Braved the elements to bring you this ladies 'n gents...
Irish Sunday papers update: Sunday World front page: A pic of a shook lookin Mary with a hot drink... FRAIL MARY SINGS FOR HER LIFE Story inside of how she's been sick and was unable to rehearse this week. That we as a nation should be proud of her and vote for her to get her through to the final. + Numbers to vote for Mary and 1D inside Irish NOTW front page: MARY: AXE CHER NOT ME Inside Louis plea: PLEASE EXORCISE 'LITTLE DEVIL' CHER Story of how she's stroppy, a nightmare off set and a dislikable person + Numbers to vote for Mary inside NOTW Editorial states the following: LET'S CHEER ON MARY Irish X Factor hopeful Mary Byrne has helped us through the doom and gloom of the last few weeks. The Dublin Tesco worker is a truly down-to-earth woman who has lifted our spirits with her heart-warming story and amazing voice. Let's return the favour of making her dreams come true by picking up the phones tonight and getting our favourite till lady to the final. (iNX: The above was actually underlined) Irish Mirror front page: MARY: MY FAMILY FEUD HELL Inside a story of Mary's heartache at her ex partner who walked out on her and her little girl 23 years ago and how his family turned on her after she dedicated her U2 song to him, All I Want Is You. + Numbers to vote for Mary inside Irish Star Sunday front page: MARY: MY FLING WITH A WOMAN Inside a story how in desperation she turned to the affection of a woman for support when her partner walked out on her, leaving her a single mother in hard times. She goes on to stress it was a mistake and that she's not a lesbian. + Numbers to vote for Mary inside While on my Mission Impossible task set by Topper I also caught a snippet of the main 2fm Sunday morning breakfast show with Baz/Lucy. They urged the country to get behind Mary and vote for her and gave the number 1513 711 302! Went in to Tesco to get a couple of bits and the check out lady (40 something) said it seemed like a foregone conclusion that Mary would go from the judges last night. As I've always maintained, if Mary doesn't make it through, it won't be for the want of trying. Might be a bot of life in the auld dog yet! ![]() |

Flicking through the Independent (which I bought) there's a story on page 23 by a journalist Andrea Byrne (snooty middle class @r$ehole, I think is the phrase my father would use to describe her).
Thought it was mildly amusing... Headline: One Direction for Mary may just be the boot. Story then of how she has been a good distraction, is really not that good, she's definitely not a star. 1/4 page pic of Mary on XF with underneath: MABY, IT's CURTAINS: Dubliner Mary Byrne could be knocked out of tonight's X Factor semi-final but it remains to be seen whether judge Simon Cowell signs her to his record label. Her story states that unless one of the other four contestants is ousted for having close relations with a) Sep Blatter or b) Vladimir Putin, that Mary's journey will come to an end tonight. She says the final will be Matt, Rebecca, 1D. Matt's bookies' favourite, but she thinks 1D will shade it. He was much more appealing in the audition stages. He wasn't made to wear wife beater vests and sing along to dodgy backing tracks by a clueless Danni Minogue. She goes on to say: "If there's one act I hope doesn't remain in the public consciousness post X-Factor, it's Cher Lloyd. Other than her permanent scowl. Vicky Pollard-esque chic and over-zealous use of her tweezers, what's most grating is her bloated ego. She's already a diva, God only knows what she will be like when she actually achieves something in life. Yes she can hold a tune, bust a few moves and rap a couple of 'ring-a-ding-dingas' but that doesn't necessarily make her a star. It was heart-warming to hear her booed last Sunday." She then predicts Mary Cher B2 with judges saving Cher as the tantrum would be too much. iNX: I hope to **** there aint a sing off. That would be the last koont of an act that Cowell could pull. Cert Mary outpolled the scroat if so! Nada in the Times gents.... |
By:
Lot less confident now, but still hopeful over this one. Will be close I reckon, but I've left my bet with Cher to go as a lot of Mary's vote is a core vote that won't be put off by anything that happened on the show, and I don't think Cher will have appealed widely with her two slots yesterday - here's hoping.

By:
Alot of her vote? We talking about the mass amounts that had her rock bottom last week? Ta-ra Mary.

