I haven't fancied much all week, and not knowing whether Ayr and Newbury will be closer to good or soft makes things more tricky.
The one I landed on looked better about 15 minutes ago, but one the rags has come out reducing the place terms. 4.30 Newbury Bubble Dubi EW Horse has run well both starts, in fact better than the placings might suggest. Both times he was run down late after doing too much too soon. I just hope they don't try to strangle him tomorrow. There was nothing wrong with the previous tactics, just the pace judgement. Several of opposition that have run have raced prominently without any making the running. You don't often see Henderson runners leading bumpers. So a fair chance he can get the lead again. Stable no great history in bumpers, but 3 of last 6 runners have won. Generally 11/1 before the non runner. Good luck all. |

Working on the basis of good ground at Newbury, and on the soft side at Ayr.
Just cashed out Jersey Bean so a decent run from that would be a bit of a sickener. I think Diamond Jack (first race Chepstow) looks as if he should be better than a 100/1 shot in time, but at the moment plenty needs ironing out. The market suggests this is another 'educational run'. So I am left with this one:- 2.45 Newbury The Player Queen EW Not sure she is that 'well in', but she should be better on the quicker surface, and up in trip. I would imagine the likes of Nextdoortoalice will make it a decent test of stamina, and hopefully my not so confident selection will pick up some pieces late on. Unless Nina The Terrier returns to her early season form it isn't the best renewal. |

4.02 Chepstow File Illico, he's won 2/3 since blinkers fitted and although it was only a small field affair he won last time, the second came out and franked the form, not sure how good the form of the win of Getaway Luv is on first run for new stable, so Jonjo's it is. Good luck everyone.

Again, a non runner shortens the price, never mind a winner is a winner.
Nice one Celeric and good luck to those still to come. |
|
By:
Oily, don't worry about non runners, just celebrate the win.
|
|
By:
Well done on the two winners.
The lack of scores in the competition reflects that it wasn't an easy day. No big winners with just a couple to run which leaves things pretty much as they were. We were a 20/1 winner behind, now it's a 16/1 winner. |

Well done Oily. Moves us up one place, but it is very close for the minor places, and we are still that 16/1 winner behind the leaders, and an 8/1 winner of the chasers.

Think today looks better for outsiders than tomorrow. For once quite a few to select from.
1.45 Aintree Garry Clermont EW Strong traveller, relatively unexposed at the trip. Ran much better than placing in the Coral Cup, being eased down on ground that was much too slow for him. Flat track should suit better. The more the ground dries the better his chance. He is around 22/1, but I will be pretty disappointed if he isn't in the mix. Stable in decent form and both Sky Pirate and All The Glory ran well at big prices yesterday. |

By:
Good luck DD, looks a lively outsider that one, fingers crossed.

Ideally would have liked to have stayed national hunt this week, but the two meetings at Cheltenham are pretty moderate, and then there is a bookmaker charity (as if they need it after Aintree) at Haydock on Saturday with 7 handicaps. Anyone would think they don't want punters to win.
So it's back to the Flat. I don't think last season's 2 year-olds were that exciting, particularly the fillies. So with that in mind I am going for a minor upset in tomorrow's Nell Gwyn. 3.35 Newmarket Ribbon Rose EW A course and distance winner, I think she has won both her starts with a little more in hand than the official verdict suggests. So with a potential fitness advantage I think she is worth chancing at around 10/1. Any rain would probably be a plus. |

Morning everyone, I've gone for Galileo Glass at Ripon. I watched this one make a total hash of things last time, veering badly to the right that cost him the race, todays right handed track at Ripon should, theoretically suit much better. Lots of dangers lurking, they bypassed Beverley yesterday to go to Ripon, hope it was the right choice!
Good luck with yours Dragon. |
