his moment of victory customcut!
|
By:
Foxy you could well be right tbf with Monalee,he should have ran in the JLT last yr
|
By:
Sory lads but any horse that wins at cheltenham is great for me , so if the
Iikes of lets dance, mall dini, bless the wings dont rate as great horses i understand. But p p has also done battle with jury duty, penhill and our duke , horses which i also value as great , so i think he is in the premier league, not only that he is playing at home , two out of two aint a bad record at cheltenham . |
By:
JURY DUTY ..wins u s grand national ......great horse !
|
By:
Ha Ha, I think we have differing ideas on what great means.
|
By:
well done to jury duty he deserves to win a good prize.

Lol buddeliea ..... Lets start with Britain

PP to me looks like a player this year but looking and proving are two different things and his price is terrible for what he has achieved.
His RSA win was visually very impressive. However, not sure what he beat. Monalee pulled too hard and the UK challenge wasn't top class. That said he hammered them and we know he is a Cheltenham horse. The rest of his chase form though is not at the required level. The only time he has faced a proper Grade 1 chaser, he was beat in receipt of 7lb by Our Duke. Some will say it was a prep over an inadequate trip, but the same could be said about Our Duke and the fact that they were 16L clear of the 3rd suggests they were pretty wound up and PP was backed into Evens Fav. So, in my opinion he could certainly be crowned Champion in March but the price 6/1 is too short for me until he proves it on the track. |
By:
Does anyone know where/when Percy is going to start this season?
|
By:
3 mile hurdle
Late jan early feb Gowran |
By:
Looks like the Kim Muir could be the target next year if irishone is right.
|
By:
|
By:
Irish are you being deadly serious?
|
By:
Why not ?
|
By:
So you seem to think he'll not run until end of Jan/start of Feb? Visor I think you are right only he'll run in the Ultima
|
By:
I think Irishone has had his fishing rod out.
|
By:
PP is running in the John Durkan Irish. How did the boys in the know not know that ?
|
By:
He has the fishing rod out for that also Hibore, hasn't a clue when he's out...
|
By:
Wait and see hibore
|
By:
You can lay 40 off at 5.9 today on here ,7\2 in places . Havent seen anyone from stable for over a month now, pp summered well looked after himself, MD was big.
|
By:
Davy on rte .....
What about pp ? ......thought he was going for john durcan but patrick kelly is the trainer not me |
By:
Davy - “Looks like the John Durkin but wouldn’t be 100% sure” next up for PP, but Pat Kelly will decide and “do the right thing”
|
By:
I've been backing it for der Mammy steadily since last festival. Jaysis, I'd rather see him miss the John Durkan, go for a moderate hurdle somewhere just as a tune up and then unleash him at the English in March. Mammy told to back the Irish horses in the GC, so all of em will be gettin tickled. Want to see the tricolore of ours March 15th and singing the Boys of Wexford.....
|
By:
Pp not fit
|
By:
I think Presenting Percy (5/1) is unbelievably short for the Gold Cup for what's done. He beat Monalee in the RSA, but I think Monalee is more of a 20f horse; beaten by Our Duke (RIP) a horse rated 169 receiving 7lbs.
I believe he needs to improve at least 7lb to battle it out with Native River (soft/heavy) or Might Bite (good) at the finish next March at Cheltenham. Perhaps Bristol De Mai (BDM) too if BDM wins the King George Chase to dispel any predilection BDM is a Haydock specialist. |

Now in at leopardstown end of month

By:
I'm pretty sure there won't be a nob show, he's a gelding
|
By:
So when are we likely to see Percy? Lexus? |
By:
At best priced 5/1 bookmakers must be intent on taking zero bets.
I really like the horse but it is hard to argue that he has been much value from the moment he crossed the line in the RSA. He is a relatively short priced favourite almost by default and I don't think missing engagements is a great sign, particularly as I have never viewed him as a soft ground horse. |
By:
there are less than 700 people living in the village of craughwell county galway
the home of the Galway blazers and p g kelly Over 300 are already booked to get to Cheltenham on March 14th I guess you are definitely likely to see him on the 15th March buddlelia Dont be surprised by anything patrick does |
