Thought China Rock ran a great race yesterday and is a live place bet for the Gold Cup
jumps really well and if he had been held up instead of making the pace from a mile out would have easily maintained form with Sizing europe imo. Think the Gold Cup is open this year just finding the young improving chaser that could step up on form and trip now |

The Sawyer, not sure how to answer your question. I will ask Philip if I see him but I suspect that they are all really fit and well and keen to go first time out. I agree that Wishfull Thinking pulled too hard and I hope he settles next time. Nearby takes a good hold but it doesn't seem to affect him. Voramar Bay settled well but made a noise from 4 out, Belcantista finished lame again so excuses for yesterdays poor efforts.

Cue card was MIGHTY impressive. But lets not get carried away by saying "lets go for the Champion" It's the same every year. Dunguib was well touted for the CH last season and could not win the Supreme. Stick to the novice route.
Was also taken by Time for Rupert although I think the rain came just in time. |

Long Run "may" prove to be the real deal but as long as SWC does the steering, it wont.
Message to the Waley Cohen's. Let Barry do the job and at least you will find out if the horse is the superstar we all think he can be. |

I struggle to see Long Run ever winning a Gold Cup. King George some day, but I'll give up the game if he beats Kauto on merit at Kempton this Christmas.
Cue Card has made any antepost beeting in the Supreme or Neptune impossible. No ap bets in those races at all for me. |

The Nicholls winner of the Triumph trial could be anything. He looked a future Gold Cup horse to me! Not sure I'd back him in a Triumph, but I saw him close up and he was an absolute picture. Without doubt a chaser in the making. |

How do we know the Supreme was a good one where the field today was basically all last seasons novices?
No form yet with Binocular, Hurricane Fly, Go Native, Solwhit or Khyber Kim. Well there was Dunguib being mullered by HF & Solwhit at Punchestown. |

i think the ground beat the front two^.
from what i saw; menorah is not flashy but very genuine, hasnt faced anything that has got him flustered yet, very nice horse. ghizao, imv, will get a lot further than two miles, and was very impressive. jumps and stays 155+. |

I wouldn't jump to any conclusions, forpady was on and off the bridle all race and it's hard to draw conclusions from a fto race like that. Also forpady is destined for further than 2m this season.
It will be interesting when Captain Cee Bee takes on Big Zeb at Christmas. |

the first time out business is tricky i know but i think that gauvain being off for 570 days surely has more of a shout for that than anything else. hard to know but 25s seems very generous to me

rubbish race for the grade and it stayed on best and didnt jump too well. enough said regarding winning a grade one on likely faster ground.

Think the Gauvain performance may be a one off (often happens after these long breaks), For Pady beat him in the Arkle so you would have to say unless Gauvain has improved massively for his 570 day lay off the form will probably be turned round - Tataniano was disappointing even considering the weights

Big Zeb is hardly going to be quaking in his boots now is he? Especially given how he has got rid of his concentration problems and his jumping is excellent.

CV,give Menorah a break mate,that was a good performance off top weight and imo proves he was a good supreme winner,certainly not a bad one !!.No form with the top horses as yet of course,but will soon and then we will know for definite whether he is a candidate.
As for Dunguib - chalk and cheese with Menorah,ones a hurdler the other aint!! Yes he was 3rd in the supreme,but i would be surprised if he ever got near to Menorah in the future.That was impressive yesterday,and he has the qualities needed for a Champion Hurdler,just a case now of seeing if he is good enough. |

Fri: Was all about Cue card. Was visually impressive but lets not over hype please.
Sat: Sam Winner was again visually impressive. Don't think we seen the RSA winner in Wayward Prince. Who knows how good Little Josh is. It was only 2ys ago the Imperial Commander won the same race with a similar profile. Most of the chat was how Long Run either under performed or is not as good as he was hyped but the winner was impressive. Jumped for fun and stayed. Sun: Ghizao for the Arkle? Possibly but I think there will be speedier types. Gauvain will "Bounce" so leave well alone nto. Menorah did it well. As been posted b4, he's not a bridle horse but he knuckles down and gets the job down so he will likely keep improving. You could have worse bets. Aiden for X Fac.DOH  |

willie, dont think gauvain will bounce. for non stop hasnt yet and i know hes only had 2 runs for nick but i just dont see it. nick said he was hoping for a place at best in anticipation of the likely improvement. i think hes going to come on for the run to be honest

It was bud, it was a very good performance. But you see my point that we still don't have form lines yet with last years champion hurdle horses. So really 7/1 quotes are a bit short. But of last seasons novices he is certainly the best. We shall see how he gets on with Binocular at Kempton at Christmas.
But you fair play anyway for spotting this guy early. I remember you had him ap for the Supreme during the Dunguib hype. Have you anything on for the Champion? I've only 3 bets so far, Hurricane Fly (of course) @ 12/1 and took a bit Go Native and Solwhit at big prices on here last month. Personally I'm hoping Menorah runs very well at Kempton and I'll have a nibble on Dunguib then. He'll be totally forgotten as he won't be seen until the new year. If his intense scholling can fix his hurdling then his Supreme 3rd will look like very good form. It all depends on Menorah. For what it's worth I've nothing against Menorah, I had him in both the Supreme and on Sunday. Though neither were my main bets (Dunguib and General Miller respectively). |

Agree 7's is way too short,still has to prove hes up to that level.Not on Menorah,did think about it few weeks back but left it,wish i had now!! Have Peddlers Cross at 24,thought he was the most likely novice to come through,and really impressed with him last season,Menorah is obviously looking a possible for best novice as well,but have missed the price.No other bets as yet.Think Binocular will be hard to beat,and H Fly is the main threat if he can stay sound.Go Native could be the forgotten horse,and i will probably have a go on him before he runs,dont fancy Solwhit at all over 2m,unless real soft ground,Binocular and the Fly would be too quick for him imo.
