George , what are we going to do Monday to Thursday next week with no flat racing. Surely this break would have been better during Cheltenham week.

Nothing on the shortlist today, the two 'speculative' ones EW I was having to decide between were Cafe Milano in the 5.00 and Final Option in the 7.30, but I was leaning towards the latter anyway before china posted.
Final Option didn't really go on after a promising start as a 2YO, but was set some stiff tasks, and I just wonder if she could be the sort to bounce back as a 4YO in this less demanding company. Her trainer's only recent runner returned from a similar break to be just touched off by a short head. Just the seven runners, but at current odds of 16/1, with the chance of a drift, I've gone EW. Good luck chaps. china, I think they like the AW meetings on during Cheltenham week to keep the turnover going on the evenings. Well, at least we've got the Curragh tomorrow to look forward to, big fields on heavy ground  A chance to refresh the batteries, china, ready for the domestic turf kicking off next weekend  |

Shame about the SP given it was backed at 40 pre-race on here for a couple of hundred. I could curse for not growing a pair and going straight win, but then again, it could have gone off at 33s and finished second and I'd be cursing for not having gone EW! We're back in the game, that's the main thing, so good luck to us all next week. |

I wouldn't worry about the Win v EW, at those odds it makes sense to play the latter. All to play for and catching the Racing Demons is not so insurmountable by any means. Good luck this week all. |

3.05 Tipperary - Upping The Anti WIN
This looks a match and in my book this one should be the favourite. I think he has stronger form and a much more attractive pedigree on the dam's side than the current favourite. He was just collared late on when making his point debut and the race looked more competitive, and was run in a faster time than the second division that was won by Journey With Me. I hope he will make all. Fingers crossed. |

Worse than atrocious. Conditions are not great (horses are not winning from the front) and he ran a little free, but no significant reason why the wheels came off once he was asked to go quicker. On that evidence they have paid three figures for a total dud. I did come close to getting the market right, but no consolation in that. Almost certainly the best result of the day for the books.

I do have a few options at shorter odds but I've decided to take a flyer EW on Lady Maura (4.10 Navan, generally 25-1 shot). She was set some stiff tasks after winning a 5f handicap at this course last June and possibly under conditions that aren't her optimum.
She's had another change of stable (was origianlly with Johnny Murtagh and then Fozzy Stack) and has stamina as well as fitness to prove on this step up to a mile, but she's back into more realistic company, won her only start on soft ground and interestingly regarding the forecast heavy ground today, she's a half-sister to the high class mudlark Donjuan Triumphant. |
