I don't think Solwhit is going to Cheltenham. From what I've been reading in the papers over here. The syndicate who own him are people who want the prize money hence his 6 runs a season. They will skip Cheltenham and focus on Aintree and Punchestown like they did last year to great effect. I just felt he was over priced on here.
As for Go Native, he got injured in the Champion hurdle at the 3rd fence when going off fav. If he gets back to last seasons form the 30's I got will be a steal. Hurricane Fly as you know is a horse I love to bits. A full season behind him and he can fulfil his potential. He's never had the chance to get a run into him and progress, always a run and a setback. It's good to see he's going for the Hattons Grade over 2m4f fto. Shows he must have stamina which he'll need for the hill. But if Binocular turns up in the form he was this year it'll need something special to beat him and only Hurricane Fly has shown that big of magic that gives him a shout. Maybe Go Native if he can cruise through the race like he did in his runs last year. But HF is just so slick and classy over his hurdles and travels like an absolute dream. Speical horse there, I know it. |

i was very impressed by hurricane fly at punchestown at the end of last season. wont back him antepost, assume he will be ok but has had injuries. if hes there in good form then i think hes gonna be the 1 t beat

I hope Binocular has poor runs at Newcastle and Kempton so he drifts and I can get him at a backable price. He is the only horse I believe could be more talented than Hurricane Fly. I want them head to head in the Champion though, hurdling division needs it.

yeah. its always a good race. last year i felt that only a couple could be confidantly ruled out. to think that the likes of solwhit and khyber kim are probably no good enuf is almost unbelievable

Cue Card was not only visually impressive but ratings wise too. Absolutely slammed some decent tools on the day.
3/1 for the Supreme doesn't attract me - forget the form / potential competition. There's 'will he stay fit and well' and 'will connections get dopey ideas about the Champion Hurdle / Neptune' to think about. But I haven't heard anything I disagree with yet or that I thought was 'overhyping'. Thought Time For Rupert was impressive on Friday too |

Dunraven Storm ran well enough behind Cue Card to suggest he might be interesting for the Neptune, or even the SN if connections decide to go that route, if he doesn't have to face Cue Card again.
Cue Card looks freakishly good, in a way I haven't seen in a NH horse for years and years, almost back to Golden Cygnet in fact. That is purely a visual impression. He still has it all to prove, not least whether his turn of foot will be good enough to see off the opposition over two miles at top level on genuine spring ground at the major festivals. I feel there has been an over-reaction in the Champion Chase market to Tataniano's defeat. He did enough to relieve some of the doubts I had about whether he would need a flat track to be at his best in good open company. On better ground, he remains an interesting one for the CC, I feel. |

Wayward Prince confirmed my view that Wymott is the best staying novice around. Wymott laughed at WP over hurdles and is a better jumper of fences. If the hurdle form is right, Wymott would have won the Cheltenham race by 12 lengths and should now be clear fav for the Sun Alliance Chase.

Chicago grey would have the beating of both of them if you are going on a strict line of form as surely would have beaten Way P by more than a length giving him weight

i'm confident that wayward prince would have beaten chicago grey. he fell, probably because he was tired, and after the fence the winner had nothing to go with, idled and drifted and then went on nicely in the end.

Lacdoudal jumped for fun, relished the contest and looked like he was offended whenever challenged for the lead. Not the biggest and rising 12 so s'pose thinking about the National is stretching the point but at least one more staying handicap in him over and above the cross country races.

That Imperial Commander may be 10 in March but has only a few miles on the clock and god willing has a great chance in March.

I would like to see Masterminded again before I believe he's back to his best. Although Albertas Run was just starting to be pushed along, he usually keeps finding for pressure (well at least he did at Cheltenham & Aintree this year). I think it would have been a close finish.

Albertas Run now needs 3 miles over fences as I said after the Old Roan Chase. He won an RSA Chase 3 years ago and improvement could be there once he encounters his favourite conditions in March.

Both Silviniano Conti and Woolcombe Folly recorded fast times yesterday and won comfortably. The latter was first time out so all the more creditable. 2 seconds better than Master Minded compared to standard and carried 2 lb more. He probably ran to 160 so not that far off an average QM contender.

Cannot see why that race yesterday showed that Albertas Run needs 3 miles.MM on his day is different class to him.2m and a half on decent ground is perfect for AR at Cheltenham,as showed last march.The sun alliance that he won was a weak race,and the only time he ran in the GC he was well beaten.HE stays 3m on a flat track but he would not be good enough to beat KS at Kempton imo,and he would not get near IC at Cheltenham.So he should be trained with the Ryannair in mind if they want to give him the best chance of victory in March imo.

As for Masterminded,well it looks like he is back to the sort of form he is capable of,should be in for a cracking Tingle Creek,and the QM with Big Zeb should be something to look forward to as well.

Master Minded looks to be getting very low at his fences. I wouldn't be taking short odds about him

That Paddy Brennan was talking Bovine excre ment when he said he switched the Commander off. He never stopped punching from three out.

Had a very hard race, will be amazed if they run him in the KG. Has flopped in the past because of the short time between races.

He was getting low Steeple but blimey was he flying them. Proper pinging them, a delight to watch.

Pearlysteps didn't exactly boost Wymott but he still ran well. Golan Way really surprised me as he does not look a typical chaser. He could take some beating in novice chases over 2.5 miles. Woolcombe Folly impressed me most of any horses this weekend.

I think Zaynar is another "hype" horse. You never get 2 races the same. Cant win at Kelso the runs 3rd in the Champion then another stinker at Aintree. Time to leave well alone.
Master Minded looked good but be careful as the only possible danger, AR, fell which made MMs task a whole lot easier. Imperial Commander again showed he is the one they all have to beat come GC day. Finally, is Cue card as good as all the hype now that Dunraven has badly let the form down? |

Off topic but why is it considered a negative if a horse gets low at fences?
Providing it's not clouting them, then getting low is the most efficient way of getting from one side to the other. |
