Let's hope so Howdi. Cap Conan is my CC horse, but i wouldn't grudge SS a safe return. He deserves it.
|
By:
Sprinters wind is ruined isn't it ?
Conan done a pelvis at Chelts, Both got a long road ahead of them. |
By:
they dont come back anywhere near as good as they were.
|
By:
I don't think he will but I'll be very happy if I'm proved wrong.
|
By:
if the horse felt something in that race then probally not but lets hope
|
By:
after seeing Sizing win today makes you appreciate how good sacre was last year in the champion chase.
|
By:
Like DENMAN, he will probably be good enough to place in a Festival or two, but not be able to win again. Its a real disappointment, he is the best 2M Chaser I have seen, he literally floated along.
|
By:
I doubt he will ever be quite the same, but hope I am wrong.
|
By:
Denman won a Hennesy after his heart op and finished runner up in three more gold cups and if you add it all up he won just as much prizemoney after the op as he did before. He fully recovered from the work he had done and there is plenty of evidence to suggest he came back very near to his best if not better.
The myth about Denman is not supported by fact. |

Hope so but very rarely do they come back as good as they were but would be great to see him battle it out ...Balder Success for me like this horse reminds of Viking Flagship (Properly my favourite ever horse)
|
By:
viking flagship was a grizzled warrior who relished every inch of a battle....balder success doesn't even like being crowded by other horses around him.
|
By:
3/1 or so is a fair price on SS IMO.... I think I'll be backing him, but not till Oct/Nov I guess. Should be the same price then, and if he does well in his first race up, then he'll be odds on soon after.
Fifty/Fifty he's back to good enough, so 3/1 got to be value. |
By:
My instinct instinct id that that we may nay not see Sprintre Sacre again. If the boys and girls at the Fethard Clinic in Tiooerary cannot bring him back, it is very doubtful.
|
By:
Sire de grugy could be evens if sacre retirement is announced.
|
By:
Nothing really looking like it will come from this years 2m novice chasers for next year's QMCC; but then again, SDG did come from relative obscurity and then burst on to the big stage.
Hard to look past the big two, with only Simonsig looking like a danger lurking down the market, if he can return to his best. |
By:
Hope he comes back as good but deep down inside I don't think he'll run again.

Hope so Howdi but im a great believer that they don't come back....Im all over Balder Success for the CC next season and cant believe 14/1 @ present .... also SDG @ 4/1 is a cracking price the Champion Chase pot has started and i fully expect to collect plenty from either come next march ...added bonus nice bday prezzie of her indoors is a trip to the Tingle creek meeting in december were all 3 mentioned may well b in the line up
|
By:
may see you at the tingle creek abbey

These top trainers are masters at making excuses to millionaires to keep their horses on the payroll.
|
By:
History tells us that great horses often don't make it back or some back sub-optimally. Denman was awesome when he won his Gold Cup beating Kauto Star and Neptune Collonges and IMHO he didn't achieve that level again.
The chances are Sprinter Sacre won't take on Sire De Grugy again and given the 2 mile chase scene is lacking any credible oppostion to SDG, 5/1 seems worth the punt that he keeps fit and they campaign sensibly. I really like the owner/trainer/jockey combination and happy to be cheering their horse on again. |
By:
Denman won just as much money after his heart probs as he did before and didn't he win a big newbury race after as well ? I have horses here that have had heart probs and still perform on the show jumping circuit as well as before , there is every chance sprinter will make a full recovery.

From the Post:
SPRINTER SACRE and Simonsig, the two superstar chasers whose absence through injury scuppered Nicky Henderson's bid for the trainers' championship last season, are back in training and set to hit the racecourse within months. Having carried all before him over fences with ten straight victories and seven consecutive Grade 1s, Sprinter Sacre's serene progress at the top of the two mile chasing tree came to a juddering halt when he was pulled up at Kempton and diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat. Simonsig, meanwhile, developed a splint on his near-fore. However, on Monday Henderson told the Racing Post both were making good progress and outlined the duo's ambitious early season targets. Pick up Tuesday's Racing Post or buy the iPad edition from 8pm for full details |
By:
Did anyone catch what the early season targets were?
|
By:
Tingle Creek for Sprinter, King George for Simonsig
I can't see Sprinter coming back as good but the 2m chase division is so poor at the moment that he might not need to to regain his crown |

By:
We can but hope this great horse can return somewhere near it's best. The 4s SDG looks about right at.
|
By:
Nicky didn't seem over confident in the channel 4 update on last Saturdays show....He was much more upbeat regarding Simonsig however.
|
By:
never, god love him his light shone as bright as any, but he will never be able to let rip like he once did

Said horse, just been matched at 9.2 on the graph, then someone else gone in and backed it again at 3.65 yet still available at 3/1 with 2 bookies?
|
By:
A mistake probably by a layer but maybe a sign of imminent news
![]() ![]() |
By:
Noticed this earlier although with Sprinter's recent record off track if anybody wanted to play silly beggars this is the market to do it in.
|
By:
Struggling with Sprinter is all I've heard, Although SDG is also a bit behind with his joints, Of the 2 SDG is most likely to return at a similar level to last season judged on current whispers.
|
By:
Personally I have a bad feeling about the these two this season, sprinter and sdg
|
By:
IVE NOT HEARD THOSE WHISPERS GUT I HEARD THE OPPOSITE
|
By:
Should be interesting to see what whispers are correct then Howdi, I'd happily back he isn't the horse he once was than back him for Cheltenham glory myself, I will get the humble pie in the oven for his triumphant return just in case I've been misinformed

By:
AGREE PAL.
|
By:
I'll get a shot for this but I think he was a better horse than Kauto Star

By:
Not by me you wouldn't as is a game of opinions, Be boring if we all agreed & this place would be a ghost town.
Hope you're well. |
By:
gut who would u have the better horse?
