Old Roan Chase day and Charlie Hall day will be my next days at the track.

Went to York for my first flat meeting in 12 months, and as good as Frankel was, not a patch on Sprinter Sacre winging the fences up the hill!

If Kauto does run in the King George, I may do the unthinkable and actually get up at 5am on Boxing Day to travel down to Kempton - last time (and the only time) I went, it was a couple of years ago when rescheduled in January because of the snow.

Oh, you poor lad. You should move south. It doesn't have much going for it, but it does have most of the decent racecourses.

There are some sighters in October but the season doesn't start properly for me until the Open meeting in November. The gloves come off then!

Carruthers brings back very good memories - an inspired ride from Mattie Batchelor (never thought I'd say that in my lifetime) but don't think anyone else could have won on it that day.

Great thread, CheltenhamRoar.

Charlie Hall Chase day marks the start of the jumps for me.

Here's a lovely video to remind us all why we love the jumps so much (not that we need reminding)

i am like Cheltenham Roar and beleive it starts with Chepstow. Not that there are many great horses that run at Chepstow, on that day, but for me, that is the start of long run up to the big one in March.

It begins at Chepstow but with this rain the summer are gonna disappear sooner and we could get some proper horses running. I'll be looking from the 4th at Bangor. Sunday 7th has 3 meets after all.

Loved the video. Worth checking out the Mccain videos on here, under his blog section. He looks to have some nice new horses, and seems set for another good season.

Confirmed for Gowran Park tomorrow. Sizing Europe, First Lieutenant, China Rock, Forpadydeplasterer & Joncol. While I'm sure none will be at their absolute best it's a cracking race to start the season with.
