This discussion always arises when a good price LRF wins or LRF run up a sequence of wins.
But I don't think anyone could budge you with a crow bar on this ruling Reg so I bid you fare thee well. ![]() |

actually I've no problem with abandoning it - its not my rule, its a comp rule pete. It was originally the instructions rule which I am guessing has existed since the comp began. I am only wary of changing a not unreasonable rule and therefore the underlying nature of the comp itself and its traditions. The law of unintended consequences is always at the back if my mind.

I wasn't here long when the instructions ruling was in but I do remember that being farcical and a right pi** on for you settlers and I am not against the LRF ruling just the very generous 10 days on offer.

An interesting debate, as I was on the LRF yesterday and benefited from the 4-1. I had a busy day and couldn’t post. That said, I sympathise with the comments and have given a bit of thought to this so I offer this as an addition to the discussion and I don’t have an axe to grind over it. I just enjoy the competition.
Considerations are that: People Work People are retired People have holidays Settlers have lives It seems to me that 10 days LRF is generous in Div 3. However , in higher divisions, people have earned the right to be there and they have life pressures which can sometimes make it hard to post. The balance is for the settlers as the more complicated we make it, the harder it is for them. Without them we don’t have a competition and we are very grateful. We could adopt the 5 consecutive days of LRF which are pre booked and allowed once or twice in a month if you are on holiday. Single days of non posting will result in a lost result (i.e -1 point). Sometimes when you can’t post because of life pressures there has to be a penalty to be fair to all. The incentive has to be to post. For Div 3, it’s easy to opt out for a month if you are on an extended holiday but higher divisions need some flexibility. It’s unlikely I will ever need this flexibility so offer this up for discussion. |

Interesting ideas ATK
But where does it end ? 1 fitz all rule makes for continuity The luckydipness of a decent Lrf winner brings it to the boil now & then No one says a word when it hits a losing run |

Many Thanks for comment Madhatters.
My suggestion would apply to all divisions to create some flexibility for higher divisions. The overriding principle should be : The incentive has to be to post. The settlers will decide if it is workable and I rest my case. No issues either way. Here's to a winner tomorrow. |

Didn`t see the debate. We`ve looked at this area many times and decided to simplify instructions. Obviously it causes a stir when the lrf wins at 4/1. The only solution I can come up with is capping the price at say 2/1. So if lrf wins at 8/11 that`s what you get, 6/4 13/8 and so on. If it`s higher than 2/1 then that`s all you get credited.
