Fk that. Get back to Moonee Valley. The absolute death knell, leaving it.

By:
pretty sure that is the whole purpose of the wildcards. to give the best previously performed horses a chance to go through if they don't qualify. Not for the next best runs in the heats.

By:
Franco Nelson had a lot more chance of winning the final with the right run than CB.
Why do you think it had to go to GD to win the SA Cup against Smoken Up who's eligible for a retirement home. Had every possible chance in the Ballarat Cup and still couldn't win it, had to laugh when Adam was saying how good its run was that night. Wartime sweetheart's going to add a lot to the final isn't it. How Vic gets three placegetters automatically is another mystery for the ages. If they must have this joke of a format NZ 1,2 WA 1,2 NSW 1,2 Vic 1,2 Qld preferably no heat but if not winner only and however many wildcards required to fill the field based principally upon respective heat performances and depending upon whether they want horses that are just making up the numbers or ones that legitimately have a winning hope. |
By:
HRNSWs strategy, set up heats so that top horse from each state gets into final, any horse that doesn't qualify gets an invite anyway if HRNSW deem them worthy... Oh sh!t we've made another Miracle Mile

By:
Bacchus Marsh to hold ID15
Gaita can have what ever horse she wants in and no Swabs Maltese get Automatic 5 entries rest will be decided on looks or how good the strapper looks. |
By:
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() LE, you obviously don't understand the form. CB sits third on the Grand Circuit. Clear by your post you don't know the horse. Ballarat Cup was, beaten a lip in the Hunter Cup, runs second in the Vic Cup after sitting 3 wide no cover for over a lap, and you don't want him in a 14 horse field. Stick to the gallops |
By:
*Ballarat Cup was great

By:
the gold ace sprints for all of 400m if that and gets a wild card ahead of Franco Nelson but then again if McCarthy doesn't have multiple runners who's going to work for him to set the race up. You're not seriously going to argue that The Gold Ace was a better run than Franco Nelson in its heat.
By:
John Tapp has lodged a protest why Charoit King never got a run.
Stewards have decided to give him benefit of the Doubt that horse will improve in 2 weeks so instead of Wild Card the Gold Card Gold Card gives him pick of draw he wants |
By:
The Gold Ace went 5 seconds quicker than Franco Nelson, but you wouldn't know that would you. That's right, 5 seconds!!!!
Like I say there is only one person in the southern hemisphere that has Franco Nelson in |
By:
stupid farking wild cards reward mediocrity, they got beaten on the night who cares what they did last week
I think those times were incorrect AD, clock didn't work |
By:
Hope Terror to Love turns up and draw the pole, one less to worry about that will be in the market unless someone has told him how to travel with the horse in between now and its previous trips here. Not questioning the horse's ability just the trainer's ability to travel to austrlia with it and get the horse to perform to something like its true ability.
By:
Are they using one of those Kiwi clocks where everything goes 1:52?
By:
Now on not serious note
Beutide still my 1st pick. I'm Victorious has claims if can travel. Carrabean Blaster Restrepo Terror To Love In that order Smoky is Keyang Cullan if draws good. Why can't it be Steamer. I nearly pulled of another Blacks a Fake bet. |
By:
Must use the same method as IV trainer, 300 excuses whenever it races over here
By:
I know the horse very well, good horse but not a great horse, my argument is more with Vic getting an automatic 3 placegetters which is a joke in itself. Franco Nelson still on the up, carribean blaster isn't going to get much better, the old points format was vastly superior and as I said earlier a true test of a trainers ability to both qualify a horse and then peak it for the final.
By:
I think most of us agree the old system is the way we want it, but unfortunately it is no longer there. But to suggest one of the best three horses of this season should not be there is lunacy.
By:
As for uncles ridiculous comment (pull the other one Uncle) yeah wartime sweetheart beat home victorious because that imbecile justin prentice drove straight into the back of restrepo (I think) and could have severely injured the horse (fortunately he didn't) when it nearly fell and broke badly as a result at the top of the straight in the vic cup when it was absolutely bolting and would have definitely run a place with a clear run and may have even made it interesting with the winner.
By:
Just watched Gold Ace's run again it was pisss weak I was generous when I said it sprinted for 400m probably closer to 350m.
By:
No problem victorious travelling I wouldn't think, chariots run was huge when that imbo gave it zero hope and should have gone close in the vic cup, disappointing in the miracle mile but probably not ideally suited to that particular event at this stage of its career, competent driver now gives it a chance with the right run.
By:
Haha thought you'd like that one LE
By:
Can i finds Fields anywere?

