A couple of replies re comments made:

- i do realise PC & premium service are different, been paying PC for ages, just qualified for Premium Big Farking Deal Service
- Crazy, with the way i play am unable to avoid PC

All Betfair do is cry poor, up their charges & work out ways to pilfer the accounts of successful customers. Oh, the joy of being a Monopoly

Yeah, the reality of the maths for Kye is he must have net profits of near 400k on the punt and paying less than 40% (generating :S) in commission.
Now to be a straight punter, you must have around a 10% edge to be eligible for PC in the first place.  But if he is paying 34% to BF, he must be only generating around 10% or so in commission, long term, betting on 200 markets a week.
Paying 1/3 profits to BF, and only making a few hundred a week just doesn't add up.  Must have closer to 20% positive expectation, long term, but 400k profit hasn't been used to increase bets over the (must be close to 10 years betting here at those numbers)...

Don't like questioning people, but to be on that rate making just a few hundred a week, generating so little commission, just makes little sense.  But then the PC in general doesn't make much sense to me.

PC,

You made 2800 quid last week and you're complaining. This thread is pointless.
Where the fck do you think that money comes from?
At the risk of patronising the otherwise educated, here's how it works:

Betfair advertises to the tune of millions of dollars a month to bring new punters (and remind some old ones they exist and should get some of the punting dollar) in so they can punt recreationally, leave a little behind and overall have a little fun.

You kill those little recreational punters off without paying your dues to the tune of around 50-100 people per week. Most of those people once dead, will never return.

It's simple mathematics. Your activities on Betfair have a cost to everyone else on Betfair. Yes, EVERYONE! You need to pay for that at the same fcking rate as the rest of us.

I pay 21% in contributions to Betfair year on year. You are paying less than me and not paying anywhere near as much commission.

Now stop your fcking bitching.

You swallow the Betfair Propoganda very easily Crazy. Yet you have no idea how i play & who my dealings mainly cater for.

If you breakdown my customer i'm sure that the majority would be traders or corps laying off.
Last week fairly poor to be honest

I ain't swallowing anything.
Just because you think you are serving a higher master doesn't mean you aren't a part of the machine that creates poorer value for those less fortunate than yourself.
It's just one big equation in the end, PC, and you and I both know exactly what that equation is and how to work it.
You are wrong, plain and simple. Your view is simplistic to the absurd and you do not understand the ecology balance required for you to exist and what that costs.
You need to take a step back, my friend, and realise that you are a part of a closed loop with finite limits at this point.

Just send me 5,000 to find out how.

I recall it was only a few days ago, you were saying that you could easily show us how to beat paying PC.

That seems very hypocritical now, with your recent about turn.

I don't see how, Cas. I didnt say I pay PC. My contributions come in commissions.
My contribution is above 20%, the minimum requirement of Betfair for my existence.

I am a very poor tipster & find it hard to find a winner. If i thought i could help you i would.
That's the honest truth & has no effect on what or how i do.

I have read where you claimed to pay PC and had a fail safe method of avoiding it.
By:

When: 22 Aug 12 07:16
PC, why are you laughing?
You seem to be taking this very personally. This is about whether or not you should pay PC, ethically, morally, and any which way in which you wish to consider it.

We are all required to contribute 20% of our profits to Betfair in commissions or other charges. I pay 21% and you pay 20%. We are both contributing fairly equally to maintain the Golden Goose that continues to provide us with eggs.

The similarity between us is that we both do well on Betfair. The major difference is that you consider it a right and I recognise it as a privilege.

Cas, I have paid PC in the past, but I have become adept at avoiding it. Yes, I am denying none of that.

We are required to pay 20% because Betfair decided we had to. It's fair to say that you are quite gullible.
They can do it because in some markets/ways of playing they are operating in a Monopoly. Let's see what happens should competition ever knock on the door. Do you think the 20% charge will exist?
Give me a price on Betfair getting rid of PC should decent competition ever start?

Cas,

There is actually no advantage to paying or not paying PC. Just because I avoid PC doesnt mean I like paying 21% in contribution. The main reason I avoid PC is to avoid the ups and downs of it. The net effect for us is exactly the same. In fact, my efforts to avoid PC and smooth my earnings probably require me to work harder. It provides me with some added advantages (risk free arbs for example) where as for the most part, people who pay PC cannot do that.
That is the only reason to attempt to avoid PC.

Can't say exactly how i play Cast but i'm not a trader & am exposed on about 90% of markets i play in.

Crazy, i thought the commission rate was 5%. And my discount would bring me down to 4%.

I'm with Kye.
Crazy, you haven't been rationale at all. All that you are doing it trotting out the Betfair propoganda, which makes me think you are a Betfair employee. BTW. The reasons you are giving justifying PC was their second attempt at a valid reason. The first one they gave was they were trying to capture 'successful traders'. Once it started to hit 'punters' they brought out the propoganda you are repeating.

By:

When: 22 Aug 12 07:49
Without picking sides, the reason you are paying more than them is perhaps because they have a better strategy and are more succesful.
I pay more than nearly both of you combined (in regards to percentage), but it certainly isn't my view that you should all pay the same as me.
By:
PCisaripoff
When: 22 Aug 12 07:49
My commission rate is 4%. You are paying more in charges than i because i am very good at what i do.

I am paying 20% because Betfair is a monopoly & if they ever get competition I'm sure i'll be getting a call very quickly from BF offering large inducements not to take my business elsewhere.
By:

all the rules should be same for every player Crazy simple
The fact these punters dont turnover as much as others should not count against them
By:
CrazySnake
When: 22 Aug 12 07:52
The reason I pay more is because I deliberately keep my contribution high. It affords me money making opportunities that PC payers cannot risk.
To imply that I am not good at what I do, PC, is a little naive, and more than a little arrogant.
By:
PCisaripoff
When: 22 Aug 12 07:52
The reason for my username & PC threads is that i am sick of BF crying poor, saying they are losing money, etc.

I know i'm quite a small fish & have been caught up in this blatant abuse of market position & money grab.
I'm sure there are many paying much more than i am.
Betfair must love Wednesday nights because they go into their customers accts & rip ouit money that has been rightfully won & commission has already been applied.

Before PC came in I was very efficient. I got the phonecall before PC was ever introduced to advise me that if I continued on my current path I would pay PC along with a very small percentage of Betfair customers. For the first few months I decided I would cop that, but over time I realised it was limiting the things I could do, so I strategised a way to expand my flexibility by giving Betfair their 20% in other ways.
I am poorer for the advent of PC, but I am still able to function quite well, and within the revamped model I was forced to create. In the end I want the Betfair machine to continue to function, for without it I will have to get a job. If that means as one of the more successful punters I have to pay a little more to keep it viable, then I am not going to bitch about it for the next 5 years. I tried in the beginning to have it changed, but all the guys who boycotted Betfair in the beginning came back, as did I.
There just simply isnt a viable alternative.
