yeh,we have strayed from the topic a tad,but just like to add:
GCW,i really not sure the money side of it is as important to this owner as the prestige, and the thought of FR beating SS might get him going a tad!! They can all say what they like about SS,but FR is the 2m champion and the owner wants to stay at that level for the horse. Yes,he will go the Gold Cup if he stays, thats the top level still, but i am sure if he dont he will defend the QM. As much as i like the Ryanair,to the owner the GC and QM are light years ahead. Dont forget also if all else fails, and SS has proved as good or better than most think he will, then they have the Ryanair the following year. |

Don't like the ryanir for what it does to the qm and the gc, it gives connections a way of avoiding horses whilst giving them the chance to still win a festival race, the cue card scenario is a classic example, he should imo be running in the queen mum but will most probably swerve that for the ryanir, all it takes is for a dominant horse to reign in the 2 mile division and we are going to get 4 horses turning up for the qm and 15 in the ryannir.

The situation should work to force the best horses together at the festival, not to let them dodge one another.

well i missed the 20's on offer for overturn, but have decided to have a bit of the 8's still available.
good price i feel. |
By:
He won me over at sandown, the last time i was that impressed with a novice was somersby at the same track.
By:
as far as i know he got beat in that seasons arkle.
By:
a diminishing length or so behind....sizing europe....i'd settle for that level of performance from overturn!!
By:
well it'll be overturn doing the chasing this time with simonsig doing the winning! lol.
By:
Can anyone please explain why Simonsig is as short as 11/4 and Overturn as long as 8/1 for the Arkle..It doesnt make sense to me or have i missed something?
By:
Hype!!
As he aint chased yet!! |
By:
11/4 before it has run over fences but who we know was a very impressive hurdler although he missed the odd one out, bit short really, but that's the SS effect for you.
By:
Well he won the Neptune easily and then did the same at Aintree, but whether that entitles him to be that price for the Arkle before hes jumped a fence,is open to debate.
Actually no it aint really, the price is nonsense. Ive seen many a more fluent hurdler than Simonsig,so it will be very interesting to see how he fares over the big ones. |
By:
i have listened and read interviews with henderson and he thinks simonsig is the real deal. he spoke of the debate about the neptune or supreme last season and he said that he would have won either race. he also said that if he had kept him to hurdles this season that he is in no doubt that he would be a champion hurdle horse. i read his racing post stable tour and he said that him and sprinter sacre are the best working horses in his stable. in short henderson thinks simonsig is something special and if he takes to fences first time out then as much as i like and was impressed bt overturn at sandown, simonsig is going to be hard to beat come cheltenham.
By:
Well we want competitive races,so lets hope Simonsig does jump ok.
Still an if at this stage as you say,so we have to wait and see whether anyone taking those prices is off their rocker or not. |
By:
I love Overturn who was my only CH bet last year but flat/hurdling types very rarely beat bumper/chasing types in the Arkle. Size matters.
By:
I also Simonsig makes it over fences....I fancy Zarkandar strongly for the CH and would see Simonsig as the main threat
By:
That dont put me off one bit Sage, main thing for me is his class and the way he jumps.
By:
any news when simonsig is likely to run over fences?
By:
Newbury apparently
By:
dec 1st. 2 1/2m then dropping down to 2m.
By:
If they all stand their ground we will see Captain Conan v Overturn v Hinterland v Third Intention in the Henry VIII this weekend, proper Arkle trial
By:
No jockey for Overturn though. Maguire going to Aintree for Ballabriggs.
By:
Not declared for the weekend
By:
Wonder why this is. Ground is probably going to dry to good to soft by tomorrow, as it was on chase debut. Can't believe it is just because Maguire couldn't ride him, as they have known that for days.
By:
no idea,anyone heard anything?
By:
Nothing. Can't believe no journos have found out and tweeted it. Surely the one racing question today that people want answered? Yet an hour and a half has passed and no-one knows why the defection.
By:
prospect of bad ground on teletext.
By:
Cheers. Soft, good to soft in places first thing this morning. Dry and sunny all day today with no more rain forecast. Not convinced it's going to be horrific conditions.