By:
cb gets carted up and then works for say another 250m to find the breeze after a quick lead time which it hasn't been involved in, it then sits in the death in quarters of 29.5, 28.7, 27.5 and 27.5 for 2240m (the shortest of all the heats battling on well to just hold out slugs in im corzin terror and smudge bromac. Not a bad run, deserves a start, forget abbettorpunt went around, 3w for at least the last lap in those sectionals gives it no hope, Wartime sweetheart has a charmed run throughout and never leaves the pegs and because vic has three placegetters it gets a start ahead of Franco Nelson, there's something seriously wrong when that happens, one's a winning chance with luck (Franco Nelson)and the other couldn't win if it was fired out of a cannon.
Beautide when you examine the times was huge, bet there's not one question asked about Binskin's tactics on Gaius caesar why with the tempo they were going already was he still eager to attempt to pressure Beautide? I didn't know they had gone that quick, no wonder it got run down. Beautide, Victorious and Smolda for me depending upon draws and prices. Hope connections of forever gold tells them Dumensy to stick his blackmail up his arsse and run it in the ladyship cup, a race it can win with the right run whereas it couldn't win an inters in this field barring something completely freakish occurring i.e. 3/4 of the field being knocked out of the race or something similar. |
By:
yeah I wasn't falling for that one uncle I was on it for a good result too at the good odds, thank goodness they finally sacked Prentice.
By:
Yes I hadn't seen the times at that stage but give Gold ace the same run as Franco Nelson and vice versa and see where they finish respectively, Franco Nelson wins and the gold ace finishes nowhere. Gold ace was very weak had the race presented to it on a platter and still couldn't get the job done. Showed yet it still has thatyellow streak running down its back the gold ace

Aussie,
Pub Blitz may make the Final is 2nd in line. Lets you can get 50-1 Franco horse with no Deductions, All it needs is Forever Gold to pull out. Franco may of got a Run if Stayed in NZ and ran 3rd. Serious what was Jodie doing on Savesometimetodream tonight? Also Gav may of gone a Bit Early or was just trying to get CB out of Final so Good tactics that never paid off. Great Drive by Craven, just wanted to Qualify but worked out perfect 10/10 drive |
By:
Just so disappointed to see the Inters series reduced to this farcical situation, I have so many great memories from the heats alone, Riverlea Jack amazing midrace last to first sprint in the space of the old GP straight in a heat, Quinnies amazing last night heat win at GP, Timer annihilating them on the opening night of the inters at Globe etc, etc.

By:
lloydy what happened to steamer? I haven't seen anything about it, then again I wasn't looking for it either.

Slight Injury.
Tried to get it right, ran out of time. Was a Huge chance to win. Lets. Iv been all over Aus and NZ for Inters and loved them. Funny you mention Rivelea Jack, he was Airbourne that series. My Mate Adam worked for Mcclean they had an Awesome stable. My Best Win was Blacks a Fake at 40-1 and was when Betfair Forum 1st started i was telling the World about Blacks a Fake and just keep pouring the money on. He lost M0 at Valley then got beat Yarra Glen Cup. Odds kept Drifting but i kept backing. Never Layed off 1c or backed another horse. Tonight was embarrassing for ID they tried and have failed. Perth did one of the best ways by raffling off the Sponser. Think they all put in 5k everybody that entered got something but Winner got all signs and Race named. He im happy to go Globe Derby for Inter |

