GTL: I accept your point, but as I said already she has alot more fans outside the UK and they can't vote for her. She is the only one left who could make it bug worldwide and the people of the UK should get behind her rather than calling her all the name under the sun!!!!
|
|
By:
assuming what you say is true about her global appeal (i disagree myself, personally think she'd be laughed out of the US, that's if they let her in), it's hard to deny that a very large proportion of the GB public dislike her, so why should they help her become a worldwide star?

i can see her getting it on with tim westwood...

GTL: You clearly don't like Cher and I do, so we are never going to agree.
I read last week that Jay-Z likes Cher the best after her rendition of Hard Knock Life and with backing from him, she could easily make it big in the US. I just don't understand why people dislike Cher, I understand why they might dislike Katie but Cher? |

By:
My guess is that Cher's supporters are all older teens / early 20s, and therefore out partying on a Saturday night, whereas 1D (for example) would more likely be younger girls in the 8-13 bracket. Also, judging by my other half, 1D reach out to the older females / mums, whereas Cher doesn't have a broad enough appeal beyond her core fan base.
All guess work, of course - but anyone that polarises opinion that much is always best avoided in these shows. Bland, middle of the road, inoffensive acts are the ones that have broad enough appeal to win! |

I think her 'attitude' approach and rapping will only appeal to a certain voting demograph. A lot of day over 35's - 40's might well think 'who's that little chav'. I'm sure you can see the point. When she sings 'sraight' I like her but with all the rapping? ..... not for me sorry. |

...And there you have it in a nutshell!
Lou, the voice of the over-40's ![]() |

Exactly! .......... just mind you.

tbf I think she's a rancid pikey chav and I'm 39

I did 'spread' at 35-40 though george so not bad!

I feel the same - and I'm a relative youngster at a sprightly 38!

Cher supporters to vote this weekend!! |

By:
i've not read all the thread but the above figures you have just posted imo indicate what poor value 1D are in the outright. I would of thought 1D would of been receiving the main chunk of their vote from the younger audience. APPEARS NOT!
note to myself . . . stay green on matt & becca cheers donal ![]() |

Why would it surprise you?
Most self-respecting teens and twenties are out getting sh1t faced |
|
By:
^ this is the key point. think what you were like when you were 20. if you stayed in on a sat you were a sad b astard
|
|
By:
15 years ago my life wouldn't have been worth living if I stayed in on Saturday watching that
And the younger ones, of course, have the purse strings and phone controlled by mum and dad to some extent |

teenagers make up less than a quarter of UK facebook users.
It's not just about user numbers (and teens are disproportionately high), equally important is how they use it, what they use it for. |
|
By:
so just the 6 years between 13 and 19 make up a whopping 25% of Facebook users in the UK? That is huge! must be every teen in the country on FB...
|
|
By:
i would say the majority of teenagers in the uk would be on facebook, not to mention other social networking sites. although traditionally it was considered to be the most middle class (bebo - teenage demographic, myspace more class ubiquitous) it has recently grown to such an extent that it would actually be quite strange for a teenager to not be on it - they would have to be taking a bit of a stand or just be part of luddites anonymous
