I haven't trawled through the 14 pages of personal insults predecding this post, but getting back to the original post...

In my 20 years of working in (financial) markets and speaking to numerous people on the ground in big and small business, I can say that right now, the Australian economy is in the worst shape I've ever seen it, by some margin.  I truely believe we're in for a horrendous few years once it finally tips.

The amount of savage economic headwinds coming our way is overwhelming.  And when the personal debt levels of households are as high as they are, there's just no wriggle room.

Why is a tax on the miners bad
but paying a tax on top of a tax good?

Which government privatized the electric companies and will most likely raise GST and privatize even more.

If Rabbott is going to give WA more GST but not cut Tasmania, then he must be planning to raise the GST rate. Confused  yes,the mug imo

When: 03 May 12 08:53
hat's it Tony, tell them one thing in WA another in Tassie.

the Federal Opposition Leader, Tony Abbott, has backed away from his support for the GST to be carved up on a per capita basis.

In Western Australia earlier this week, Mr Abbott said the Government should seriously consider distributing GST revenue on a per capita model as proposed by the bigger, Coalition-held states.

"I think it makes a lot of sense," he said.

Such a move would strip Tasmania of up to $700 million.

On a visit to Tasmania, Mr Abbott denied he was in support of a per capita distribution.

"I made no such suggestion. Look, I accept that Tasmania has special circumstances."

"I think it's very important that perceptions of fairness be addressed and the best way to tackle that is to see far more transparency in the whole distribution of monies.

"But believe me, the Coalition will always support a fair deal, a square deal for Tasmania, he said.

The state Liberal leader, Will Hodgman, is claiming victory.

"Tony Abbott made it very clear to me that a Coalition Government will not short change Tasmania," he said.

classic Abbott…if its not in writing don't believe him. The Liberals plan to keep gouging WA's GST.
How will Abbott pay for all these promises a) raise GST b) lay into the Unis (again) c) cut health services or d) all of the above?