Under the old system Seel and Print and wartime sweetheart and forever gold, living ontheinterest would have to put in another two very solid performances to be guaranteed a start this where the current system falls down and judging by the way the gold cat went tonight after having the race set up for it, it would have to have everything go right to qualify, you'r rewarding mediocrity based upon barrier draw and luck in running under this system. Now you have have at least three horses if not more who won't be remotely competitive.
NSW should have one heat the same as everyone else all heats except qld have 1,2 qualify and then the rest are wild cards. |
By:
Also Why run heats at Short Distance.
Should be same as Final |
By:
Lets,
The Gold Ace does have Runs on the Board so you are Banging Head against wall. Franco is still young and Maturing he has only won 200k compared to The Gold Ace 1mill Next year. He still looks like he will get in so you can get on at 50s. Its a Shambles but they will never agree. Suprprised David Hercules not in Emergencies. Was a Shocker of a drive. He could of pushed off at the start as there looked a good Gap and Death horse may of allowed. Have to watch replay |
By:
He ran 2nd But Restrepo was a pretty Serious Run.
Can win Final. Savesometimetodream WTF |
By:
Total lack of understanding of the horse and of current GP racing and conditions is why it wasn't an emergency plus usual ES bias lloydy is why David Hercules wasn't listed as an emergency. Hokonui went good from last, give it the same run as livingontheinterest and I know what wins, victorious good but not great, although it did work a bit to find the breeze initially took it roughly nearly 500m to get there before easing for the sit, still below its very best but they may have been leaving something in the tank fitness wise for the final. It will need luck and a good drive but can be competitive, think it will be much better horse next year for the experience of having to tough it out at this level this season. It hasn't had a lot go right in its prep and I've no doubt that it would have been a bit sore and sorry for itself after the Vic Cup, it then puts in a terrific effort to win the Fremantle cup and then drags a flat tyre for 2700m of the 2900m Pacing Cup, hardly an ideal situation. Gold Ace may have the runs on the board at the lesser cups levels but I know which horse I would rather own Franco Nelson looks to have plenty of upside and and should continue to improve, don't know if you can say the same for the gold ace.
I couldn't agree more with you about the distances, how you can have heats run over 2138m & 2240m when other heats are run over at least 2400m is just another example of this bizzarro inter dominion concept. Distances have to be uniform or as close to uniform as possible. |
By:
CB was the only horse driven with any initiative and put into the race when they were walking midrace 30.6, 29.8 first half after having gone hard early in the Vic Cup because for god sake they were too scared to rush up and take the breeze off Smoken Up after it had already done plenty, it couldn't have possibly sprinted with those horses at this stage of it's career when not on the pegs especially after working like that and was gone at the 450m when Cb got to 2nd one off the fence and Keyang steamer later went past Smoken Up like it was tied to the fence soon afterwards after sitting outside it when it lead in the Horsham cup I think it was. Total lack of initiative from the drivers of Christen Me and Beautide on that occasion so yes CB went good but it got up there easy before they sprinted if it hadn't run a place you would have been disappointed and arguably was a better run than the winner as for a reason won the race after it had the best run of all time and got the cart into the race to be right on top of them and only had to peel to the outside coming to the corner. Driven properly not much doubt beautide or christen me win. So yes Cb going well and is a good honest, tough but not spectacular horse who has become far more tractable as it has gotten older but would be more than happy to back franco Nelson sitting on its back to beat it, the same goes for victorious. Yes, I am also well aware of wartime sweetheart propensity with sthat ort of suck run to flop into a hole in a race run to suit but that still doesn't justify it running in the inters ahead of horses like franco nelson or for that matter David Hercules if we're taking previous form into account which we clearly are according to their selection criteria. Before anyone jumps up and down, no I haven't bet pre post for the final either prior to tonight's heats.

By:
while the new system is far from perfect im not sure if the old way is the answer anymore. hard to see horses like restrepo/for a reason standing up for 3 heats and a final
By:
maybe you are right egypt. spread out over 3 weeks might work.
this concept isnt working the old one some think doesnt work maybe it is time to put the whole thing to sleep. better off than dragging this so called ID around like an old busted claimer. |
By:
That was the whole point of the series gypt, it was the ultimate test of a trainers and drivers skill and the endurance of the beast and resulted in some unbelievable racing. If a horse like restrepo couldn't cut it through the tough series racing they simply didn't make the final, ithe inters wasn't and should be catered towards powderpuff horses.
Horses like Restrepo have plenty of opportunities to win annual one off events Vic Cups, Pacing Cups etc where you don't have to endure a tough series to qualify. Generally but not always of course the greats won the Inters or the best training and driving performances performances won it, there are more than enough Cups, the Inters should remain as it was designed to be not this hopelessly bastaardised concept that now exists. |
By:
Before all the Vics start jumping up and down that is in no way implying that Restrepo is a powderpuff.