RMB - and is cher's vote all that strong as she was B2 a couple of weeks back (Mary above her vote)?
By:
Have just watched the replays and Cher was FOOKING AWFUL. If it's a singing competition she GOES tonite. 3.5 is MASSIVE
By:
good work NXRBL, thanks a lot, corroborates my view that her vote may be mobilised sufficiently to get her into 4th place rather than 5th.....
By:
I would of thought that the Irish papers would of had more important things to put on their front pages at the moment, but I do hope that that Mary gets thru
By:
Lets get this right....
Getting through is nothing to do with singing ability or last performance. This is a guessing game of Cowells twist and turns and media hype. As a show its got worse as seasons have gone ny and is now utter dire. But as a betting medium it is a right little cracker. View it this way....They all have on left bar Cole...take one out and they all have one each, all bleating on abd barking uo their act.. Cole wont go into final with two and as many judges as poss to have a live prospect to hype. Rebecca or Cher...thats your choice this week...and chav biitch is history. On another point..Personally cant believe the so called public voting.....But if the Irish gets behind the battle axe...Oh and they will.....and if some of her phones cant accept calls ..like they did when leon got into and won the final... Then that country will put her in the final. |

all you lot that said there was no sing off - F U C K YOU!! Lying cheating CNUTS I curse the lot of you

Ta-ra Mary, and thanks for the money.
Feckin easy this game at times. ![]() On a personal note I'm pleased the fat useless cabaret singer is out, and to think George and FLL said she'd be hard to beat and had the best voice (to P and O ferries for you chaps I think lol) ![]() ![]() ![]() |

By:
Well, probably the most crooked result they've ever had on x-factor had to be used to beat this bet. It took that much effort on their part to down us, so no shame in this one fellas. I have a feeling ITV won't be hearing the end of this for some time, as they've contradicted both announcements on the show, and on their website. Madness.
By:
What annoucements on the show and what announcement on the website? The statement on the website is open to interpretation.
By:
show me all the years in the past where there has been a sing off all the way to the finals please.

GreenFortune is technically right

I suggest you stop p0ncing off the opinions and hard work of people on here in future and do your own grafting.

By:
Well said shrewdbury.

By:
Did drop a few hints with the dead cert bits but couldn't be arsed to save the rest of you as you're all colluders.
By:
My original opinon that I shared with everyone on this forum was that Mary was going. I did my hard work - it was undone by Simon being a bent CNUT and listening to crap on here.
By:
Didn't listen to a thing on here, and from what I gather he wasn't the one that was that bothered.
By:
Well said shrewdbury a case of do as your told danni or fúck off
oh ok il árse lick just for you simon |
By:
GreenFortune - Stop crying ffs.
By:
I am annoyed with the rampers/liars/misinformers on here. I am expressing it. I aint crying.
By:
That's all they ever do, ramp and collude. It's poor, really poor, but a real slight on them as characters (few are bullies with anger issues too - future wife beaters? which is a sickening thought
). |
By:
The REAL debate should have been whether or not there would be a sing off... I think people missed a trick by getting sucked into backing Cher.
I totally agree with the basic premise of NXRBL's analysis - namely that there was not much between Mary and Cher, and certainly enough to suggest that Mary might not finish bottom of the public vote. But this was discounting the level of manipulation that goes on in the show to ensure they get the final line-up they want. Mary was the sacrificial lamb, her face didn't fit in the final - and hey bingo wings, the sing off miraculously reappeared to get her out. |
By:
If you bet on someone else's information it is still your own responsibilty. Try blaming yourself if you can't accept losing.
By:
By the way, was anyone REALLY surprised to see a sing off - after last week's double elimination made a return to get rid of Wagner?
This year the rule book has gone out of the window - wild cards, random double eliminations, erratic running order, outrageous ramping, repeated pimp slots, and now the sing off in the semi. But before we get too wound up about it, surely these are all the same reasons why there's money to be made in second guessing all of the above?! I know that's why I love it... This is the first time that we've had five acts in a semi final, first time that four will be in a final - so there was always going to be a good chance they would move the goalposts. |
By:
I can accept losing. And yes it was me who put they bet down. Never denied either of these things.
By:
Well what do you expect, load of bollocks isnt it
Like the matt choo choo train, ramping. fact 1.They made it 4 in the final to get cher in,theres never been 4 in a final before. fact 2,Simon made Danny vote for Cher, because she has the most promise, and wants to give her every chance to shine, after last nights retalliation, would you have voted for Cher?think about it. Fact 3,Simons not lying when he says its a tough call,it could swing a few ways, not one of the acts stands out, rebecca probably the one on vocals, although not my cup of tea, like taking a trip in the tardis back to the 60's,sorry,been there done that and seen better. fact 4,rebecca is miles ahead on the voting now, think about it,clean living softly spoken shy mum, beer swilling, smoking, self confessed bum, mmmm, didnt take long did it?. fact 5,Rebecca is the only act not to receive any real harsh criticism, apart from it being mentioned she looked nervous on one occasion. It will be interesting if Cher tries something new again, thought she sounded a bit different in that sing off,not a one trick pony, credit where its due,but poles say Rebecca. |
