To be fair he has beaten absolutely nothing in those chases, Sweeps Hill was a decent hurdler but hasn't done anything over fences. He (RD) may have won a 'grade 2' over fences but is was a grade 2 in name only. The point is, Realt Dubh and Head Of The Posse wouldn't have got close in the Tranquil Sea race (imo), and the times are only respective of how each race was run.
Mikael as I said is an exciting horse, but unless you think he is Arkle bound (16/1 is fair), you aren't getting value. I think the single figure prices for the RSA is terrible value. |

I have backed him for the Arkle at 26.0 but feel he'll go for the RSA.
I think giving him an entry in the Gold Cup says it all about how much Mullins thinks of this horse. |

The 2009 Ballymore Novices' Hurdle winner fell at the last when in with a winning chance in the Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse last Wednesday on his first run over fences, following a long absence. Mullins said: "He will be entered in everything at Cheltenham. He won the Ballymore over two miles five, but he has plenty of speed over two. "The RSA is three mile one and the Gold Cup is three mile two and that's another ball game. We have never been worried about him staying. He's one of those horses that can change gear and go with faster horses as well." He also told At The Races: "I'm looking at the entries for Christmas. He's in the two-mile novice (Bord Na Mona With Nature Novice Chase) on St Stephen's Day [December 26] and the three-mile novice later in the week." ffs[smiley:crazy] |

I don`t have time to post on 40 threads a day and I also don`t care if you regurgitate my posts, but I have noticed your aversion to posting on my threads, long before I criticized you on Arc day. Ghizao loves Good to Soft which is what he will get on Cheltenham tuesday. Has all the credentials and Ruby is a great judge, if he mentions the Stewart/Johnson horse as a potential Well Chief and based on what I have seen that is good enough for me. I am expecting another development on the Arkle front however from another horse who will be a big player imo. |

Mind you I dont think Mikael's jumping will hold up in the Arkle and it is likely to cost him the race.

I wouldnt read too much into Mikael running in the 2m 1f nov ch Cooldine ran in the race as a novice and still ended up in the RSA.
Trying to 2nd guess Mullins plans is an impossible task imo. |

I think he'll end up in the Arkle too, although Willie won the RSA with Cooldine, it looks like that race finished him, got to think that will be in the back of Willie's mind.

Mullins is surely going to give an indicator of which race is the first choice if he wins impressively today. |

Didnt travel anywhere near as well today as last time out when cantering over Jessie's Dream. Seemed to bounce there. Hope nobody was daft enough to back him at the price today when they would have just been looking for a clear round from him.

Personally think he was just outpaced. Given that he was getting further than two miles as a four year old, on heavy ground, and that his best hurdling form was over 2m4f+, it didn't exactly come as a surprise. He didn't jump brilliantly, but if he were a 2 miler, he would've been much closer. Seemed to travel pretty well until they quickened up. Not surprising to see him finish with LML, who himself clearly needs further based on his form with Captain Chris.

Dont know about sellers he was winning a Grade 1 in a hack canter last time out, he either bounced or lost a lot of confidence after his fall as we saw a different horse today.

yep seems logical Wicketd. MDH was dropping from 20f lto to 17f today against one or two horses who deffo have more speed. I couldn't be having him for the Arkle now tbh, he is 33/1 on here for anyone who fancies it.

Todays run was nothing to do with the distance of the race, if they had gone further he would have been beaten further. Last time out he was stuffing todays winner Realt Dubh in a hack canter before knuckling on landing over the last. Think he lost confidence after the fall, at least he got around today which will help him next time out. If he had fallen today it was game over re his confidence over fences, now he lives to fight another day.

was hanging badly the last five six fences which would suggest he hurt himself during the race. hope its nothing serious. ridiculous running him so soon.

By all means have your fiver on at big odds but he may have gone lame or anything there. Best to wait and hear if it is physical and if not it could be confidence or bounce running so soon after following a very long layoff.

No Arkle horse as i have been saying,definite stayer as his hurdle form suggests.
Ground would not have suited today,but their is no way he will run in Arkle now imo |

No updates on his physical well-being today. Horse ran like he hadnt trained since his last run and had too much Christmas pudding you dont go from hero to zero in one run? Trainer says no plans, connections have been so patient surely the horse should be sorted out by now?

The horse has a history of injuries aswell. Was reported to be ready last season, but then never made it to the track.
People who backed this horse for the Arkle must have faint hopes now i'd say |

Really think the horse has masses of ability, he effortlessly moved up alongsides Jessie's Dream last time who is a v good horse. Would love Ruby up on him to sort his jumping though as it is during races he needs guidance. Makes my Gold Cup choice easier next year if they dont sort him out.

The horse does have masses of ability. He won 6 races in a row including 3 grade 1's.
The question is whether he will be suited to an Arkle ? And will he be suited to an Arkle now given his profile of F5 in two starts over fences with ''no plans'' currently scheduled. It might be stating the obvious , but in terms of ante-post bets this one looks decidely iffy for supporters. |

sadly its just typical of the fool willie mullins. gets a top class horse who had problems and missed all last year and decides to bounce him out twice in the space of a fortnight in 2 grade 1's.

Looks like Zaidpour and Mikael D'Haguenet bounced after running so impressively just a couple of weeks earlier. They both looked like different horses the other day.
There are still 3 months left to the Festival would be amazed if both horses arent given a break by Mullins then brought back in time for the Festival all guns blazing as in their last but one runs. |

Why did Zaidpour bounce? Mullins was confident he'd win, he went off at a price that suggested he would win with ease. Is it entirely beyond the realms of possibility that he was just beaten by a novice of equal, or better, ability? Has perfect smile improved? Hidden Cyclone's no mug. FL is thought an awful lot of.
He 'bounced' is just a ridiculous excuse, he didn't come from a long lay off, Mullins was happy with him after his second win over hurdles. If he was good enough he would've won. |

When horses bounce it isn't expected otherwise they wouldn't be running. Perhaps Zaidpour did come up against decent types however Mikael was slaughtering Realt Dubh without being asked a question last time out, either he bounced or his jumping confidence was affected by his knuckle on landing though it didnt look a traumatic fall. To get 5th in the race the other day show how good he is when he wasnt half the horse we had seen the race before.
