Your position is disingenuous not because we disagree but because of the reasons I gave above re you not having a bet on him yet (apparently) despite your strong convictions.
By:
You would be lumping on at the 25s Spirit River today if you half believed what you are saying. The fact you havent means you arent revealing the downside of his chances on here.
By:
Dont say this often
but agree with Eric Morris here. If you believed Spirit River was an outstanding candidate for the Arkle you would have backed him long before he was due to run yesterday. On the day of any maiden/novice chase run the ante-post odds shorten in anticipation of the respected horse winning. Anyone who bets ante-post regularly knows this, so it's best to back a little earlier otherwise the odds disappear. |

Sorry, lads, just got in from celebrating Diamond Harry's great win as you'll see he was one of my best 3 bets of the day and my postings on Ante Post forum. Uncle, the point is that this is a forum for people to discuss racing not what they've read or heard but what they think of form. I'll back the horse when I'm ready but good luck with your voucher, I've already got the money in today.

Referring to Ghizao he has run over 2miles 4 times, 2m 1f 3 times and 2m 5f only once in which he had by far his worst position. 4 wins, 2 2nds and an 8th at around 2m is where his best form is. It is so obvious Ghizao is best at around 2 miles that previous posters are more hopeful he will be stepped up to avoid Finians imo. Totally strange comment to make when all the evidence is to the contrary and Nicholls has also declared him on target for the Arkle after the race.
By:
Ghizao had evidently come on for his first taste of fences here last month, when he finished second behind Kilmurry, who was the first one beaten this time. The winner was immediately made the new 8-1 favourite with Coral, Ladbrokes and Totesport for the Irish Independent Arkle Trophy after this win.
That race is now very much on the agenda according to Nicholls, who said: "The obvious race for him now would be the Henry VIII Novices' Chase at Sandown but I had not thought further than today. "Obviously the Arkle will now be a priority for him." Among the Nicholls-trained winners of this race was Azertyuiop in 2002, the last winner of this race to follow up in the Arkle, and it was his work with a current Nicholls' chasing star, dual Champion Chase winnerMaster Minded, that made the trainer think Ghizao would put in a good performance here. He added: "He worked brilliantly in the week with Master Minded, that was the best piece of work he has done and it made me think we were getting somewhere. We have always believed in him but he delivered today." |

booster god bless you as i am sure i am not in a minority in finding your postings highly amusing..where is that dictionary so i can check the definition of deluded....ANTE POST!!!!
By:
Perhaps I can help you. In my dictionary it means "anyone who goes round tipping the first and second favourites for the following year's Arkle in November". Let's face it, with punters taking that stance we'll always have bookies to take the money off if we keep our own opinions.
By:
you being slightly disingenuous there Booster. The punters on this thread who backed FR did so at the widely available 33/1. He was must have been 8th or 10th favourite at the time, but you know that!
By:
But I'm also talking about the same guy (Kirk) saying he fancies Ghizao on the back of a soft victory at Cheltenham. I've actually never started any of my threads with an insult or telling anyone they're wrong, just stating a cogent form case for my own fancy and against the other horses. I respect all other opinions as I've stated on several occasions and don't see the need to resort to name calling etc.
As we all know from our own personal cost, the markets for all races in March will look a lot different at that time and even I don't know who'll line up. |

