for transparency, I had a small loss here, but was cheering for Mensik because a retirement would cost me and I didn't want him to start cramping later and retire.

I like them if the other player has a big fan support too, or is not a nice guy ! Mensik is a great guy though

Brazilian fans are basically football fans who don't know much about tennis except that this player is Brazilian, so just turn up and bring their whole football fan, over exuberant vibes with them, not really knowing the etiquette of the a tennis environment, i.e being quiet when players serving, rallying etc.

The travelling fans I think have been ok, which suggest they are slightly more knowledgeable, but the ones at some of the Brazilian events are some of the worst.

Have to say Kostyuk, who was my direct pick to make the semis, looks in fantastic shape, as good as physical shape as she could possibly be.
Although Saba has a good record on clay in the last few years, when you watch her on this surface, it always seems like much more of an effort than it is on hard courts, and if she faces Kostyuk or Mirra in the final, she wont be able to just get by on power play, because those two are both looking in prime condition. Then you look at the likes of Osty and Townsend and you wonder if their strength and conditioning coaches are feeding them Happy Meals for Breakfast with Ben and Jerry's for afters. Just being in great shape goes a long way. |

Not fat shaming, just do not understand how every player as a professional athlete, does not look like one. It's not just that big boned, it's that they like their food more than winning matches IMO.

You definitely couldn't back him with confidence at that price, and he's definitely not free money, Cobolli for me is the best value from the players I think realistically can win, the one's that realistically can't imo are Arnaldi and Felix. I still don't fully trust Mensik and think he's not dynamic enough, largely relies still too much on his serve and always will. The Fonz was just knackered tonight, too many sets to reach this point and even his first match against some 200+ ranked player he had two first close sets, all catches up you eventually especially with his style which does not rely on serve but all court action and a lot of running.
I've been on Cobolli since pre-tournament and unlike Berrettini, Flavio doesn't have an injury record that makes you feel uneasy about backing him, worrying if his abdominal injures will force him to retire from a match at any moment. |
