We all like who we like, Lou, but to say Diana never sang in tune is utter b0llox.
That was my initial point which I believe is hard to argue with, even for you. |

Of course we can all like who we like but that means I can too surely? I thought Diana was truly awful as was Eggnog. How they got that far is beyond me but people vote who they want for I suppose. I just think she got by on her looks and sweet little girl thing alone. Every single week she sang parts of the song flat. The judges just don't mention it. Look at last wek pretty much every act is 'that was brilliant' from every judge. Sorry to disagree but I'm entitled to my opinion too you know. |

She was shyte and the country voted so.
still waiting for the justification behind this rather warped logic. when did the country decide she was shyte? |

It's great when you can ignore some of the a$$holes on here. You just don't bother answering them as you've given up with them for being rude and nasty to you in the first place. So you just ignore them and hope that next year they won't do the same then I'll answer every single question .... within reason of course!

must be great to spout nonsense, and then when challenged hide behind "i'm not talking to you".
in real life it only works at nursery or in an OAP home. |

Replies: 13519 28 Oct 10 14:03 Angie or anyone else, do you fancy Cher to beat her? If you do maybe we could come to some sort of arrangement in the head to head market Not for me bud. Think Mary is good for a 4th/5th spot, possibly 3rd, which is higher than I see Cher finishing. GL bud. Had the Diana argument myself with others. I personally didn't like her, but I got very aggravated when told she wasn't popular. 2 million facebook fans, youtube hits in the millions, and a number 1 albulm and singles suggests she was and is very popular. |
|
By:
FWIW I think Diana has been the best contestant they've had on there with regards to credibility and sales, I just think her mainstream audience weren't as sad as us and were out on Saturday nights (the 18-30 yr old females), but have all willingly bought her albulm and singles. Not many X Factor singers who didn't even make the final have been able to live up to their pathetic last televised words of 'this is just the start for me'
. Without sounding like Cowell, I remarked at the time that she was a ready made genuine star and money making machine. |

fwiw regarding vickers, for me she's been a massive disappointment since leaving the show. i hadn't heard of ellie goulding back in 2008, but that's the sort of artist i'd have hoped vickers would be come.

FWIW I think Vickers is shyte and proved it again the other night on X Factor. She's even lost her looks so she has nothing at all going for her now. Pontins here she comes!

if she's lucky she might get a gig at a local dublin GAA club eh lou?

Diana REALLY irritated me (don't know if it was the strange hand movements or the nasally voice that did it for me), but I don't doubt she was popular.
The problem is with marmite acts like this is that they're not mainstream enough to win. Even Rhydian polarised opinion, so failed to garner enough support in the final. Both Cher and Aiden could fall into this category this year - good enough singers in their own right (if you like that kind of thing), but far too quirky or niche to gain the broad appeal that's needed to win the X Factor. |

lou - everyone's allowed to dislike an act, it's just personal taste.
however saying things like it's out of tune, when you actually mean "the tone of her voice and style of singing isn't really to my taste" tends not to pass without comment. |
|
By:
Vickers sang flat in parts every single week. FACT If people can't hear it that's their problem. "the tone of her voice and style of singing isn't really to my taste" either but I HONESTLY thought she was rubbish.
|
|
By:
There's a bit in her new song that sounds like my dog when she's having a bad dream... Just bizarre.
|
|
By:
okay, let's run with this.
if she (or any other singer for that matter) did sing out of tune, what's wrong with liking the performance as a whole? liking it more than a bland but note-perfect performance from a non-entity of a personality belting out a diva derge? shaun ryder is not a good singer, but you listen to "24 hour party people" - it's awesome! (in fact watch the film too - BRILLIANT!) |
|
By:
Have to agree with the GTL - in fact many of the greatest performers are what would normally be classed as bad singers... You only have to look at Morrissey, Liam Gallagher, Shaun Ryder - a lot of the Manchester scene fall into that category. An acquired taste, for sure.
I wouldn't necessarily mention Diana in the same breath as those esteemed artists though!!! |
|
By:
hifted most of my green to the competent but rather dull Alexandra
Least dull contestant in the past 3 years of X Factor imo. Other than that fig you are spot ons as per ![]() |

By:
Even Rhydian polarised opinion, so failed to garner enough support in the final.
Not true really, Rhyddian won in every district of the UK apart from Scotland where leon got over 90% of the vote. Rhyddian was just unlucky to face a Scot in the final. |
|
By:
I see Lou making a c0ck of himself again but...
For my money Alexandra was always a superior singer to Vickers. Vickers had a gimmick and a distinctive tome but it was false and forced and became annoying rather than endearing although I thought her singing Call Me was one of the best X Factor performances ever. |

Mark E Smith is a brilliant sing-ahhhh
