I know you couldn't, after the results were in. Well done that man, he's a genius.

If I hadnt laid off it was 4k ... not a great move when I posted up my thoughts BEFORE the race on Menorah on here. I'll find it and post it up how I thought the race would go.

you cant fool fellow punters I'm afraid Eric.

Here we are lad. Now stop being a control freak with the forum people can post what they want especially when it gives punters the benefit of nearly 3 decades of antepost experience [:happy

Just hope the race is on. I do think the younger horses are the ones to follow for the big hurdle races this year. eric_morris Send message When: 28 Nov 10 11:41 What exactly has Menorah done wrong doing a Rooster Booster carrying 11st 12lb to victory in the Greatwood and has already won the Supreme? ..... eric_morris Send message When: 08 Dec 10 08:35 Menorah needs a fast pace and Silviniaco Conti should provide that. Sit in behind with Cue Card, Silv may not shake both off then when they quicken up Cue Card's hurdling under pressure is tested for the first time and he could easily make a mistake because if any horse can battle them out of it, it is Menorah. Menorah can make the odd mistake but he has proven he can recover from them whereas a novice hits one and the chances are they will lose their rhythm or reduce to empty very quickly in a high class race. ..... eric_morris Send message When: 11 Dec 10 10:18 Cue Card has beaten nothing of the order of what he is facing today and he just did what you'd expect last time against inferior opponents. Really surprised he is fav as there is no guarantees he is good enough to win this years Supreme yet and here he is up against last years excellent Supreme winner and battle-hardened Menorah. Silviniaco has the disadvantage of the drop back in trip but is arguably the biggest danger to Menorah here. eric_morris Send message When: 11 Dec 10 10:27 That was an amazing run by Menorah first time out, when the heads go down he is the last to be raising his ... Cue Card wont have met his like before. Menorah the biggest danger to Binocular the Champion Hurdle imo... does need a strong pace hopefully pacemaker today will do its job. |

You are right fellow punters fread the above BEFORE the race and are not fooled.

.. by you, you insecure weirdo.

Cue Card will not even run in the CH. It's got to be the Supreme. End of. Menorah was impressive but it won the way I thought it should. A Supreme/Greatwood winner in against novices? Not going overboard thou. 7-2 is far to tight for the CH.
Time for Rupert looked good, where as Reve de Sivola looked awful. The Master looked back to his imperious best, but again it won like the ratings told you it would. Did I hear that Wollcombe Folly posted a faster time than MM? Now that is impressive. Sam Winner again impressed but don't write of A Media Luz tho it NJH & BG will need to teach it to settle. It could be a price nto. |

that we have a new Gold Cup contender in Midnight Chase - don't think his form lines tie in with any of the others and he's still improving.
And that Nicholls still has more ammunition than anyone else - and has produced more masterful training to get Master Minded back to his best. |
|
By:
Cue Card could still be a champion, but must stick with the novice route this season.

Sintonian, I agree that Menorah was giving Bothy a lot of weight but I don't think that many people would have considered Bothy to be within 40lb of a CH winner. Now (if Menorah ran to the same mark) he must be rated only 28lb away. Don't forget that Menorah was only off 151 that day which is a long way from top class. Yesterday, Menorah beat 2 horses rated 160 and 159 easily so must be up to 165+ making Bothy worth about 138. I think that either Menorah has improved a lot in 3 weeks or the 2 behind him yesterday are over rated.

Medermit STILL won't win the Arkle.

Don't think they will run in that one Willie - reckon they will go for the 2.5 miler.

Reve you fluked a win on Friday son.
Time fpor Rupert could win the 2.5 miler then follow up with the RSA ![]() |
|
By:
i cant argue that it wasnt a fluke but he will improve[;)]. give him another few runs and rupert will get a good view of his rear end coming up the chelters hill
|
|
By:
time for rupert looks solid for the rsa imo
cue card should stay within the novice ranks this year and win the supreme midnight chase for the william hill imo wishfull thinking could be interesting for the arkle...strong run 2miles around cheltenham would suit more than the 2m 4f novice chase sam winner looks a good horse but pantxoa wasnt given a hard time of it and could be one to watch out for in the near future master minded looked like he is over last seasons blip and rightfully leads the queen mother betting as havent seen a better horse over 2miles this year....shame i missed the fancy prices :s any given day....hmmm coral cup maybe.??? |

Nothing over the weekend but during the week at fairyhouse, Zaidpour looked very good. Which race will be it's target? I would prefer the Supreme (on at 12s)but connections may get scared off by Cue card.
Hurricane Fly swatted away Solwit and, if WM can keep it right, it will be a major player in the CH. |
|
By:
Dont think they'd be scared of anything tbh Willie
|
|

That snow is an absolute bollokache!

