How does this sound. Increase the premier division by one for the next three months, so May will have 26, June 27 and July 28. Then take stock and see how we all feel. Obviously for the next three months there will also be an extra promotion place available in Div`s 1, 2 & 3.
We need something solid in front of us to decide upon, what I`ve proposed, I believe will enhance the overall ethos. Look forward to your replies. |

Think its a good idea . I have never understood why the premier has less in it than other divisions . On a separate note I couldn't help noticing how few people went for it on the last day last month . Think we need to make the Premier worth winning for more people . Maybe , from next month , make relegation exempt for the previous months winner .

Good point china.
By:
Think yhou shld go the whole hog 30 ... gradually by all means. interesting point by china ... but I doubt 1 would make much diff ... how about top 3 exempt?
By:
Well three is a start Reg, let`s then take stock.
By:
It would be better top three.
By:
Something to consider at a later stage though.
By:
Like I said before (although not in the best of ways) there isn't incentive to do that much once you reach the Premier, the only main incentive I see is staying away form the bottom four places
Exemption might have the opposite effect because it just takes pressure from doing that extra needed |

If the winner is a long way clear , tips a big outsider like BB on Saturday , then top 3 gives others something to aim at as well.
Before someone says it , there is the odd outsider tipped in the premier league ![]() |

Maybe in a 2 runner race, present company not included.

Survival will always play an important part in the premier division. Nothing we can do will eliminate that. Just take a look at the other divisions, plenty of favs & odds on.
Too much is made of people`s lack of ambition, yes it is there, I agree, but as stated many times before by me, four are promoted every month, so in theory we could have 16 new napsters in the premier every 4 months, or taking it to the extreme, 24 new players every 6 months. So my message to everyone who knocks them would be to disturb the status quo, knock them off their perch. |

Shane i thought we were not allowed to talk about bands anymore?

Oh crikey, I forgot, we got told off earlier

Was it to do with clogging up the thread, like in the past when important discussions were underway, outside of the settlers, one man and his bleedin dog showed an interest.

Premier (30)
Div 1 (30) Div 2 (30) Div 3 (maximum of 50) the existing participants plus new members on a 1st post basis. Commencing 1st June. The above numbers would be my proposal as i cannot see any reason in pratting about with a 1 a month increase over a longer period keep it simple and let us do it like this, Nobody from the premiership gets relegated during May making a very interesting month to view. |
By:
I like the idea of a month of no relegation
. The banter will go off the scale with any odds on shot ![]() |

i am one man and I have a lovely 7yo blue merle sheepdog and had plenty to say on the previous thread about changes!
i have little opinion on current topic at all and can't see a change that would persuade those people that are 'cautious' to approach the competition in any other way unless BSP was maybe used to give greater reward to those that are even just slightly more adventurous. Don't see a bigger division making any noticeable difference. As you know, I just don't see Premiership survival as a meaningful target....the aim for me is all about overall profit, not league position (I just wish I wasn't such a sh1te tipster!!! ).Only three Prem players managed a profit in March I believe and, despite people having 50 and 60% strike rates, they generally still show a 10 to 20% loss on stake! Best structure would be one huge division with one monthly champion....isn't this the equivalent of how the SL/RP Naps table has existed happily for the 40 years that I have followed the sport? Four settlers - each gets one very busy month but then three months off before their turn again. |
By:
BSP is something I warmed to before mads, as you say the greater the price the greater the difference.
I`ve a little exercise to complete, the results may surprise many. Or maybe not, let`s see. |
By:
Trouble with one league Madhatter the craic will vanish.
By:
i like that as well....no relegation from Prem in May.....(how) will people's tipping habits change?
![]() |
By:
I have tried my best to stop napping on the evening a/w cards because of the awful overrounds this winter . Those that choose to bet in Ireland also have the same problem. The only downside of BSP can only be if its more work for the settlers .
By:
i agree petemac....one would be too few....and it is nice to have a promotion to aim for (or relegation to try to avoid!) each month which would of course disappear with just one huge division
i could see say 3 divisions of 40 per league with 4 up/4 down each month persuading people to be a bit more adventurous with selections so let's hope that 30 per division will have some effect but i feel it may still need to go to a bit bigger number |
By:
Promotion and relegation are vital, that`s what makes it such a great comp.
By:
BSP has been discussed and well rejected China.
Madhatter, are you saying you like the idea that the craic will vanish or the idea of no relegation in May for premiership? In reply to your question how will tipping habits change? i never said that would happen just said it would be interesting to see how the existing tipsters would react to a month without the threat of relegation. |
By:
Today 14 from 24 in the premier selected a favourite, that's 58.33%
In division three it was 40%. Considering the two extremes whereby in the premier you have no promotion to aim for and division 3 where you have no relegation to fear, I`d say there`s not much difference. |
By:
Was bsp rejected mads? I may be wrong, but thought it was something we would look at again in the future?
By:
being fair Shane it was a crap day.
By:
I`m not saying it`s typical, but it does happen a lot
divs 1 & 2 have a high percentage selecting favs, I noticed a lot last month in div 1. |
By:
petemac - like the idea of no relegation for a month.....why would anyone want the craic to disappear!?
By:
18.33% not much difference?
If i increased my weight by that much i would be a right Fat Ba***** |
By:
sorry Mad miss-read your reply
Utd let me down once again all my years racing profit has vanished down the football drain i must give myself a good talking to. |
By:
Have you included the 7 LRF in that Shane
By:
Take the obvious into account pete, say five were to be relegated from div 3, the percentage would be a little higher, then take promotion away from div 3 and again it`s not unfair to assume the percentage would increase again.
By:
I have china, I assumed 3 from 7 would have been happy enough to rely on the last race fav.
By:
The true figure would be 4 or 5 I feel.
By:
Shane you are wasting your time trying to convince us just stick with the "lets see you knock em of their perch comment" i am still heading for the conference so it won't be me for a long time.
By:
The popularity has risen in recent months so a Conference division could become a reality should the current trend continue.
By:
it's a number of years since we last had a Conference division!
By:
I think we`re ready again, adds another angle to div 3.
