At this stage i can see 3,maybe 4 strong candidates,Overturn being one of them.
to be honest i would not like to say which ones most likely winner out of them, but i will say the odds should be closer.

statistically a very unlikely winner indeed having two major trends to overcome

and in the long run, as a punter, it is proven that opposing long established trends is not the best way to make profits

of course every runner has a finite chance so he could win the race but strategically speaking he is not a smart play at this stage

ive taken 8's on him and happy with that, think he will be shorter come the day should he run.

Judo,
i know the age stat, which i aint bothered about, whats the other one mate?

Actually, think i recall it being a front runner stat.
yeh,i can see that, but the thing with Overturn and also Arvika,is that any horse in behind can not afford one mistake, cos if they jump as they did in their respective chases, that would be game over.
Love to see the main players at this stage all turn up on the day in top form, what a treat that would be.

The ground is the player here and interesting that Barry G never even gave AL a mention but *OVERTURN* he most certainly did !! 8s is a super price imo
By:

When: 23 Dec 12 16:38
well compared to the price of the fav,i would certainly think it value at 8.

I'd like to know what he says in private rather than to the cameras regarding Overturn or Simonsig/Captain Conan.
Merry Christmas one and all :)

why people keep going on about MAJOR stat that no 9 year old has won race and have terrible record is beyond me. If you look at last 10 years there have been 140 runners in the arkle 8 of those 9 year olds. stgae affair 20/1, premiership 400/1, adamant approach 7/1, town crier 50/1, ricardo 100/1, captain cee bee 5/2, ned kelly 12/1 and barton 9/2.

Out of those you could take 4 maybe 5 who actually stood any chance of winning. So out of 140 runners your looking at 4% actually being 9 year olds.

This trend/stat means nothing as if OVERTURN wins arkle this year then the year after it means the trends point to backing every 9 year old as percentage is turned right round.

For me I think Simonsig will pi*s race but for those of you following this 9 year old trend its complete and utter rubbish.

Im not put off with the age statistic of Overturn its just Simonsig really impressed in its racecourse gallop the other day. I mentioned on a thread months ago of being SO impressed by this horse as a specimen on the walkway at the Neptune at the festival, its got the pace, leaps enthusiastically and bar its fall will go close.......top rated of the novices last year,Overturn is the only realistic challenger at this time(may change over the festive period)and dont see any further improvement(very high class hurdler granted)so its a S/Fc with these two on the day if they turn up,quality renewal.

I'm on Overturn at 20's, still think 8's isn't a bad price. Simonsig was impressive but 2's..not for me.
By:
pollybournemouth
When: 23 Dec 12 23:21
Muzza well done on your price - look someone on here yesterday was saying how much better simonsig is Whoops than Sprinter S and of course i doubt Sprinter could live with SimonsigWink but please tell me how you learnt anything from his run friday

Learnt that he jumps better now than in his p2p days,Price is a joke though imo
By:

When: 24 Dec 12 00:09
Well as he's better than the Sprinter i suppose he will never come under pressure so we will never see him of the bridle Crazy

With the ground getting softer seemingly by the second , what was already a very difficult task for CC gets even harder, I don't personally think he will stay, but trying to guess how the race will be run it seems to me to be all against the horse.

He's a 2 miler for me but now that they have committed to 3 miles it will be very disappointing if they attempt (horse won't allow it mind you) to ride him to get the trip, they need to send him on and get him into a slick jumping rhythm which he is good at, that's how they should be thinking, although it'll be to no avail Imo.

Long way to go before he can be spoken of in the same breath as Sprinter Sacre.

ffs mccain, run the bloody thing will youCryGrin
By:
RockMonkey
When: 26 Dec 12 17:47
Exactly. He'll be waiting a long time for sum decent ground, season will be over at this rate.
By:

When: 26 Dec 12 17:55
Henderson has said that we're at the stage now where you have just got to race them hence simonsig is out twice in less than 2 weeks, I'm wondering if mccain is suffering from the peddlers cross debacle last year and is just too scared to run unless everything is 100% right, he's too afraid of the wheels coming off, he'll prefer to go to the festival cold but with the dream still alive!!!
By:

When: 26 Dec 12 18:09
He's in at doncaster on saturday...fingers crossed, if they can keep soft in the description, he might run him.

Missing again tomorrow. McCain is a **** - if he waits for proper good ground he could go in to the Arkle without another run!
By:

When: 28 Dec 12 23:14
Yes i agree Henderson has shown some class over Simonsig and McCain loses out again
By:

He is waiting for better ground..... so far my attempts at trying to obtain a price for him to win the summer plate at market rasen in july have been fruitless!!! Crazy

I'm starting to circulate missing posters about the place regarding this horse.
By:

McCain doesn't have to rush the horse as he has one arkle contender. Henderson has 2 potential Arkle horses to juggle. McCain has proven he knows how to prepare and win at the festival. There is no point in running the horse for the sake of it, as he has already proven that he can fly over them.

When: 01 Jan 13 15:52
If henderson thinks that there comes a time when you simply have to get your horses onto the track and get some practice/work-out into them that would be good enough for me.....in fact , mccain has said himself the horse needs a run...he's just to worried about getting on with it for me, unless everything is absolutely perfect for him....which it isn't going to be.