Next December they will run the vote Jessica Ennis Gold Cup at Cheltenham!!
Seemed to do the trick for AP!! |
|
By:
I agree with you Sint - I don't think they will be frightened off by Cue Card.
Quite odd really, at the end of last season, the 4yo were given a hard time; probably quite right too as their championship races weren't perhaps "vintage" renewals. Now we have (in no particular order) Cue Card, Clerks Choice, Silvianaco Conti and Zaidpour. |
|
By:
Racing again. Yipeeeeeeeeeeeee. Super stuff yesterday and very informative. Well at Leopardstown.
It looks like Zaidpour will need further so my Supreme AP looks doomed. Big Zeb was fantastic and jumped like an old pro. Along with MM, they have the Champion Chase between them. Hurricane Fly also looked good but, imho, he won like he should have. Everything was in his favour today so there was no reason to think Solwit could beat him. The Champion Hurdle is shaping up to be the race of the festival. Ghizao for the Arkle? Still not convinced. It's a pity we could not see this meeting as we need to know how they were jumping. The Sam Winner form was well franked by Grandouet sauntering home. Doubt if Punchestowns can win a GC, but hopefully Pride of Dulcote can as I'm on at 3 figures ![]() Finally to the star of the NH season. Big Bucks only has to turn up fit and well to take his 3rd World Hurdle. He is simply in a different league to all staying hurdlers. |
|
By:
Agree about Ghizao - I'm not sure the Arkle looks a particularly strong race as things stand - may yet be contenders who have n't shown their hand.
Big Zeb - penny finally dropped, he's very good is n't he? Reckon he may well have the beating of Master Minded come March. |

Oscar Whisky
![]() Arkle looks the worst ever |
|
By:
Oscar Whisky going Welsh Champion Hurdle at the owners Ffos Las on February 5th looks a v good bet for that.
|
|
By:
Gotta a feeling Oscar Whiskey could end up running in the County Hurdle which he is fav for.
|
|
By:
you avin a laugh Eric??
Jockey said he is a definite CH horse yesterday, connections would be mad not to have a go.Big chance. |
|
By:
Think after defeat in the CHurdle they may be tempted to take the County Hurdle in. He beat a lot of slowish horses yesterday, Karabak would be miles behind in a Champion Hurdle and dropping back to 2m Oscar may fall short for pace. Welsh Champion a v good chance but when in with the best he is likely to need yesterdays trip which he loved.
|
|
By:
the jockey knows whats needed for a CH horse, and he was adamant he is a CH horse.
May have beaten stayers, but that was a p!ss take yesterday!! Ffos Las will tell us more.I have a feeling he will have whats needed to be top class over 2m,but accept the jurys out till he produces over that distance at the level required.. |
|
By:
You cant fall into the easy trap of declaring Oscar a Champion Hurdle horse because he impressed against staying types over this trip when there is evidence there is better. If he had won the Supreme or Triumph you might have some evidence of that but instead you have a horse who already beat him comfortably in the Supreme looking in top shape beating better horses than yesterday over the near CHurdle course and trip.
|
|
By:
Eric,Geraghty said he is a CH horse yesterday,i just thought he may be before yesterday.
I aint getting carried away, you are correct that he beat horses that wont be near a CH,but the jockeys confidence and the visual impression gives me reason to think i may be right. Yes i agree he has not got the form of some of them over the CH distance, but thats why i got 80 odd for him!! I keep mentioning improvement and none of us have any idea how much their is in him or any of the supreme horses,or Peddlers. We have to use some imigination, try to work it out,and not just by looking at the formbook. |
|
By:
I'm the last person to rely on the formbook to find future Champions and jockeys opinions of their owm rides (which can relate to how much they want the ride in some cases rather than the horses real prospects), also you need to make a percentage call on information available and not have your view affected by having 80s on him.
|
|
By:
Eric i mentioned the price in relation to the unknowns about him,it has nothing to do with my views on the horse,i regard that as an insult to suggest that cos i have a big price its clouding my judgement.
I watched the supreme a fair few times and decided he was a tad unlucky in running, and looked to have potential, thats all.I then looked his price at the time and decided it was worth a small punt. I have seen nothing to suggest i did not do the right thing,in fact i am glad i did after watching him yesterday.i am under no illusion that he will win the CH based on his run yesterday, all i have is a horse that is a lot shorter now then he was,no more than that. I do like what Geraghty said about him though, although appreciate that jockeys can get a tad carried away,i think BG is pretty genuine though. |
|
By:
stable don't have Punjabi or Zaynar for the race this year (s'pose they could enter Zaynar but it would be futile) - Gearaghty is used to being on one that is competitive for Henderson even though McCoy rides Binocular. Geraghty obviously wants to ride OW in the race - seems a quite straightforward decision to have a crack for me, though yesterday did n't seem like much of a CH trial to me given distance and protagonists.
|
|
By:
fair point about the Welsh Champion Hurdle telling us more, budd - wonder how strong the opposition will be thee though?
|
|
By:
well Rease,i think we have got used to having the CH without many clues.seems to be the thing now for fancied horses not to face each other much before March!! OW probably wont have any decent opposition, but maybe something will run that will give us a guide.

I learnt that my life changing antepost double on Finnians Rainbow and Bishopsfurze is now just that - a dream.
Bishopsfurze jumped like he was blindfolded ffs ![]() |

Plenty of thoughts re Oscar Whiskey and you can look at it 2 ways.
1st, it was only 4L behind Menorah last year in the Supreme, one of the favs for the race, so on that form it deserves to be there. 2nd, beating Karabak, Celestial Halo etc is not, imho, CH winning form. I bet it yesterday and, not taking in what the jock said, I would go for the CH cos where else will it go after it wins the Welsh equivilent for the owners. To much weight for the County. |
