3.05 Ascot Valley Forge EW
There was a couple I could have gone for on Saturday, but settled on this one. He is stepping up to listed, but at 25/1 I think that he is too big in an interesting race. Both he and Scope were both given really poor rides last time. Scope may also be a bit of a dodgepot. Sadly, same jocks tomorrow. Last time Probert just let the race develop into a sprint, and I am pretty sure Valley Forge is a lot better than that run suggests. Chalk Stream has gone up 11lbs for winning an ordinary handicap. I am not sure he is anywhere as good as that mark. Biggest concern I have for Valley Forge is the softer ground, but at least it should make it a stiffer test of stamina. If nothing goes on Probert should go forward. As ever fingers crossed. Good luck all and good luck again custard. |

25/1-12/1. If I had a pound for every horse that moves like that only to run an absolute shocker I would be quite rich. From the moment he didn't go forward it was effectively game over. He almost stopped too quickly for it be just the ground. Scope was a special bummer having been on him 33/1 first five for the Leger. It's pretty obvious that task shouldn't have been beyond even train set.

I hope our mutual friend stewy is OK, chav, getting a bit worried after those reports coming out of Scotland yesterday.
Mind, isn't stewy on the opposite side of the country? |

Good luck today.
I've gone for Kodiac Prince, EW, 3.10 Killarney. Currently a top priced 18-1 poke. I'm going to take a chance on Kodiac Prince who has been shaping as though he could be running into form. He was noted staying on well two starts back over a mile at Punchestown (good), and last time at Listowel over 7f on yielding ground, he had a wide trip but was still close up when meeting trouble in the straight. He is eligible for weaker races than this, but was rated 80 at the end of last season and is now down to 68. He seems versatile regarding ground, and hopefully will benefit from the application of first-time cheekpieces. |

George signed a four year deal with us last week.

Bad luck dunter1.
I have seen the odd better ride than that. |

So far I have put up one horse that has contracted from 50/1-14/1 and another 25/1-12/1. The first was beaten at halfway on a course where he was 3/4 and placed in the race last year, and the second finished 30 lengths off the back of the second last. His stable companion who the market totally ignored finished two places in front of him. Both trained by Andrew Balding who is becoming about as readable as Mark Johnston.
So although I could make the case it is probably a waste of time and effort. 3.50 Longchamp Incarville EW |

As unreadable as MJ

Yes, he's Marks & Spencer's compared to Johnson's Primark.
Thanks, I got lucky with Real World yesterday at 4/1 and 5/2, but it would be nice to just occasionally get lucky with a 20/1 shot. |

Well done George on yesterday's winner.

Not good enough yet again, although I was expecting a stalking and pick up the pieces ride rather than a throw the kitchen sink three furlongs out ride. The same thing happened with another one I backed, Onassis (who is never ridden forward) later on. Sometimes I wonder if we would be better off without jocks?
As for the Arc what can you say? I backed Tarnawa at 12/1 last November, and Hurricane Lane during the week at 6/1. Take the winner out, and I would be feeling pretty pleased with myself. However you dress it up the winner had no chance on anything in the form book. It wasn't as if he had one bit of fantastic heavy ground form, and it's not as if the German horses have been doing much in their overseas raids. |

Cheers Shane, custard and china.
Very well done with the nap custard. It looked like they went for a touch on it at prices last time at Carlisle, but not a bean for it today. It's a funny ol' game at times. |
