I dunno, I'm just against Ghizao at this stage since I don't rate a thing he's beaten and there is big value to be had elsewhere. Tatenen was the same two seasons ago. Nicholls horse that wasn't much over hurdles winning races against none of the opposition he'll face in march. He just can't be touched at 6/1.
Finian's Rainbow would appeal more given his hurdling form. Still there is plenty of horses yet to run over fences yet who have high hurdling marks. I just don't like Ghizao on what he's done. Arkle winners don't drop out of the sky like that. They usually have top hurdling form from the previous season. |
By:
I also think too much is being made of TJMs comparison to Well Chief. WC came second in the Triumph hurdle before his chasing campaign. A different class altogether imo.
By:
cv what horses do you think could be decent arkle horses that haven't ran yet?
By:
Cristal Bonus was going to run today but bangor was off. His hurdling form from the bula and in france is good. Also Flat Out runs tomorrow, his supreme 5th behind Menorah and Oscar Whiskey looks very good hurdling form. Both big prices if you wantthem. Both far better hurdling form than Ghizao.
By:
Alot of horses have better hurdle form that Ghizao I can see but.... are their chase form better??? No!
By:
They haven't run over fences yet, so no they have no chase form yet.
Arkle winners almost always have good hurdling form. It's a big trends race. |
By:
My take on Ghizao's hurdling form is that it isnt that bad. A good second behind General Miller who is very smart, then he travelled up well in the Neptune before flattening out. I dont think he stayed (as well as the others) and if he had a breathing problem this would have massively hindered him. He has obviously improved for fences, and also can now breath.
By:
I think that horses like Cristal Bonus etc.will not have enough experience of jumping fences at racing speed come the big meeting.Ghizao has won over the Cheltenham fences. At Newbury he beat Capt.Chris, who had a wind op,(the Hobbs people rate him highly). To be honest I think Capt.Chris needs top of the ground to be seen at his best and if getting his ground in the Arkle could improve on what he has achieved so far.Whether it will be enough I dont know.

anyone got the hudles ratings for the horses at the top of the betting plse?u usually need to have been rated 140plus to win an arkle.
vpu wasnt tho |
By:
come on Flat Out - lay down a marker son. Let's get this race moving
By:
hmm, jumped well, bar over jumping the last. beat trees (at least the 2nd fav came 2nd)
more to come, let's see where he turns up next. |
By:
Very very impressed with Flat Out, jumped great I thought...
By:
must be a contender i would think, jumped well apart from the last, hard to say how good that was,but the main thing is he proved he can jump a fence.
By:
Yep, measured them perfectly in the main. The last was just novicey and a lot would probably have toppled over and to his credit found a leg and never really looked like coming down, a good sign. Think 20's is still on the large side for the Arkle? Took quite a hold as well..
By:
Yeah bud his fencing was impressive bar the last. That's what I wanted. We know he has talent given he came 5th in the Supreme, a race which is looking a very good renewal.
Surely too talented to go for the 2m4f race? |
By:
Also must say I don't like his head carriage
By:
well hes another Mullins ? aint he. You would know better than me i guess, what do you think? Supreme form strictly, i would think Arkle, but that was 2m4 today.has a few others for the 3 novice chase races, god knows where they will all end up!!
By:
Flat Out has not chance in the Arkle. Trust me!
By:
Good luck with your 1/20 chance Mayweather.
By:
I think Ghizao was double figures when I backed him. Rhinestone, you are thick!
By:
I appear to have already backed Ghizao at big double figures. I prefer Flat Out however....but yes i'm 'thick'.
Back Your Odds Your Stake Your Profit Ghizao 42 £10.01 £410.41 Ref: Bet matched: 44 £1.99 £85.57 Ref: Bet matched: 60 £11.00 £649.00 |

By:
Mayweather will you please f**k off. We know you think Ghizao is Pegasus. But we want to discuss other horses bar him so if you don't mind, shut up. You are clearly a clueless fav backer. Nicholls follower.
budd, I have a feeling I'm gonna hate this 2m4f race as I'm a big antepost player. Some of my Arkle and RSA bets will end up going for it. As for Flat Out, PaddyP go 10/1 for the Arkle!? They know? You need to stay 2m4f to win an Arkle too. |
By:
CVByre - you f**k off! I didn't say Ghizao is Pegasus. I said he is good enough to win the Arkle, duh!
Big Bucks is Pegasus, get him beat in March and I will retire from this site, otherwise I won't and be here forever!!!! :-) |
By:
well it makes sense to me to go Arkle, the Supreme is working out really well, and horse deserves the better race imo
By:
Yeah Mullins is going to have enough novice chasers to have more than one runner in the Arkle. Mikael and Flat Out would be ideal. Horses who stay 2m4f and had good hurdling form.
Pity poor Foinneagas died, he would probably have ended up in the 2m4f race. |
By:
has to run in the arkle for me,they know hes quick enough and now they know he can stay a bit firther than 2m.
By:
heres hoping big bucks gets beat in march.
By:
Brooksielad - when Big Bucks wins in March I will tip my bottle of champers over ya, silly clown!
By:
After looking through the race I can find only one horse to take on the front few in the betting. Trying to find out his plans before I back him.

By:
Is Thousand Stars definitely not running?
WM wanted to go chasing but decided to have another crack at hurdling before making a decision. Has run twice and I had hoped he may switch to chasing now. Has just about the best hurdles form and apparently jumps well at home. I know it is late but both Champleve and Well Chief never ran in a chase before Feb of the year they won. |
By:
brigust its def not to late this year hardly any in the market have actually jumped a fence outwith the front few.
By:
No it's not too late, I just doubt Mullins wants 3 runners in the Arkle. We'll see, if the horse is going chasing then he will be running in the next few weeks.
By:
Hoping Mikael will be at the Festival, not getting good signs from either Arkle or RSA markets. Especially strange in the latter where he surely would have won a Grade 1 first time out if Townsend had got it right against the 2nd fav for the RSA. Anyone care to ask Mullins what is going on here.
By:
A couple of lowish grade races like Flat Out last time would do his confidence a lot of good ...
By:
FFS! JUST LISTEN PEOPLE! I LKIKED MIKEAL D'HAGUENET LOADS BUT HE HAS GONE! JUST FORGET HIM NOW, HE ISN'T THE SAME HORSE ANYMORE. HE WAS A SUPER TALENT BUT NOT ANYMORE, FORGET HIM! HE WILL NOT EVEN RUN AT THE FESTIVAL ALONE WIN.
By:
the past few years the arkle winner has been won by one of the previous years highest rated hurdlers
this year the highest rated could be medermit got beat off hells bay over 2m 5f and his recent form has to be questionable bot imo 2m sut him better and all his bet form is over 2m and alan king knows what it takes to win the race |
By:
Medermit has a big chance.
By:
Not on what i have seen so far with his jumping.
By:
LOL - BUDDELIEA, MEDERMIT HAS A CHANCE SO BE QUIET YOU WALLY.
By:
TIDAL BAY COULD NOT JUMP BUT IT STILL WON THE ARKLE YOU WALLY!
