Starting to take shape now... Barters Hill off to Donny and Yanworth v Shantou Village at the weekend.

Time to top up on Yanworth imo.... And take the 7-4 for the weekend!

As posted earlier on this thread I only backed Yanworth for Neptune and not Supreme.  I was surprised to hear King talking of the 2 miler, but looks like he has seen sense.   Fingers crossed for a good run tomorrow.

The slightly sketchy jumping early on will probably be improved if they go a tad quicker on better ground in March too.

One can safely discount Yanworth running in the Supreme after today demolishing display; he's definitely Neptune bound - what a race in prospect, Yanworth vs Bellshill, the former is proven whereas the latter has been running in his own backyard.

Well done to those with vouchers for the Neptune!

I think Bellshill might go to the AB now to be honest - Yanworth v Yorkhill in Neptune?

Shantou Village would be an interesting runner in spud race if Yanworth is the real deal.

"I think Bellshill might go to the AB now to be honest - Yanworth v Yorkhill in the Neptune."

Possibly, if so, a bit risky as Barters Hill (AB) is an out and out stayer I firmly believe; however, Min, on the other hand is not considered a very good 'thing' by connections, and Yorkhill could be used as a back-up to the Hendo runners should they prove problematic; Yorkhill was impressive against 007 (Hendo) and definitely stays further than 16f, just my take though.

Where did you get the idea that Min isn't considered a good thing? Did you see what he did to Gurteen, impossible? Good thing of the week!

Would not be a good thing if Yanworth ran.
Any Min backers should hope Yanworth goes Neptune, which I imagine he will.
Most impressive novice performance this season, and by some way Imo.

Min is 13/8 and still with a bit to prove. He did not settle the last day. Douvan went off 2/1 and Vautour went off 7/2 so Min is already considerably shorter than both of those with 6 weeks to go to the Festival and more doubts in my opinion than either of those two. He's priced up on the connections record in the race and in my opinion you'd want to be mad to back him at the current odds.

Can't see Yanworth dropping back to 2 miles after that display, budd - he was impressive today. Reminded me of Simonsig - good over 2 but even better given time to organise himself over the longer distance.

Did anyone else notice Yanworth tried to run out at the top of the hill ?
By:

When: 30 Jan 16 17:40
Yes he did jink Swardean. I don't think he jumped the first few hurdles as well as later in the race either. Alan King was well taught by the Duke in terms of trying to be level headed in comments about his horses. When he says that Yanworth is a s good as he has trained, we should take note.

When: 30 Jan 16 17:50
Really don't see why the supreme wouldn't be on the agenda after that. Maybe they would rather go to a race where there's no horse like min, which would obviously give them a chance ? either way he looked like a future CH horse out there.
By:

When: 30 Jan 16 17:53
In all the furore of the performance, the prospect of still running in the Supreme was perhaps initially overlooked, the performance was so impressive that why he obviously enhanced his Neptune prospects, connections must think that his class must still entitle him to Supreme consideration, sure he's got the speed for it.
By:

When: 30 Jan 16 18:06
Its difficult to say whether Yanworth should go Supreme because he just proved he stays and I doubt they'll want to take on Altior over 2 miles. But I also wouldn't throw my Bellshill tickets, I think he's Mullins best hope in all the novices division and will be very hard to beat. So take on Altior or Bellshill, I don't know.
By:

When: 30 Jan 16 18:08
The fact they they tried the 20f today and he seemed to improve would make it a very big surprise if he reverts back to 2 miles.   If supreme was the preference what was the point of running it today, if it was going back to two miles irrespective of how it ran?

Plus, I think they have now sort of backed themselves into a corner, if it did go back to 2 miles and get beat, everyone would be saying they made a stupid decision.

Finally, we all know the Neptune produces the best Champion Hurdle horses, ask Istabraq, Hardy Eustace and Faugheen.

JP could still have a fancied runner for the Supreme in the shape of 4yo Ivanovich Gorbatov. I remember what they did with Binocular. Angry

Ruby Walsh always says you need a stayer for the supreme. Remember champagne fever. Even the machine started running over 3 miles and now he looks like he could win his second CH

A real longshot MS but would only be on the cards if he hacks up next week. Nice 8lb allowance in the Supreme. No firms offering any prices for him though.

JP has backed the horse for the Neptune. That's all you need to know!

I believe AK didn't want to run today and he thought he was a Supreme horse, but JP and BG got their way. He must be delighted now though and fair play to BG who has been adamant the horse wants a trip. Imperious performance. I agree with budd. Stand out novice performance of the season so far.

My only worry is that he looks so at home at soft, that will he handle good ground at a Festival? I suppose the best ones normally can, so fingers crossed.

ccm - i dont think the ground will matter one bit - i think this is the real deal - you could run him on quicksand and i think he'd still quicken. Wont happen but what a build up to race one if connections pointed towards supreme - maybe bookmakers are calling jp as we speak and making it worth his while WinkWink

Oh I think he's pretty certain to run in the Neptune now,it all points that way with his jockey encouraging the step up and then putting in a performance like that.
To be honest I think he would win either race.

What a stunning horse. Absolute stand out novice performance and blown away by that. He's lightning quick.
