I certainly will. Same to you.

I don't really think he's as bad as people make out settling wise. He just needs to go a sensible pace. He hardly ran himself into the ground at Donny did he? He just went a sensible pace and when asked to he sped up nicely after the last. It's not like he blazed off and pulled D Bass' arms out. If he goes the same pace as he did at Donny he's not going to be tying up and getting tired because PC is in the race.

Pretty pathetic stuff imo, seemingly no excuse except a lack of bottle on Menorah/FNS's part. Very disappointing.
By:
I understand, especially from Menorah's perspective given his stop-start campaign but had expected For Non Stop to join the party. His presence was, in a way, the most fascinating piece of the puzzle.
By:
Yes FNS is a big miss in terms of collateral form. All scared off by the two monsters. Shame

Think too much is being made of his inability to settle. I dont think it's that bad. It's not like the jockey is really having to fight him.
In last seasons supreme for me anyway, the reason he didn't fly up the hill was because he went for home with cue card far too early. He looks a very nice horse but he hasn't proved it like peddlers and al ferof have with their grade 1 victories. But his debut at donny beating a good 130 yardstick with ease was good to the eye. I can't make al ferof out really. I'm not sure if his victory in last years supreme was because he stayed out of the early sprint for home or if he is a tank. Ruby had him deep on the track the whole way and still won pulling a small onion cart. Peddlers is just a smashing horse. He is quick he stays he is game and tough. His run in the ch was top drawer stuff. Think he will be a very tough nut to crack come march |
By:
As already noted, very disappointing turn out. With good place money on offer, this really is shocking and PC and SS do have to get round.
Wonder what the conversation between Maguire & Geraghty will be on the way to post!? |
By:
Not long now
I am having a back to lay on Sprinter - 2.46 matched, will be trying to lay 1.8 hopefully to green up all round fingers crossed for a decent race |
By:
Wow!
By:
new Arkle favourite surely
By:
Thats that sorted then!
By:
Wow....now you know why hendo is so excited about this horse. Don't think PC enjoyed going righted handed - kept hanging to the left but outclassed today.
By:
5/2 SS prob be arounfd the right price
By:
taking nothing away from the winner, he was impressive, but peddlers was beat from the very beginning...a whole host of horses would have beat peddlers today...something wrong i would have thought

Time for the Sprinter Sacre for the Queen Mother thread?
![]() |
By:
Immense
![]() He's almost too good, nothing can take him the gallop he wants.. |
By:
indeed
By:
Surprised Peddlers is only pushed out to 5/1 after that.
By:
well done to all on the thread that kept the faith. This is something a bit different. Machine |
By:
Peddlers may well be much much better at Cheltenham, still expect him to be bang there but SS strongly clear fav now imo
will they give SS another run? 1 more I should think would be perfect. Newbury? |
By:
The winning time against standard will probably tell us the value of the form. PC was hanging left all the way round and wasn't suited by the course. If this was PC anywhere near his best however then SS really is something special. He was cantering turning in and BG only really asked to to quicken from there.
By:
Yeah I would guess Newbury judorick, probably another 3 runner affair
![]() |
By:
yes will need to see the time of the race and the speed ratings to really confirm the form
but he jumps so slickly, wow natural jumper of a fence |
By:
Yes, what pleased me the most today was that he got into trouble 2 or 3 times, he was on completly the wrong stride, but did it all himself and got himself out of trouble without even making any sign of a mistake. This is one of the most important aspects of chasing and he's proved he can do that now. That's what pleased me
![]() |
By:
going right to the top I reckon
By:
Even if Peddlars was below his best, SS looked to be about 20 lbs better in today's race. That's a lot to make up!
By:
TIME 3m 58.50s (slow by 8.50s)
By:
As predicted SS is utterly different class to Pedlars Cross - he would have been over hurdles too if they had chosen to stay over the smaller obstacles.
Now I just need to pray to God that Gerraghty dosen't get injured or banned and they give the ride to McCoy ![]() |
By:
Only really relevant strontium when we see the times of the other races against standard run on the chase course today. Ground offcially a bit quicker today than yesterday.
By:
Of course - just posted for information, I made no comment. I'm not sure how much relevance times ever truly have in three runner races (and effectively a two runner race).
By:
Shame there was not another horse, such as FNS or Menorah, so we could see how they fared against Peddlers, as we don't know if he was slammed by a far superior rival, or something was amiss?
By:
a visual impression from the word go was that something was amiss....he was beat without SS doing anything to him for me.
By:
McCain talking about stepping up in trip? Who knows but he couldn't at any stage go with SS without having to work very hard and was beat very easily. I can't say he has no chance of winning the Arkle but he has a huge amount of space to make up even if he wasn't right today. Again at the line SS didn't even look like a tired horse and won going away. Very excited about this horse. Think PC will still reach a high level over fences. Just doesn't have the speed of SS. Now all of those who said PC had more speed and how much in hand on hurdles ratings? Please stand up? And SS imo could have easily ran in a Champion Hurdle. He is a speedball.
By:
"For a big horse, he is very clever. He shows plenty of respect for his fences and is not running like a headless chicken.
"He's got the right combination of pace and respect for his fences. He's one of the best I've ever sat on - he is frighteningly good." Quote from Gerraghty, and he's sat on MF. |

MM
i'll stand up, the winner was very impressive but anyone who thinks that that was the real pc is pushing it, i realize that for SS fans the idea that pc ran his true race makes it even better and conversely for pc fans to find excuses is natural, i try to look at things as unbiased as i can and the visual impression has to be that peddlers was beat from the word go. |
By:
That may be so Duffy, but PC was beaten by an enormous margin. How far below his best do you think he was? If he improves on today by a stone and a half SS may well still beat him.
By:
strontium
it's impossible to quantify , every stride they go compounds it more and more.from a peddlers point of view it would have been morec worrying if he had jumped well and travelled for a large part of the race and then as the screw was turned he was gradually beaten off....do we think that SS made him clout the first....however impressive the winner was....peddlers was beaten from the start of the race. |
By:
i wouldn't dream of sticking religiously to a point of view because i'm too stubborn to change, look at the grands crus thread for evidence of that, but there was an argument today to not take that race at face value.
By:
yes PC never went a yard
have to see him again in a good race left handed but the Sprinter going to the top for sure |
By:
Fair enough, one can always forgive one bad run. But the winner did look massively superior today, so the "pressure" is now very much on PC to step (back) up, rather than SS to prove he's the better horse.
