Afternoon gents.

How do you all feel about increasing the numbers in the premier division from 25 to 26 on a permanent basis?

If we were to go ahead. The fairest way I feel would be to promote 5 from div 1 at the end of the month and an extra one to be promoted from div`s 2 & 3 as a one off, obviously keeping the same numbers in div`s 1 & 2. Afterwards, we revert to the standard plan of promotion/relegation.

I don't really have an opinion, except for the fact it would make it easier for me to get in! Laugh Why are you proposing the change shane? Wot's your thinking? And what do you think would be the reaction of those in the div?

One thought  have had is that its small size could be a factor in so many-odds-on choices. because it is so compressed you're never that far away from the relegation zone so the impetus for safety must be higher. I know even in Div 1 I can be riding high one minute and down in the boon docks the next!

Well, there are fewer in the premier as you`re all aware, it mainly gives another napster a chance every month of winning the coveted prize. There would also be a very tiny difference in the chances of being relegated, 4 from 25 to 4 from 26.
Also, the main draw of this comp is surely promotion and relegation, so for one month an extra napster from all three divisions gets promoted.

I can`t really see a down side because if we decided to go for it, the month after everything stays the same but with 26 competing in the premier instead of 25.

I can`t really see anyone in the premier division objecting, though you never know Grin

And what about upsizing to 30?

Same in div 2 Reg, I was riding high at the start of last month, a bad run saw me battling relegation on the last day.

Very easy to slip from say 6th place to 25th.

Why not open the door and let em all in Laugh

If everyone is happy, we could always look again and increase another 1 or 2 over time?

well obsviously it would have to be over time, but 30 seems a decent size to me - 25 or 26 a bit limited and 26 is a bit of an odd number (ok its even but you know wot I mean! Laugh) . but TBH whatever you guys believe is best is fine by me

I've no great view either way, other than a division of 30 may make it a bit more competitive with 5 to go down each month as with the other divisions.

You've got the numbers queueing up below in 3 to take part
Grasp the nettle
Create some interest further up
1 a month extra into Prem

If it slackens off - cut it

Shake up the Prem maybe
Try to end up in profit rather than minus every month Shocked

Personally i would do away with the premiership waste of time IMO or even  reduce it to 1 and just have Salmon in and then maybe he might go for a 2/1 shot (though i doubt it) Hey Reg i see our Lads have the national winner you know, us crap tipsters struggling in the pits.

Maybe reduce the premiership down rather than increase it, as it is such a bloody bore of a league. (seriously) is that spelt right as i am well PI*****?

It's not that long ago that Div 3 hardly got into double figures with actual finishers. Most were pulled up by halfway.

I was obsessed around 1965. I think he is ( or probably was ) a genius, but he's not the person I would listen to most these days.

I still think his recent stuff if not as good has his 60s, 70s work is still miles ahead of the modern day artists Lryically, its just that the old bards voice has shot big style.

One of my fav tracks as a teenager was Sad Eyed Lady Of the Low Lands (if that's the correct title) you know the song I mean though. Was it the Blond On Blond album?

Unless the premiership is increased by at least 50%, I have little hope of getting there Wink

I have no strong views, I presume it was done like this originally to mimic the football leagues setup but the only valid reason I can see for keeping fewer in the Premier is just to distinguish it as the elite division.
Increasing it to 30 over time may well reduce the relegation scare factor and we'd see the elite unchained and show us all their true potential Wink

I propose that we try it, unless there's an outcry: increase promotion from each lower div by one each month until the Prem reaches 30. If it doesn't work out the process could be reversed.

Could we not reduce relegation from the Premiereship. We don't want any Tom,Dick or Pete getting in.

That`s the one salmon, great album. The next one I bought was live at the Budokan which was a double album.
