Master Minded is definitely not back to its best. In winning the VC by a sh from Sommersby, that is not QM winning form. Say what you like about the ride, which I thought was fine, that was not the MM from 08/09
Hurricane Fly again disposed of Solwit with the minimum of fuss. Will it be able to do the same in the CH? It certainly goes there with a big chance, but, imho, Binocular is still the one they all have to beat. |

Wishfull jumped like a stag for a novice. Could see the Whateley's having the winner of the opener on Thursday again to follow Copper Blue last year. |

Definitely think Wishful Thinking should go for one of the handicaps rather than the RSA. Maybe the William Hill on the first day against the seasoned horses (Bensalem, a novice, would have won it last year but for falling at the 2nd last

Agree ISLL. Grand Crus looks a serious, and the only,threat to Big Bucks.
All other "trials" were ok but cant really see any of yesterdays winners, GC aside, winning at the "Main Meet" |

Wishful Thinking will be handicapped out of a Cheltenham handicap after winning off 148 yesterday surely? Likely to be mid 150's and if they think he can win a handicap off that at Cheltenham (where you normally need about 8-10lbs in hand), they'd may as well go for the big prize money in the Ryanair!
Would imagine the new Jewson would be the target. |

Medermit is getting better with experience but I honestly think over a fast 2ml, it will not have the pace but will be staying on at the business end. I think it could get placed.
The Champion Hurdle is no clearer, in fact with Oscar Whisky strolling in, and Binocular workman like at best, it just adds to the confusion  |

I think I can safely say Mikael D'Haguenet will not be winning a novice chase at the festival.
Oscars Well looked very impressive and should, I think, be going for the Neptune. Finian's Rainbow will need to jump much better than yesterday just to get involved. The more I look at the Supreme, the more I think Cue Card looks NAP material. It has, by far and away, the best novice hurdle form on offer. I hope they stick to the novice route and dont get illusions that they could somehow win the Champion, cos they cant |

That Hey Big Spender's confidence was restored by his school around Cheltenham on New Year's Day and he showed at Warwick that there is a decent contest to be won with him. Will be an interesting one in the Racing Post Trophy at the end of the month.

^ that should be Racing Post Chase - HBS would be outpaced in Racing Post Trophy though obstacles would n't be a problem.

I wont be backing Dunguib but the second today makes his price look really decent value when compared with Hurrcane fly. Luska Lad 2 lengths behind H Fly off levels and today was 3 and a half behind with a 2lb pull on Dunguib.
On the face of that Dunguib isnt bad value. |

The Henderson horses are STILL on fire. Riverside Theatre is improving but will the Ryanair be to short and the GC to far? Nicholls misses Ruby. Persian Snow won't win the bumper Dunguib still retains all his ability. Will Mille Chief win the CH? Don't think so. Baby Run will be tough to beat when anyone tries to take away his Hunters crown. Nothing else really excited me. |

Back in Focus exciting I thought - with regard to next season and beyond, not just the Albert Bartlett at the Festival.
And of the two RSA trials was more impressed by Aiteen Thirtythree though was difficult to judge Master of the Hall given the opposition melted away a bit. |

Not seen HoJo quote (not that I'd take much notice of it!) but how can the horse be pure hype?
What more did you want him to do on Sat? A somersault at the furlong pole perhaps, followed by turning 180 degrees and reversing across the line? Need to see him again admittedly, and preferably on better ground, but don't see how he can be dismissed as 'pure hype' on the back of one impressive victory unless you're a narrow minded dogma merchant. |

What a Friend will not win the Gold Cup. Mille Chief unlikely to be good enough for the CH. Golden Silver should be spot on for the QM if he runs. Ericht probably the best bumper this side of the Irish Sea.

Nothing else to "learn" now. It's all been logged in the grey matter.
TUESDAY. Cue Card will win the Supreme. Finian's Rainbow in the Arkle but not confident. Binocular in the CH but again will need to be like last year, or better. L'Ami in the X country with it's low weight lol Heres one for you. La Veccia Scuola e-w in the Mares. Last seen over hurdles in the 08 Swinton off of 144. Has since improved 32lbs on the flat and 2nd in last years Ces. If it has improved even by 7lbs it will be in the places. 33s and it runs. WEDNESDAY. So Young in the Neptune. Time For Rupert in the RSA but the lack of experience is a concern. Big Zeb to retain his crown. THURSDAY. Kalahari King e-w in the Ryanair. Great festival record. Grand Crus to run away from BB. FRIDAY. A Media Luz for the Triumph, hopefully. Don't yet know about the GC but doubt I will bet any of the older brigade. Looking for a youngster. Maybe Long Run. Tanks For That in Nicky's dads race. Put away after it's good 2nd to Woolcombe Folly. GL all |
