If he is sub 2/1 for the triumph on the day i will be place laying. It is a dog of a race that has been won by horses that go off at a great clip from half way recently and haven't been caught. I cannot imagine this is the way they will want to race with this one. They went a crawl early on. I actually fancy Karezak to reverse the placings at the festival though perhaps again not quite be good enough.

Looking at what we know so far, i wonder if we are yet to see the winner. But if we have and they go the pace they normally do in a triumph, it's set up to be a grueller imo.

Anyone backing this horse for the Triumph at 2/1 and 9/4 need their heads reading.

Backing any novice for any race at Cheltenham at 2/1 is madness.

His price is around 3/1 in my opinion. 9/4 is short but it's not overly short in my opinion. If he was 9/4 on the day and nothing at all changes in terms of opposition, it's a fair enough price. If I was pricing up the Triumph now, this would be my guess:

Peace and Co 3/1
Bristol De Mai 6/1
Fiscal Focus 6/1
Karezak 10/1
Kalkir 12/1
Top Notch 12/1
Hargam 16/1
Theophilius 16/1
Golden Doyen 20/1

That's around an 80-85% book and I'm probably missing a few at bigger prices. I'm actually quite surprised Fiscal Focus is so big at 16/1 with the bookies. He bet Kalkir a bit more comfortably than the 2L suggests in my opinion albeit in receipt of 3lbs and he jumped quite well as far as I could tell. He's probably going to appreciate better ground too. Karezak too doesn't deserve to be so big either in my opinion.

Hope to god Nigel TD tells the owners he has one at home that can beat it.

Just got home from Trials day and have to say I was a bit underwhelmed with the performance to be honest, and am amazed at the wide spread crash in his price on the back of it.

It's a shame it wasn't a true run race, but as someone has stated here, I think it throws up more questions than answers now on how to ride him now, as he was without doubt a lot more impressive bowling along in front.

As his nearest rival was 25's for the Triumph and he was 5/2 pre race, I was expecting a bit more, based on how he has been talked up and ratings he has had.

I think the Triumph is a lot more wide open than the market suggests, which from my point of view, will provide a few at bigger prices than maybe they ought to be.

He was anchored behind a crawling pace, still cruised into the race and won fairly easily.

In the triumph with a quicker pace to track think he will hack up. Far superior to anything in the race imo.

Definitely an underwhelming performance but only because the horse is a victim of his own success in the way he routed the opposition at Doncaster,Today was a perfectably good trial,But people were expecting more because of how he won on debut,If your Henderson you'd have to be happy with that,2 from 2 and has beaten some very decent horses and yardsticks.9/4 perfectably reasonable price from what he's achieved so far.

Can't believe his price is 2/1 for triumph after today - he hurdled well but dud not think he had much in hand at the finish and was very free in the first part of the race. We just do know how he will pick up in a fast run race so 2/1 is a poor price to find out if he us he us the real deal  - will wait to see what the opposition is before placing a bet

Why do we think a stronger pace will suit this horse? to me he did not come up the hill from the final flight to the line like a horse with boundless stamina, it was nothing to do with the horse scratching his head wondering what to do next IMO...it was more to do with him hard on the bridal but not finding as much as it looked he would do and for a triumph hurdle that's a real worry where usually (Our Conor aside)you've got them coming left right and centre up that hill.....I can see him disappointing and then trying a retrieval mission on the flat track at Aintree.

Cos of the settling issue Duffy.
Stronger the pace the easier should be for him to settle.
Pull like that for a few furlongs a horse is not gonna have so much at the end. That's why I imagine they were trying to get him to settle yesterday.

His next race is the Triumph, he has to settle better in that race, otherwise he may well struggle to get home.
More I think about it the more I think his price is awful.
Think I prefer the owners other 2 - Top Notch and Bristol De Mai.
Just wish I knew the plans for them 2,plus Vercingetorix as well,he looks bl00dy good.

Stronger pace also places more emphasis on stamina. Looked like he'd win 10 lengths at the last but only won by 3. Suggests stamina is an issue up the hill. Also all his form is on soft and it'll probably be good at the Festival, and he might still pull hard in the Triumph even if the pace is strong. All in all a shocking price.

Unfortunately we will not know until 13th March how good this horse is.................so punters backing him at 2.96 now are mad, it is a ludicrous price. I still feel Kalkir will be a threat and Ruby will ride it from the front!

Agree with Duffy. Just because a horse pulls hard it does not automatically mean a strong pace is what they need, it could just be a change in tactics is what is needed. A stronger pace on will just place a big empahsis on stamina. At one stage it looked like he was going to win much more easily than he did but when BJG went for him he found less than expected. Off a slow pace you would expect more imo.

He was not the only horse who was keen in the race. The horse in 3rd could be one for the Fred Winter now thinking about it, depending on his rating.

Was there yesterday.  The horse looks like a 3 year old miler in looks, has no back-end or girth to it at all. All speed on looks.  I wouldn't back in on looks alone, I suspect he is a horse where a soft ground race like yesterday will really take it out of him, however well he travelled. Aintree yes, a stamina sapping Triumph hurdle is another thing.

Think hes still got My Tent Or Yours in mind,he would have won the CH if he settled.
Its not good to pull, and its pretty much set in stone that the slower a horse goes to what he wants to go,he will pull more, as with MTOY.

There's no getting away from the fact that he didn't sprint away yesterday but you do have to ask the question whether that ground was one where a horse was going to sprint away? He wasn't stopping at the end and ran right through the line. I remember Jacob when interviewed after Bristol won at Chepstow saying that deep ground was what that horse wanted but that he thought Peace would go on good ground. If it is good in March I think he'll travel like the best horse and like I said earlier could be long gone by the time the grinders start coming to the fore. I certainly don't see him as a Starluck type and if he does get nabbed I suspect it may be because Geraghty holds onto him for too long and he gets done close home.

Zarib also came out of #CheltenhamTrials well and will go to either Fred Winter or Triumph dependent on hcap mark. Better ground will help

Having watched Un De Sceaux show what pure class can do from the front. It makes you wonder, if Mullins had bought Peace & Co for Ricci would he be making the running in all his races. Rather than wasting his jumping by holding him up?

good enough to win either race imo but cant see the owner wanting his 2 best horses in the same race when they can possibly win 2 races..

It's half a furlong less Unforgettable but someone made the comment which I do agree with that he is quite leggy. It isn't a gimme that the old course would suit as it is more undulating and tight than the new course. I'd imagine he's been given a speculative entry to give them the option should something go wrong with their main supreme hope L'Ami Serge. As alleged said I'd think connections and especially Hendo/Geraghty would want two bites at the cherry.

May depend on what the owner thinks of his other juveniles,he could have one or two in the supreme and one or two in the triumph. Not set in stone which are better imo.

Surprised at how easily he was beaten off by an exposed type and a poor jumping novice who probably isn't front rank. I wonder if anything will come to light?

I'd not treat any race result today seriously with regards to what happens in March though, Be very surprised if all are fully tuned up and of course the ground has been a mess.
