First suggestion that Faugheen is Neptune bound as Mullins admits its his most likely target. 'Can be a bit fresh so 3 miles could stretch' via @BillEsdaile

As with 99% of ante post events a quick look at the betfair odds suggests where he is going. If we didn't have betfair we really wouldn't have a clue what this guy was going to do

It doesn't sound good re Faugheen atm. WPM saying he's not been happy with him lately and they changed his feed last night.
I did wonder why he has not had another run. |

With 365 now going NRNB on all races have saved on Red Sherlock (who looks a nice animal despite that regular tail swish) & Briar Hill just in case something goes wrong with Faugheen - still think he'll end up hacking up like Simonsig did a couple of years back but the right time to save now imo.
Latest view - Faugheen will go off 7/4f - The bookies will be a wee bit scared after the Vautor, Champagne, Fly, Quevega first day bloodbath ;-) |

@Bluebird, didn't like them one bit either but doesn't appear to have affected his price that much. The price action for Red Sherlock has been a big negative also, didn't know whether this might be a result of slightly drier conditions the last few days or something else. Couldn't find anything in the press. I haven't seen anymore quotes from Mullins on either Faugheen or Vautour. Maybe people are wary of pilling in until the declerations are made and the majority of firms go NRNB on all the other races.

Murders Red Sherlock for my money anyway. Obv sent Rathvinden for a sighter and Red Sherlock struggled past him with his tail going like a windmill.

Not really sure where the main danger to Faugheen is coming from, don't think there's a lot of betting confidence behind anything.

my comment kinda answers your other thread harry with regards faugheens prep, think he has them guessing coz obviously does nothing at home hence the strange schedule, and the lack of ramping from stable like they did to pont last year, diferent horse on the track.

you maybe right alleged, he obviously has a huge amount of ability but i think they have prepped him over further because of his jumping, could be wrong or they thought briar hill would be the classier horse hence the preparations...not sure hence the other thread...
this mullins first quote on his bumper 11May13 Punchestown ( 16 Y ,RPR136 ) He has been working well and was ready to run last year only for a problem to hold him up. I might go for a winners´ bumper with him now and he looks a nice prospect to go novice hurdling with.-Willie Mullins, trainer. |

Maybe Faugheen will be one of those horses that do their stuff on the track rather than a flashy work horse. He looked a beast on his last run, hopefully they have been working on his jumping

don't think the ground will be at a problem at all.
Bolted up in a good ground point and breezed by useful Empire Of Dirt off a modest pace at Navan in Dec on Good to Yielding ground. Doesn't look to have an overly soft ground action to me. Only issue is he can get in a bit tight to a couple of hurdles and still learning to measure them. Fastest horse in the race (Willie said he was his best bumper last year including Briar Hill), if he jumps clean, will win |