I think Ken Pitterson knows all about this horse in the Weekender, to quote, "We will see how good he is when put under pressure". Got a good idea what he means, I think he's been watching last year's videos.
By:
if he was watching last years video he should of noticed the horse was running over a trip 5 furlongs to far for him.its like running equiano over 1m2f hes gonna weaken isint he.where if he watched him over 2m in a novice hurdle at newbury hed of seen the horse find plenty for pressure and running on strongly all the way to the line.as ive sed he might not win the arkle but at this current time he deserves to be the FAVOURITE
By:
Exactly right,no better 2m chase performance seen as yet imo
good points there. |
By:
Alvarado, the horse he beat (on his favoured flat track) was a 129 rated summer jumper of Barney Curley's who's done nothing since. On Thursday he did a similar thing.
It's impossible to quantify this or his Newbury Chase form but the fact remains that whenever he's run against top class horses he's been beaten. On form, I'd actually say that Ghizao's Chelteham performance was stronger with a host of top stables running horses in it. |
By:
Over 2m and half Hurdles, which i think we have determined was a tad too far for him.
Ghizao was a good performace as well,i happen to think FR was visually more impressive, and really the others in the race did not really matter. Ghizao,FR, both could win,so could a few others i expect, but at this stage either one, depending on opinion, deserves to be fav. |
By:
FR as I mentioned in a post after his debut has to be taken on trust to find a champions kick, you dont see horses winning Arkle's in 2nd gear as on his debut. Ghizao has shown a kick in a high quality race, easily the best Arkle trial so far and it is 2 races then Arkle for him. The horses in behind were quality and this is the key trial imo the winner is likely to come from this race.
By:
Booster, fwiw, im not entirely convinced FR is the Arkle winner in waiting, but as a backer at 33/1, you couldn't really ask for much more on his debut. That is the position a lot of people on this thread have .. a decent priced bet on something that is near favouritism for the race now. We know there are bigger tests ahead.
I agree re Ghizao, he was very impressive also, and won a stronger race. But this race has so much more to unearth yet. Plenty of up and downs to come imo. |
By:
Agreed, Sintonian. I'm not a Ghizao fan either, as I think he's a stayer based on his bumper form and breeding but thought that was stronger form but obviously a lot of water to flow under the bridge in the meantime, weather permitting.
By:
honestly can ghizao really win the arkle a horse who was average at best over hurdles rated in the 130s and even that was too high for him.then was beaten miles on his chase debut .and you can pick holes in his win last time where he beat a horse who couldnt breath(captain chris}a horse who hated the heavy ground{loosen my load}and the other two under performed badly {radium a kilmurry}i just really cant have ghizao and people dismissing finians rainbow cos he got beaten twice in grade 1s what about ghizao whowas some 60l behind finins in in the ballymore and who wasant even sighted in a hcap hurdle at aintree after that off a mark of 135
i personally thought finins achieved qute a lot first time out this season he beat hells bay miles and that horse was 2nd to time for rupert who had to work very hard to beat him and sang bleu was meant to be a star yet he was beaten a fence |
By:
Alvarado ... you obviously arent aware of this from Nicholls ..
"He was struggling with his breathing. He had an op in the summer which is why we were late starting him and why he needed the run last time. I've always believed in him and today he had to deliver and he has, thankfully." |
By:
I also said ages ago another big player could arrive on the scene. There are 3 outstanding candidates for me currently and Finian's is 4th that is without Irish horses included.

If Ghizao finishes in front on FR in the Arkle (if they both jump round) i'd be (a) shocked, (b) disappointed and (c) much worse off in my p & l account.

By:
If my Arkle selections are part of a 6 figure payout combi I will a) get a Stella from the fridge, b) put a Megan Fox movie on and c) shag the tv set.
By:
If those 2 are first and second, I'll give up gambling.
By:
he might off improved but for me hed go down as the worst arkle winner in living memory hes just a decent horse no more.even with his breathing now sorted can that make a 60L difference cos thats how far finins beat him in the ballymore over a trip 5f too far for him. and id love to know your 3 novice chasers in thios country who are ahead of finins rainbow
stop being bias against finnians eric and live in the real world finins deserves to be the fav |
By:
Eric, so what have you backed ?
By:
Alvarado, i'd just like to know from time to time what Eric actually bets on. I do wonder if he actually has the balls to say what he has bet on .. before the outcome.
People on here have made no secret of their bets on said horse, and it is the same on other horse for other races at Cheltenham. But the on consistent thing on those threads is Eric/Kirk Morris, who, whilst making points and arguing at the same time, does not actually say if he has backed anything. |
By:
Alvarado, to comment about Ghizao's chase debut in a negative fashion is absurd. He hacked all over Kilmurry, jumped superbly, and then was clearly knackered at the second last before being allowed to come home in his own time. I fully expected him to come on for that run as i said on a different thread, and other arkle threads. I am also a bit baffled that everyone is slating Ghizao but jumping on the FR bandwagon. I quite liked FR and SR but have backed neither as i wasnt sure which would go where, and can see why people like FR, but he didnt beat much in comparison to ghizao, and both jumped superbly.
By:
Albion Dan, as I said earlier in the thread, his form is probably the strongest around so far but neither wins an average Arkle for me. Ghizao a natural for the new Jewson Chase.
By:
Fair enough if you think that, all I am saying is so many people clambering over themselves after FR beats 2 others, whereas Ghizao hammered a lot of very fancied rivals over c&d and straight after people were saying 8/1 arkle fav?? and laughing.
Bouggler wins the jewson by the way ![]() |
