Anyone got any links for today?
I'm one of the unlucky ones back in work this week so missed it ![]() |

Well there's the start of it! Horses pulling out of the Ascot race because Sprinter Sacre is making his comeback in it. Good to see the fear factor back.

SS schooling video here: http://www.racinguk.com/news/article/32222/sacre-back-to-school-at-newbury
I had a really vivid dream last night that Sprinter came back to himself, went off I think 7/4 for the Champion Chase, and broke a blood vessel. I cried! Means chuff all, but thought it an interesting tidbit ![]() To my untrained eye, I thought he looked great in that gallop and think that he'll come back. Based on not much more than just feeling after seeing that video. |

If Sprinter comes back a stone less than he was he will win another Champion Chase. Denman came back to run a career equaling best 182 in winning his second Hennessy. Sprinter is still young enough to come back to a high level of form, he is aided by the fact the 2 mile division is very poor bar Sire De Grugy and even his Champ Chase form isn't that strong given who he beat.
tbh I'll probably take a punt on Sprinter for Champ Chase if/when I see him line up at Ascot. Hendo just seems to have lost his bottle, Nicholls was more than happy to Run Denman at a track he hated at Kempton as he needed to get him fit, defeat or not for Cheltenham. So we may confuse some of Hendersons fear of seeing his horse beat, for his horse being not the same as he was. Whatever he does at Ascot (as long as he wins) he will improve I'd say, if I see zest in the jumping and travelling down the back then I'd be happy he's still close to where he was. He probably might tire a tad at the end. I'd really love to see him come back. We've been robbed of a horse I felt would step up in trip last season had all been A-Ok. |

Cracking bet imo.

I've played and taken 11/4 as Barry Gerraghty was so enthusiastic he is back to his best took the hint.Hopefully he will win well at ascot and can then either let it run or lay off stake. Just hoping he is back

The Henderson camp were bullish about Bobs on Sunday and all paddock judges said he looked great but he still ran like a drain.
I'd love him to come back to his best, but I just have this doubt that wont go away about Henderson's capabilities with injuries/longevity of career compared to PFN. Still, the NRNB looks tempting as if he bombs at Ascot, he'd be long odds on running in the QM. |

Brilliant point about longevity Nicholls certainly seems to have the magic touch, compared to Hendo.
|

You think of Henderson's team a few years ago - Sprinter, Simonsig, Bobs Worth, Riverside Theatre, Finians Rainbow, Long Run, Darlan, Binocular. An embrassment of riches, but not a shadow of that.
The way Nicholls has come back after the retirements of his stars like Kauto, Denman, Master Minded and Big Bucks is fantastic. |

Nope , let's see if he even runs on the 10th first. No run in over a year , is not a good sign.

Henderson has had only 4 chase winners in the past 6 months they just said on the morning line today!!!!

Have just watche Sprinter Sacres and Sire De Grugys Champion Chase wins and in my estimation SDGs was run about 7 seconds quicker. It was run at a far quicker pace but he did win it very impressively. Now I've always been a massive SS fan (backed him at 8/1 for the Arkle and it paid for my whole Cheltenham that year and I'm on him at 4/1 to win this years) but if SDG comes back 2 his best then maybe it won't be as straight forward as we all think and hope.

A bit off the Thread but Jonjo and AP McCoy have not combined for a winner since Goodwood Mirage at Wetherby on 15th October and O'Neil not had any winner since November. Now that's amazing.

It would be great to see both SS and SDG contest the Champion. I won't be betting in the race but it would add significantly to the spectacle. This is one of my favourite heats and I felt a bit cheated somehow last year.

Think both of them will be NRs.

Henderson in tomorrow's RP talking about skipping next weeks race?
@jamesaknight: RP headline: 'Henderson voices rain fears over Sprinter's return'. Another racecourse gallop, perhaps, and then #straighttocheltenham ? Or could he face Sire de Grugy at Newbury? |
|
By:
He said if it was very soft Sprinter wouldn't run, but he has the Game Spirit as back up if that happens.
|
|
By:
Henderson said if it's good/soft he runs. Any worse and he'll send him 2 Newbury (Game Spirit).
|
|
By:
If he misses this and goes to Chelts with one prep run he'll bounce up n down the run in. Henderson in shock **** himself again drama part 783756. The man who can't find races for any horses it seems. Horse was "absolutely flying" week before Tingle Creek so why did he not run there??
|
|
By:
Although to be fair this is a horse of a lifetime!

oh christ here we go again the longest drama in history this
![]() |

The inside word was that the horse had completely gone - from being the 2nd best work horse at home to the worst - barely able to get past anything - he's apparently working much better but not back to where he was at home.
They're hoping the racecourse will give him that extra kick. |

Think wellchief is referring to the racecourse gallop at Newbury weekend before last
|
|
By:
Exbalco's post explains why he previously drifted out to 4s with no takers. He seemed to be back ok in the Newbury gallop but you cannot be sure as we don't know how well tanks is going. It will be interesting if he actually runs at Ascot as it is likely to be soft going. I think my speculative bet made more in hope than anything else is not looking so good

Interesting article by Andrew Longmore in Sunday Times (print version) today, included the following passage:
"He just wasn't the Sprinter Sacre we knew." says Henderson. "His work just was n't up to standard." Not,at least, up to the high standards that Sacre had set during his two years of dimination. Though 95% of Sprinter Sacre could comfortably dispose of most of the two - mile chasers in the land, Henderson would not compromise on the remaining 5%." We just had to sit still and wait." Henderson says. "It's like saying: 'I'm going to make that daffodil flower tomorrow'.You can't do it, you can't force it. You've got to be patient and we were and, gradually, the shoots of recovery began to appear and things started going the right way." After the racecourse gallop at Newbury, Henderson said something along the lines of, that they would n't have taken him there unless they were pretty confident about what they were going to see. He is also probably the most risk averse trainer out there. I hope, and think, that he will go to Ascot and win well - the game could do with a shot in the arm just now and it would be great if he could provide it. |

If the weather forecast for this week is correct, I don't think we'll be seeing him at Ascot on Saturday.
