Harry,
Ive backed Jetson and will add L colonel at some time as well. At this stage I favour the Irish, just not been that impressed thus far with the Brits. Monksland is another that interests me, I like that Irish race they ran in the other day. Cant have any from last year, and don't think Cole Harden is good enough, although may be wrong of course. Beat that and MOT have it to prove this season and no appeal at all at the prices for me. Still have more work to do,and nothing set in stone completely, but that's my take at this stage. |

been going back through UTPT well chief...
he isn't fluent at his hurdles is he? i wonder whether a step up in trip will help him and his jumping...really looking forward to seeing how he gets on...it still sticks in the back of my mind, how keen pipe was to go for a handicaps at last years festival but still looking forward to seeing if he has progressed and how he gets on |
By:
Yeah Harry, I don't think he's the slickest jumper, but he looks like he has a huge engine.
I remember the handicap issue last year - just dug out the tweet below that I sent David Pipe, but he never got back to me. Feb 26 @DavidPipeRacing Un Temps Pour Tout is a lot better than his 148 mark in the Coral Cup. Are you leaning towards that or the Neptune? Cheers |
By:
Harry - I think Cole Harden was supposed to be running in the Cleeve and assume he's still on for that, but can't find a recent update anywhere...
By:
ye thought that tom but can't find a quote...we will see, a good couple of weeks ahead and a lot of questions will be answered in regards a lot of horses
By:
UTPT certainly has talent, but feel he's being kept to hurdles because he came in late and needs a shade more time to fill his frame. That'd put me off tbh, doesn't respect his hurdles either.

By:
@ tweeting pipe to ask about a handicap race. He would delay telling you the time. An absolute take out merchant. |

The West Yorkshire Hurdle winner could still run in the Squared Financial Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown, but Greatrex reports his charge to have picked up a splinter in his knee when hitting the final flight in the Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury.
While the problem is not serious, the trainer is considering sending him to have the splinter removed which could put his run in some doubt. "Ireland is still a possibility but after Newbury he had a bit of warmth in his knee from when he smashed into the last hurdle," said Greatrex. "He's got a bit of birch in it, just like a splinter, and I think we'll send him to the vets to have it removed. "I could leave it but it may turn into something more than it currently is so it's probably best to have it removed. He's not in pain - it's like humans having a splinter. "We might just run out of time with Ireland. He'd miss no work, but it could be tight, so if he does (miss Ireland) he might drop back in trip to two and a half miles and go to Cheltenham on New Year's Day. If he doesn't run then he'll go there on Trials Day (for the Cleeve Hurdle). "He's not missed a day, but I think I'd just like to get it sorted. It would only be the day he'd go to the vets that he'd miss any exercise." |
By:
Thanks for that Brandy, but I'm not sure which way to take that - he did make Cheltenham as it turned out, so not sure if that means they'll also run in the Cleeve.
Not sure what I'd prefer as a backer, to be honest. He'll need another run before the big day but I might prefer him to have an easier run seeing as he's already had three this season and the Cleeve looks like it might well be a good race on testing ground. That said, he looks a big, strong horse, and he seems to take his races well. |

good money for UTPT today - tipped up by ben linfoot
By:
I saw that - was contemplating a saver on him but have missed the price now!
By:
Be happier for Cole to miss the Cleeve Hurdle, 5th start of the season for the Festival isn't a positive for the World Hurdle (10/10 had 1 to 4 starts that season)
By:
Always thought the races at Wetherby that day when Cole Harden beat AFC and Silvinicaco Conti finished last should be taken with a pinch of salt form wise. Ground was very quick by National Hunt standards.

Saphir Du Rheu now heading to Cleeve hurdle!!! Looks like a Big Bucks Deja Vu.
By:
Ladbrokes are 40/1 for Un Temps Pour Tout! Do they know something?? That's around 3 times bigger than most firms.

Was he declared today ?

Ahh went to top up again then as well!
Not a bad 10 mins indeed :) |
By:
Good spot lads!
By:
Briar Hill entered in the Galmoy Hurdle on the Thyestes card on Thursday. Needs to improve.
By:
wonder if you'll still have that lads account tomorrow :-)
By:
What are the options available to More Of That before Chelt seeing as he's not in the Cleeve?
By:
He'll probably go for the Rendlesham Hdle at Haydock on 14th Feb. Has previously won at the track.
By:
Great, thanks. Was starting to panic a little as couldn't think of any graded 3m races before the fest but forgot about that one. Let's hope it's not a bog!
By:
wonder whether more of that will go straight there now after his breathing op...he went there fresh last year i see no reason to bottom him unless the ground turns whichs looks unlikely at haydock park at present
good looking cleeve hurdle...blacklion an interesting entry in a good competitive heat |
By:
i've always thought saphir de reu looked to have a lot of speed so will be interesting how he goes
By:
Saphir fav for the Cleeve. Not sure I understand all the confidence behind him to be honest.
At 11/2 I'd be disappointed if Beat That didn't improve a tonne for his reappearence. |
By:
Whisper definitely going back over hurdles and going straight to world hurdle http://www.sportinglife.com/racing/news/article/465/9654500/whisper-heading-for-world-rule
By:
20/1 nr no bet at present, wont last long?
By:
Yeah that's gone now stevo. Interesting choice for Barry with Beat That and Whisper.
Turning into a really good, competitive race this. |
By:
Complexion of this race has definitely changed over the past couple of weeks.
Whisper is heading straight to chelt without another run though!! |
By:
That's Briar Hill and Monksland out of it for me. Briar Hill just doesn't look the same horse this year and Monksland had to win today getting weight from all of his main rivals
By:
^^ Agreed
By:
Briar Hill doesn't stay, I think they should run him in the Champion Hurdle tbh. Or go for County Hurdle / Coral Cup. He'll be rated high 140's I'd say now.
By:
Monksland i expect to improve again, especially given better ground. Wouldn't rule him out just yet.
